Great update! Where did you get the accessories though? Checked eBay and some other online sites, but shipping charges are nasty. Sta***rd told me they weren’t bringing down accessories for the Civic
-
Not too fussed True that and fingers crossed!

Nope. Tech Pack has a whole different headlight assembly and contains several LEDs in an array unlike a single bulb on the halogen one. That said, from what I heard if one of those LED’s in the array pop, it’s quite a costly replacement. God help me. Uploaded pics of the Tech Pack headlights

You’re welcome, bro. Actually they run a diagnostics too on the sensors as well as reset the maintenance minder once oil is changed. If those can be done at the service station, should be fine. Also, the oil they used for me was Mobil1 5w 30 synthetic blend. My suggestion is to also check and ensure you’re getting a genuine oil filter as this car needs good flowing oil given it has a turbocharger. Bad oil = turbo problems. Stafford charged me 6k for an inspection at 1500km and 12k for the oil change, etc. at 4800km.
-
Stafford didn’t recommend anything and rather asked me what I wanted to do. They’re pointless that way. Manufacturer’s recommendation is to follow the maintenance minder. It initially said 12k as the service interval, but it kept dropping based on my driving style and fuel being used. It’s quite smart that way. Eventually got a service notification at 4800km and that’s when I changed my oil and filter. That said, I took it for a general inspection and cleanup at 1500km. Stafford recommends a service every 5000km and they may be right as the maintenance minder itself adjusted to alert me about it accordingly. Again, depends on where you drive. Bottomline: inspection at 1.5k and then follow the maintenance minder afterwards.

It cost me 3k. They have equipment to pull out the dent from the outside if it isn’t reachable from under.

I took my car for a minor dent repair on the hood to Keen Auto close to Rattanapitiya. They’re the ones who do paintless dent repairs. They do bigger body repairs that require repainting too. The person running it is well versed in this stuff. As for mechanical faults, etc. I’ll just go to the agents anyways. Never had any so far.
-
I take mine for servicing at the agent @ Rattanapitiya. If it's body repairs, please try to avoid their body repair shop as they're a royal pain to work with. I had to take my car there for a body repair on the door, but they left so much paint overspray on an adjacent panel (luckily it came off with a quick polish) and also managed to mess up a small plastic corner guard on a totally different door by using a screwdriver to remove it. It broke and the screwdriver scratched some paint from the interior. Had to get it done elsewhere after that so I'll most likely never visit them for such repairs.
-
Yup, that’s better especially if you wax monthly. By the way, this is the finish I got on my door panel after applying these two products.

JetSeal is good, however it looks like you’ll need to apply it twice if done without a DA tool to ensure an even coating. You’ll also need to clay-bar the vehicle first for best bonding. I applied a single layer myself without claybar (it still took quite a while due to the curing process) and I feel it is starting to wear off a few months down the line. It says 1 year of protection on the bottle, but in reality it’ll be less than 6 months. You will need to use a mild shampoo though for your car washes as anything strong with citrus extracts, etc. can strip JetSeal. Good product, but a bit pricey compared to the alternative Meguiar’s Ultimate Wax, which is actually a sealant and gives you more longevity.

Depends on what you’re looking for. If fuel economy is important to you and you drive in Colombo traffic, then you may be disappointed to an extent. Otherwise, it is a decent car, but loaded with sensors that can annoy you in bad traffic. I’ve written a full review of my own EX Tech pack on this thread; read that too. By the way, I saw one relatively well known car sale in Colombo bringing down the 1L sedan, so check on that too. Alternatively, there’s the good old Axio WXB that does exceptionally well on fuel or a Vezel (not the RS Sensing as that will go beyond 7.2mn). After the budget passes though, you may run out of options, so best decide soon (but don’t rush without researching). Good luck deciding! I know I had a lot of fun picking my car.

Ceypetco’s 95 Octane fuel is RON 95 so that should be fine. Its MON is 85 though and that gives an AKI of 90. Must find out what the recommended AKI or MON for the vehicle is. http://ceypetco.gov.lk/ceypetco-products/

Saw some moisture in my tail lights after the heavy rains and weird climate. That’s normal and will evaporate during the day assuming it’s just moisture and not like a large collection of water. If you’re having halogen headlight assemblies, you may notice a tiny ventilation hole (it’s really tiny) somewhere in front. Not much water can get in, but you may have the occasional moisture build up if it’s hit head-on with a high pressure hose. By the way, does anyone have like a tiny fluttering noise from the Aircon while it’s running (not when just the fan is working)? Thought it was the belt, but there’s no noise from outside or the engine area, just inside the cabin. Got the cabin filter cleaned as well, but it’s this faint noise like some paper whistling about.

It’s the place at the mouth of Kirimandala Mw from Elvitigala Mw. It’s the place selling Meguiar’s.

Yea, I decided against the ceramic coating. It’s a headache in the event of any body repair since you can’t easily sand it down. And after repairing, you’ll have to redo the whole panel with that expensive coating. Sealants work just fine, but don’t do much against water spots. I use JetSeal by Chemical Guys and did it myself. Lol glad I’m the unique one with these Alloy Gators and Sonic Gray paintwork. Seen several polished metal ones at that car park.

Overall, I’m still ok with the ground clearance and it is definitely better than my older Axio. I guess it has to do with the stiffer shocks on the Civic. My accident with the trench was purely my fault as I misjudged it completely. By the way, does anyone have problems getting rid of bird poo etchings (not on ceramic coated cars)? I’ve used a sealant on the paint and it still leaves an awful mark that doesn’t go without some buffing. Never had this with my Axio.
-
Done. Yup, they do the last time I checked
-
Cost me 19k for the whole thing
-
So I got my Alloygators and thank god I did because a few days after that, I got my rear wheel curbed. The gators took the whole brunt of the impact and saved the wheel. Just a quick wash and wipe down completely hid all scratches on the gator! Totally worth the investment. Here’s how they look by the way.
-
In all fairness, my previous Axio would’ve slammed into the trench too, however I don’t think it would have this rubber lining ripping off - doubt it had one in the first place. Still, it’s a good car and slopes, etc. have to be taken cautiously. I’m heading to Megs this coming Saturday as the car needs a proper cleansing - layers of salt and dust after several drives down south earlier this week!

So I had my first repair on the Civic at the dealership today. The undercarriage near the front bumper landed into a shallow trench unfortunately and given the car is already quite low, it made quite a noise. There is an “air spoiler” made of rubber underneath the bumper (attached to it) and that had come off with the clips. Surprisingly, I only noticed it today after running up and down the highway for a few days so I’m glad it actually held its own. The part cost 6k and was simply replaced - no other damages or scratches underneath (phew!). Interestingly, this part is relatively inexpensive at Honda SL compared to some simpler parts like rubber beadings, etc. at Toyota. I was always told that Honda parts cost more before buying the vehicle. Lesson learnt and hope nobody else makes the mistake of running too fast into a trench regardless of how shallow it may seem or a bump. This rubber spoiler is merely attached using clips that can easily break if you knock the undercarriage.

Glad you liked it. The furthest I’ve taken her was Wennappuwa via the Expressway although I did end up in quite a few tiny, twisty by-roads. It’s a dream on the Expressway especially with the Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Follow and Lane Keep Assist. Could never take the hands off the wheel and the car was intelligent enough to detect me losing contact with it. After a few seconds, the car started beeping so that was a good test. Loved how it auto-steered to keep within the lane though! As for the tiny roads, the suspension kept up quite well and I found it easier to maneuver. Didn’t feel the pot holes and bumpiness (Dynamic Dampening off) unlike my former Axio. Quite surprisingly, even though this car is lower, it never scrapes the bottom in areas that the Axio did. All in all, for the whole journey, I got up to 18kmpl in economy and this was with Econ switched off. Oh and I did use the paddle shifters for some spirited driving and boy, I wasn’t disappointed; the 3 cylinder does keep up quite well. Definitely going to invest in some mud flaps next as it does kick up a lot of mud. Right after that will be AlloyGators and I’ll probably get a silver or light grey one to match the body color (somewhat).

Civic 1.0T 2018 Rear suspension knocking Sound
misnad replied to NemesisArc's topic in HONDA SRI LANKA
Never heard this on my Civic.. I have the EX.. does yours have Adaptive Dampening for the rear shocks and if so, try turning it off and see. Found that there was also a service bulletin of sorts from Honda about this,,, -
It’s at the folks who do Meguiar’s is SL.. near Kirimandala Mw. There’s a Type R that keeps frequenting the place and boy, that is something else.

12 km/l is great in the city. I barely manage 8 km/l with Econ and Auto-stop on, but then again my route is from Dehiwala to Dematagoda through Borella during office traffic hours. How are your climate settings though? Do you have it on Auto? I should’ve gone for the custom carpets as the 3M ones I bought for 22k just keep slipping around over time. K***n P**k quoted 38k for the custom K-Mat carpet! Also considering AlloyGators to protect the rims as I seem to end up too close to the curb with the traffic down my usual route. I’m nearing 3000km and love the car so far. Has anyone done the oil change after 5000km and noticed a reasonable difference in economy or engine smoothness? By the way, what’s the oil used?
