  1. Rumormill: Porsche working on 580-hp GT2 RS The blokes at Pistonheads supposedly got word from an inside source at Porsche that the automaker is considering a track-day version of the GT2. The hypothetical Porsche 911 GT2 RS would improve on every aspect of the standard turbocharged rear-wheel-drive coupe, beginning with an additional 50 ponies, bringing output up to 580 hp. Center-locking wheels are rumored to be part of the package, along with Plexiglas rear windows and a range of body modifications that could drop some 440 pounds from the standard GT2's curb weight. The UK-centric site reports that ten right-hand-drive examples will be produced, although it doesn't say what total global output would be. If the GT2 RS does come to fruition, expect it to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show later this year, with sales beginning the following spring. http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/30/rumormi...-580-hp-gt2-rs/

  3. New 435bhp GT3 revealed 29 January 2009 The worst kept secret of 2009 has today been confirmed as fact: three years after it was first released, the Porsche 997 GT3 has been updated. Here's what Porsche has to say about the new car verbatim: 'For the 2010 model year, the GT3 has been given more power, better handling, and a slightly higher base price. While US pricing info is yet to be revealed, the facelifted GT3 will sell in Europe for €116,947 (in the UK the price is set at £81,914) following its debut at March's Geneva Motor Show.' The new GT3 gets a revised rear spoiler to increase downforce at high speeds. Power has been boosted by 20bhp (15kW) over the outgoing model, with the car's naturally-aspirated flat-six engine now pumping out 435bhp (325kW). Changes to the powertrain include a larger 3.8-litre of displacement, as opposed to the former's 3.6-litre, as well as an updated VarioCam system with adjustable exhaust valves. The end result is a 0-100km/h sprint time of 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 194mph.' 'To improve handling, engineers have modified the PSM stability management system to allow more flexibility, and there is a new graduated setting for both the stability and traction control systems. Changes to the car's aerodynamics have also been implemented, with a new spoiler design improving downforce over the rear axle. The new model exerts twice as much downforce as the last GT3.' 'Other changes include enlarged carbon-ceramic brake discs and a new (optional) adjustable front spoiler that can be raised by up to 30mm at the push of a button. Visually, the new 2010 GT3 can be differentiated from its predecessor thanks to new bi-xenon headlights, new LED tail-lamps, and revised air intakes in the front bumper.' So what can we deduce from this? Not too much at the moment. There's no mention of direct injection, and the engine is described as 'proven', suggesting that it's still based on the old GT1 block. This dry sumped motor has been taken-out to 4-litres in racing for the RSR, so a 3.8-litre version shouldn't be a problem. However, it is strange to see no mention of PDK at all. The only interior shot issued is of a manual GT3, too. Coolest detail must go to the centre-lock wheels, although the optional Porsche Active Drivetrain Mount engine mounts sound very trick. These active mounts recognise maxiumum attack driving and harden to better control the mass of the engine. Also interesting is seeing how Porsche responds to customer feedback – look closely and you'll see a fine mesh covering all of the front air intakes. First generation cars used to have their radiator fins peppered by grit and so most owners fitted grilles from Cup cars, but this has now been sorted.
  4. Many happy returns bro
  5. Got this warning message in the morning when i tried to login using firefox. But now everything seems to be back to normal.
  6. One of my friends changed his engine to a 1.5L from a 1.3L and managed to get the registration books updated without a problem. The only problem he faced there was that the vehicle inspector who inspected the car asked him to remove the 'coffee table' spoiler that he had installed on his car as it was a non original. Other than that everything went smoothly. Antway, if you are taking your car to RMV get those things done make sure that you call them and ask them for a good day for it since, as Dev also mentioned, they have to get the new weight of the car which could sometimes be very time consuming bc of the way that the RMV idiots work. And also note that a lot of truck owners come to weigh their trucks upon registration so going there ealry would save you so many hrs. However, i am not sure how they would look at a conversion though. Since the car's mechanical stucture is almost completely changed, they might refuse to sign the documents saying that the car would be dangerous on the roads(this statement=$$$$). My advice is just do the conversion and use the car without getting into all these troubles of changing the engine number in the registration books. Or if you have any contacts in RMV, just give them the new engine number plus the weight of of your STi version, which you would be able to find from the internet, and get them to do it for you.
  7. Some replies from the owner Yeah I heard that a lot. Almost too much power, was hard to have a good grip run without scaring myself half to death hahaha. Thata the manifold you are looking at and not bling just stainless steel manifold which changed colour from heat. Too right, first engine in was the one in pics. Spun a big end and replaced with an S14 long motor. Yes lots of upset Toyota heads, but they were just crying zealots. Didnt know what they were missing out on. Thanks. Gearbox was standard S13 5sp. Didnt have the 2nd gear problems S13s can have due to the reduced mass. Tailshaft was a one piece made by Hardy Spicer. Diff was out of a jap spec AE86 disc brake rear end with a Cusco 2way centre.
  8. Its around 285Hp

handsome looking car...personally i dont like the big 'fish-mouth' type front grill though..other than that no complaint..
  12. ..well it does look like IMPREZZA from some angles. 2nd time i looked at it I noticed that 'P' was missing, so had another close look
  13. Its DIREZZA....its a tyre made by Dunlop
  14. Same with JDM Honda EGs machan. The ECU is located on the left side pannel of the passenger footwell.Looks a little same but its not as sophisticated as ones you get in EFi cars, hence it cannot make very direct adjustments to the carb. All the adjustments are done by controlling the vacuum valves that are located in a black box mounted on the engine firewall right next to the brake master cylinder.
  15. Oh shit, Adolph is pissed about all the GTR transmission issues
  16. Its called Ultimate Black Opal machan..it is some sort of a pearl colour that gives different colour reflections (black, coppery bronze, and purple) depending on the lighting and the angle that you are looking at it.. Read all the other details below.. Nissan Spec V release video For your 15,750,000 Yen you get the full Nismo Club Sport package, carbon-ceramic brakes, carbon spoiler, grille and brake ducts. Inside the same carbon-like trim seen on the Tokachi Race GT-R makes an appearance while the rear seats have been eliminated. The limited edition color Ultimate Black Opal will be the only one available. Can’t wait to drive this car and see how much better than the standard car it really is. The over-boost function sounds interesting but would like to find out more info on this. Here is the official Press Release in english. TOKYO (Jan. 8, 2009) -- Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced a new limited-production Nissan GT-R SpecV model, which goes on sale at seven specially selected Nissan dealers throughout Japan on February 2, 2009. The GT-R SpecV is targeted specifically at enthusiast drivers who desire race car-level performance in a street-legal vehicle. Developed around the multi-dimensional Nissan GT-R sports car, which was introduced just more than one year ago to universal global acclaim, the new SpecV model builds on the original's "ultimate supercar that anyone can enjoy driving anywhere, at anytime" philosophy - taking it to an entirely new level of "oneness between man and machine." The SpecV model includes unique body, interior and performance equipment and modifications, raising the GT-R's unmatched performance to even higher levels. The GT-R SpecV's new exterior features include a carbon fiber rear spoiler, a carbon fiber grille, and carbon fiber brake ducts. The SpecV is available exclusively in Ultimate Black Opal (RP) body color. Inside, the SpecV's unique two-seat interior (non-SpecV GT-R models also include a two-place rear seat) offers special Recaro carbon fiber bucket seats, while carbon fiber insets embellish the rear center storage box, instrument panel and other trim areas. Performance is enhanced with a new high gear boost control device, which momentarily increases boost of the engine's twin turbochargers for greater torque in the intermediate-to-high speed ranges to provide a more powerful feeling of acceleration, while also allowing the engine to operate at a lower speed for improved fuel economy. Other modifications include a titanium-coated exhaust system and carbon-ceramic brakes that provide powerful stopping performance. The GT-R SpecV is also equipped with lightweight, racing-style forged aluminum wheels that were developed for this model and have been sold by Nissan Motorsports International (NISMO) since September 2008. The lighter unsprung weight provided by the new wheels, together with the enhanced braking capability, an exclusive suspension and high-grip tires, combine to deliver the SpecV's exceptional performance. The SpecV will be sold at the following seven dealer outlets, each of which is staffed by mechanics with special GT-R SpecV training and who are knowledgeable of racing circuit driving.
