  1. I am looking at the lankabell 1mpbs connection that has unlimited data. Any idea if this is a good connection?
  2. Thank you for your reply. I was not able to check on the car today (as it was raining pretty bad). I dont have the tool to remove the spark plugs to check its condition. I personally feel that it might be an electrical problem from the way i get the hesitation during driving. Yes, I will need to give the car for a good tune up. I will wait for next month though as that is when I will need to do the eco test again. Until then I would like to troubleshoot this problem as much as I can. xD
  3. As the topic states will a 1Mbps internet connection suffice for 3 users? or will the connection be too slow? The basic usage is for some skyping, emails, and youtube.
  4. Hi guys.. here is an update.. I drove both cars the Audi A4 and the Mazda 6 and this is my personal opinion. First of all the mazda is an amazing car to drive on a smooth road. I am sure it would also handle pretty well because of the way it is set up. I noticed that there is always certain amount of road noise that enters into the cabin even at low speeds. The suspension is firm!!! heat doesnt enter the cabin.. its well insulated. The car feels lighter compared with the Audi A4. It a very smooth car to drive but I felt that this is not the machine for me. There is only 1 gripe I have with the Audi and that is the CVT gear box; in stop and start traffic there is a small jerk when shifting from 1 to 2 this happens when the car moves very slowly (you wont feel this unless you are really looking for a fault in this car). The car is very well put together feels very solid and planted. The ride is very quiet and comfortable (the suspension is set up very similar to the mazda tho.. firm and propped to perform). The car does not have low profile tires (unlike the mazda) and this really helps with the ride. I am really amazed with the quietness and refinement of this car... its surreal!!! and this is why i selected it as my daily driver. Thanks everyone for ur input... its much appreciated
  5. Hi, I am experiencing some slight hesitation when i accelerate from a stand still. I cleaned up the distributor cap and the contacts to the wires but I still seem to be having this problem. While driving the car pulls very well (no misfiring). During idle there is zero vibration. Any idea what I need to check? How do I know if my distributor is working fine? Thanks.
  6. I just drove the Mazda 6... what an amazing car! It was a 2014 model 2.5Ltr with about 25k mileage. The car is huge!!! and like reviewers state the ride is actually quite firm.. not bone jarring but its like the car is always propped to perform... I have an appointment today to view a 1.8T Audi A4.. also 2014 model... apparently with about 18k on the clock. Cant wait to try it out.

  8. Not right now sorry . I am currently using it as a project car.. trying to restore everything properly... and taking my own sweet time about it. Maybe once its done.... He might consider selling it.
  9. The mazdas look very nice... I dont see too many on the road though. I was watching a few youtube reviews this morning (for the 3 , 6 and CX5), reviewers say that the ride is a bit firm. But the cars are all one of the best in class. How are the agents? Do Lexus have agents in SL? I think they will be too expensive for me. I have not fixed a budget yet.... but I feel like I would most prob spend in the 7-8 mil range (it really depends on the car).
  10. I used to drive an Audi A4 .. year 2000 model... used the car for 15 years (sold it end last year) .... the performance of the car was superb no doubt.. ride and handling was top notch.. But after 5 years of usage it was a money pit. All the rubber around the car started rotting... aircon always gave problems.. ABS unit packed up.. had problems with the gearbox some electronics inside needed replacing.. the dashboard computer was replaced twice!.. people at the service center also had difficulty troubleshooting problems.. to be honest during the latter years.. it was more in the shop than on the road. My dads 30 plus year old lancer is just gas and go... I dont know too much about the latest cars and thr reliability.. but japanese vehicles have a reputation. This time around I will be spending some time doing research before buying something... all input is much appreciated ... also it seems that the new prius looks like a no go
  11. Thank you for your reply... but for the price I pay for the 2nd hand car.. isnt it better to get a brand new car? Plus I know for a fact that euro cars give a lot of problems.. very high maintenance and a lot of electronics... I dont mind considering though if it looks like a good machine... but as I mentioned above.. some of the roads I travel on are really bad. Most of these euro cars are low to the ground too (I think) ... and there is always a fear of someone vandalizing the thing.
  12. I am pretty sure.. I drive from colombo to Negombo 4 to 6 days a week.... its a very very tiring drive. On the colombo side both ways is full of traffic. and on the negombo side its bad roads ( both cases i cant go very fast to enjoy shifting through gears) The only stretch where there is no traffic is on the highway, and on it I will need to be cruising at 80 or 100kmph ( no real acceleration there either). I am looking for a quiet car so that I can listen to the radio.. or just relax while cruising along. Something soft to soak up the bumps and which would give me trouble free motoring. But I am sure if u give the beans to any car it would make a decent sound right? ( I am generally soft on the gas pedal) I was just suggested by a friend to look at the outlander PHEV.... any thoughts?
  13. This car has a CVT gear box tho.. shouldnt it be quiet? I drive a lot on the highway .. i just want it to be as quiet as possible wen i am traveling at highway speeds. I am not really concerned if the car is a hybrid or not (my company pays for the fuel cost) ... but a good fuel consumption is a bonus as I dont need to go in and out of petrol sheds all the time.
  14. What do u guys think about the new Toyota Prius? Will this car be a good daily runner? can it survive the hardship and perils of our Lankan roads?!?! there seems to be a lot of computers inside. Also has anyone driven a vehicle with the information displayed in the center of the vehicle? Is possible to get used to that? I do about 50km per day. I do not like stopping at petrol sheds. I want something super quiet, comfy as possible and a big boot. Also, what are the other options that I have?
  15. wow.. this is very interesting... keep us updated on how the insurance company handles this as well.
  16. Yes... this makes better sense ... something neat and rigid.. I will look into these hardboards.. I hope they are not expensive
  17. But those are too thin... thats what I am using now by the way.. I really hate it I have somehow lost the original boards.... those were very good, and can be folded into two to access the spare wheel and tools. The proper boards not only are neater but distribute the load across the boot so different sections dont go in.
  18. Hi, Can anyone advise me on where I can get a thick cardboard for the boot? Around how much will they cost? Is there any place that could make one for me? Thanks.
  19. Please post the google street view location.
  20. I only got a chance to try out the car with the wipers + headlights + A/C yesterday night so I had to delay commenting. I went to Saman's to replace my old alternator with a reconditioned (original part). He charged me 8500 Rs for the job and gave me 6 months warranty. The car seems to be charging well. The millimeter reading before the replacement was 12.4V with everything running.. after the replacement it was about 13.6V. He soldered the wires rather than just knotting them up and putting tape around it (this i liked). The workshop is a very busy place; he was working on 7 vehicles at the same time. He has boys to disassemble parts/body panels etc (these guys are clumsy fellows and I would suggest the owner be around while they do this.. one of the boys working underneath the car was gripping my signal light while forcing a bolt inside the engine bay.. the signal light bracket came out!!! .... fyi finding parts for my car is impossible!) .. Saman does the inspection and the actual fit back of the parts/soldering/testing etc. Saman does an honest job..and the workmanship was good... I dont like the lax attitude that his employees have though... Would I go there again?? that depends on the type of electrical issue I am facing. I wont leave my car there un-attended (my score 6/10)
  21. Hi .. these are pics of the passenger side wiper. ..the blade does not rest on the glass! Looks like the wrong arms were installed. This set looks too big for the car.
  22. Today morning as I was taking the pictures I think I noticed that the passenger side wiper blade edge was not resting on the glass... I was rushing as I am working today. Once I get back home I will need to double check. Both wipers seem to be too big for the car.. I will take another picture tonight and post it up..
  23. Thank you for your reply. Yes, I will need to find somebody who understands this properly and will do a proper job. I will also need to find another C12... and see if they have accidentally fitted the wrong arms.
  24. I strongly believe these guys have installed the wrong arms after the paint job!... look at the shape of the arm. That kind of clearance and shape for this car does not look correct.
  25. I took the vehicle back to the garage where they did the tinkering and painting.. but they ruined the whole thing. They told me that they were going to just pull the nut out and fix the wiper back but they ended up knocking the top body panel deforming it. .... I have no idea where I can get this panel! I left the car there for 2 days so that they could remove the whole thing and do it properly...they even told me that they would just pull the nut out as it was recessed in the body but they seem to have given me a temporary quick solution! (they know I use this vehicle as a 2nd car .. and I am in no hurry to get it back) This fix doesnt solve the problem either! I cant fold the wiper upwards it knocks the body. I would like to shame them online but they have been working on this car for the last 20 years... and I know them well (one of my neighbors) . Its sad that they did this to me this time around.
