  1. Not so sure.. But as far as im concerned fixing a muffler will cause fuel figure changes...
  2. Hi Thilinap I know that's the exact response from St@ford.. they first ask to change the oil, and may be engine tuneup.. when nothing works they come to conclusion saying previous owner have used non CVT oil and bla bla... As per the research i have done so far regarding HONDA cvt gear box of these model have a wet clutch system, if im not mistaken and this tends to slip by the time.. If we can replace that part i think we can overcome with this issue.. I cant exactly recall this, cz i read these articles few months back... And is there any new CVT gear boxes available or used ones (cz nobody knows the condition of the used gear box either)... ?? Is it possible to convert this to manual gears ? cz i remember this same model came with manual 6 speed gear box (if um not mistaken).. and how much will it cost to do the change.. I'm checking for alternatives to fix this issue.. I had a chat to ma garage guy, he asked me to check with Nilw@la place.. Hoping to pay a visit soon.. cheers
  3. @VVTI - will this affect fuel consumption?? what happens if we only connect the beat barrel to end of the pipe replacing the stock one ?? How does the fuel figures deviates ??
  4. well..to solve your Problem, you can put a security system... after that you just need the key, only to start the vehicle... (just a suggestion)
  5. Thanks Kusal.. I just showed mine to my bass... And he checked the spark plugs and found out that only 1 was working well.. other 3, the distance of the tip was too closed (that's what he said) and then he aligned those and cleaned the tip of all 4 plugs and did some fuel adjustments as well.. And asked me to come back after doing 50KM's... So after doing 50Km today itself, i went to show him and he removed the spark plugs to check, and those seems to be cleaned... He asked me to pump full tank again and recheck the consumption.. As per him, now fuel figures should increase... Hope this would do.. I really don't wanna remove my BEAT silencer ... Will update you all once i figure out the fuel figures.. And Kusal, Please do update us on your repair as well Cheers....
  6. @the Don- initially i thought if it makes like 1kmpl difference..that would be fine..not sure whether it has affected even..cz early days i only used this on weekends..so didnt measure the consumption much... but now since i use it daily only this issue came up..hmmm if this im unable to increase it, then sadly i have to remove the beat and fit my stock silencer again
  7. @hrm & @The Don- hmmm.. i think I'll give one last shot..will be going to garage on this saturday to sort this out most probably..im having a doubt is it because of the silencer... but removing that will be my last option.. because daily i go close to 10KM so my plan is to limit it to 1liter To be honest im really careful on throttle unless someone pissed me off hehe and that's why im thinking that it should do atleast 10.. does anybody has a beat silencer installed on their vehicles ? fuel figures change after the beat silencer ? any ideas / experience ?
  8. @hrm - then i think no point of chasing this to increase further but anyhow I'll be most probably going on this weekend to check spark plugs and all are in good condition.. I think that's all i can do with related to this...
  9. Ya... i think you are correct machan.. Well in that case i have no experience with that sort of issues ... my suggestion will be to show it to an AC mechanic, rather than ruin something while trying to isolate issues (if you are not a PRO on that area)..
  10. Isn't it the required behaviour ?? I mean it's the same in my car as well.. When i switch on the ECON it works for lik ~10 secs then turn off... and then switch back On again.... but when i change it to AC it takes more than 10 seconds.... AC's are not meant to work continuously isn't it ?? correct me if Im wrong... Please ignore my comment if i have misunderstood the question... cheers
  11. Hi kusalk What the fuel consumption after carb tuneup ?? Mine just turned out to be 8kmpl in city with AC from 6.5kmpl... went to garage and he said have to check the spark plugs and all .. And how much did it cost to do a tuneup from Mr. Dammika ?? how much did it cost you ? and also can you send me his contact no as well?? Guys, what is the average fuel consumption of a CB1 ? I don't no whether this is cz of the beat barrel i installed recently.. hmmm I need to increase this upto 9--10 somehow... or worst case scenario have to remove the BEAT silencer
  12. Hi zaradiyel Thanks for the contact.. Well these CVT gear boxes oil is advised to change by 20000KM .. but since we drive in colombo i tend to change it within 15000-18000km.. And i think even honda normal AT gear boxes are advised to change within 20000-25000km.. we also have a ES8 and do change it within 20000-25000km... Hi Ruslan Thanks for sharing info.. I will have a look on both mentioned places... @everyone - is there anyone else who has the same issue ?? I believe this issue is common to JAZZ models as well.. Thanks..
  13. Hi All, First of all I must say this is my very first thread on AL. And I did few search on AL and by google, couldn't find a proper solution, therefore thought of opening a separate thread. Sorry if this is a re-post. The story begins like this, I bought a 2004 Honda City with 7 speed cvt gear box 2.5 years ago.. Car is really good in fuel consumption (does around 11-13 within city limits & 18-20 in outstation-highway mostly) bcz i try to keep the REV within 1500-2000 most of the time, therefore I have no intention of selling this car in near future. Car was clocked at 93000Km when I bought it and now its close to 119000KM.. Previous owner and myself both went to St@fford motors to change the cvt oil and its been changed within every 15000-18000 KM... Issue is ,recently I've noticed that my car sometimes disengage gear when i put to REVERSE gear.. and this rarely happens when I put it to "D" as well.. And also have noticed that pulling power(mainly initial pulling power) in Reverse gear and D has been reduced compared to normal AT car as well. I know these CVT's are tend to fail over the time, but I would like to know is there any place where I can get this issue sorted out ?? I heared these gear boxes can be repaired ?? if so how much will it cost me?? how much will it cost to buy a new gear box??what are the alternatives I have ?? Car is still drive-able, but would like to sort this issue before it get worst and since I have no intention of selling this due to fuel economy.. I have spent close to 20000 for all repairs..and those are also nothing major (engine mounts and tiny stuff) car is so reliable and that's why I would love to use this for another few years... Expert advises are always welcome !!! Thanks PerfMad
  14. hmmm.. I had the same issue in my LANCER.. when i went to garage, my baas said it's the switch.. so he replaced it with a genuine JAP switch which cost me 1000 rupees including his charges..
  15. Hi All, I'm a newcomer to this replying (recently created an account), though i was following all most all the interesting threads on AL. With regards to this discussion, well I also have a Mitsubishi lancer CB1 (carb) model. And recently did a full carb tune-up since my car was not doing really well on fuel. I thought it may be due to the BEAT silence i fixed one month ago.. Anyhow I wanted to repair my carb, like my garage baas advised we need to buy a repair kit and do the rebuild. But after spending few hours at panchikawatta, he called me and said that, he couldnt find repair kits.. Therefore let's remove and clean all the parts..After the tuneup my car seems to have a good pulling power + less carbon deposits on the muffler (compared to earlier)... Well I will let you all know the consumption very soon.. In addition, i believe both CB's and CK's have same carb model. Note: As per baas these carbs are called bothal carbs, where most says after removing it gives lot of troubles (that's the rumor)..
