some cars have kind of inherited problems major or minor. Allion 260 got that bad commpressor.

Please don't see that I am going to discourage you. From what you said I recommend not do any major repairs. Sell it and buy a common Japanese one. Because 1. Engine transplant is rather complicated and costly job. 2. Tinkering, painting and repairs to A/C are also very costly. 3. You will end up with a huge repair bill that is few times of the market value of the car. I think this is your first car and also understand your wish to repair it to perfect working condition. But remember sourcing spares for the European cars of that era is not an easy job. I have similar experience with my first car as a teenager. Believe me I bought it for 5,000 spend another 20,000 and finally managed to sell that for 5,000.

Yeah I do agree with you Don. But you can still run at least 15000 using fully synthetic lube.

When it comes to servicing Fiat says the oil change interval is at 30,000 km on their Multijet diesel. Amazing. isn't it ?

Hunt at Delkanda or any used part dealer. You can find a decent pair of Fiamm AM80, Klaxxson, Hella or Bosch at 2000-4000 range. I have used all those but Japanese Mitsuba Alpha is equally good and easier to find than the others. -
I was offered a test drive by the agent. It is fitted with Magnetti Marelli automated clutch as in Fiat GP. Though it is ok from the outside, interior is crappy as all other Indian makes. For me a decade old jap is better.

@xXx \\ With an ever increasing tax and duty bill importers are always looking at innovative ways to keep the cost down. \\ The cost of the equipment may go up but most of the medical equipment and devices are duty free only PAL 5% and NBT 2% is charged. For orthopedic equipment even those two are not there .Totally free. So you cant simply say taxes are ever increasing.

Finally Got Money Now What !. Starlet, Kelisa, 110 Any Other? I'm Confused
wolseley replied to hiru555's question in Car Buying Information
Since this is your first car expending too much on it will not be a good idea. Get a cut and polish done. Fix the leaks and minor things . Run for some time. If you are happy with it think of big work like respraying then. I've used an EP91 for almost 9 years. The biggest problem I had was seats getting stains from the inside. Not enough legroom for rear passengers comparing with the other hatches of the same class. -
Refer ..http://www.alvinproducts.com/Products/Products.asp?ID=4 I bought a 1/4 gallon tin and applied with a brush.

Since you are going to keep the car for a while may I suggest to cold galvanize the welded inner parts. I have done this to my EP71 and I think it will work.

As a user of a CE110 for last 15 years I also totally agree to what Chan 5 said. Imported in 1999 with 56k on the clock and overhauled at 175k . Now 285k on the clock and still going strong without a single oil leak. Whatever part you need is freely available at used parts dealers. very economical to run and maintain. But remember those are almost 15-20 years old now and need some attention. -
I don’t think it’s a good idea to replace a nylon tank with an alu one unless there is no option. Because they have to fabricate one and have to solder the entire edge throughout. on the other hand if you fix a nylon one it will be easier, quicker and nicer retaining an original look. No need of soldering either.

I have used a starlet EP82 manual earlier and an EP91 auto, sold for 1.7 one year back. I prefer the manual one over the auto. You get any part freely at used parts shops. Very economical to maintain and trouble free cars in IMO. Using a CE110 manual for last 15 years and it's a trustworthy daily runner. It does 12 in the city. I think you'll be able to find one below 1.6 nowadays. -

Buying New Shocks From Which One

Usually agents do not offer the full dealer discount to customers at their outlet unless for a special reason. Therefore dealers are free to sell at whatever price below the list price within their margin. I get 40% at Do***s. -

Taas imports KYB from Thailand too. -
Long ago there were used tire imports. Now it is restricted. (no ICL is issued) So don't search for used tires. Buy new set of tyres and have peace of mind.

Due to ageing the heater starts leaking. Also the insulation deteriorates. There you have to replace the heater and redo the insulation. In a country like ours there is no need of a heater unless it is connected to automatic climate control. So, in older vehicles nothing wrong with closing the water lines to the heater to avoid the hassle of maintaining the heater system..
