Hi My friends My Hyundai friend had some sort of issue recently. It start burn engine oils and one of mechanic has replaced piston rings. it has now fixed. now he complain about heavy black smoke on exhaust. Then ee met one chap in athurugiriya. he seems used to work at Hyndai. he scan the ECU and only show the o2 sensor issue. then he exchanged the Air floor sensor with another one and checked. no luck. then we checked the spark plugs. Bloddy hell. all of them were surrounded by full of carbons. then cleaned it. I believe think this may happen due to engine oil burn issue but that baas hand not clecnned the plugs. when we test it the black smoke reduced. but he said the Air floor sensor need to be replaced. and it was 14K. my friend did not had such money that time and we fixed the old air floor sensor back. after 3, 4 hours time he called and said , the black smoke has gone now and if i accelerate high then small amount come up. so i sad lets see for a few days time as you had engine oil issue and rich fuel consumption issue some more carbon still exists in the exhaust . so will wait and see. Another issue that hundai chap identified was that O2 sensor. The connector has removed during the piston rings change time and now it again giving the error code and cannot clear. he said replace that sensor because if its incorrect wiring the O2 sensor and ECU can damage too. Then you need to replace the ECU (22k) or repair (8K) What do you think of that statement. will there be high current comes to O2 sensor Heater? is it coming via ECU? please let me have your valuable comments Thank you Sira

Thank you for the complements i had a long holiday The mechanic is one my friend at kottawa and he used his stethoscope to found the noise, i know him since 2006 as he fixed my FB 13 he was a good mechanic .but this time he was wrong. anyway. i have found a guy who import this item and his cost is 10K. I think i will need a bleed this valve before connect out lines . may be try like bench bleed like we do for master pump. I just found a slimier type of design this called "Sumitomo type proportioning valve . see attached. hopefully not going to use a recon one because if its make any issue it will waste my time again . Couldn't find the such a long weekend in future .... Thank you for the update sira

Thanks Rumesh I dismantled the booster and couldn't find any warn or corroded area. then i swap my old Proportion valve. The noise coming from the proportion valve finally . I swap this one in 2013 due to imbalance break issue , how ever i managed to fix my stock one . it had grue on piston head and piston rod stuck (as i explained above) but i managed to fix it and swap it . the noise has gone but I feel some little difference on rear breaks. it does not locked at all , but it looks break force is low now. at around 40 KMPH with previous valve, front wheels dose not locked and cars stops smoothly. now i can see the front wheels locks and it skids. dose not seems that rear wheels get good force. very disappoint now!! . because it really hard to find 6 line proportion valve these days.

Hi Davy after 8-10 hours when the engine is off booster vacuum will go away. but that is not a big deal. when the engine is running the breaks are OK. no rear wheel lock at all. The issue is the noise of the booster. i believe as the mechanic said, the master pump side O'rings or some rubber seal connected to the suction side may have warn. is it a risk to repair them? Honda dose have Booster repair kit which will cost 12K. my booster can be opened sira

No!!! Booster will make the paddle smooth. it operate with vacuum . so when we press the paddle the booster rod will have additional power and presses the master pump.
-
The issue is now with break booster unit only.

Hi as mentioned above, i can hear a noise when i depress the break paddle. No other issue with the booster but noise I showed to one of previous nissan tech at kottawa and he used his automotive stethoscope and identified that the noise coming from inside the break booster. so he said some boosters can repair may be need to apply silicon grease to the o'riigs...etc. But some cases it may verse then before. what is your recommendation of dismantle the booster ? Thank you
-
HI Davy You are correct, i got same feelings.i was there at the garage when he remove the unit from the car and install the new one.may be he tamper this. anyway, i dismantle the recon valve today . there wad no any damage on the pistons or other parts. what i also realized was the old unit piston rod also stuck with the base unit. it must be freely moved.there is another rubber washer at the bottom of the spring too. just apply 2000 sand paper and cleaned the alloy rod and fixed it.looks fine But did not use it. i fixed the recon one again and bleed. according to the manual , first RL, then FR, RR and FL. i can see difference now. the rear wheels now not get locked. previously RL will get locked at the morning with 20Km too. It may be incorrect bleed process previously. so i will test for few days and update. how ever new issue came. i can hear small cracking sound from the booster now. not sure where its coming from. will see Thank you

Hi Rumesh Yes, i agree with you . when my original valve removed, the technician showed me the issue by dismantling the unit. there was grue in the piston head this had happened when high presure break oil tries to go quickly to the rear wheels. I believe due to age of the car(15 years) these this can happen. so the new one (recon) i believe it warn too or different pressure . see the attached pic of the I think if i use the my original unit by turning the damage piston side to good side and use.

Dear friends I replaced my Break proportion valve few years ago due to imbalance break issue and that time i brought valve from spare part shop at dehiwala. See pic 1 and 1a. but now it is looks faulty again because i can feel that rear wheels get lock (rear left wheel). how ever when i checked this carefully i can see "67" on the unit and my old one got 40 . what does this means? when i checked on the web i can see 4040 proportion valve, but there is no valve for 67 . and also so numbers on the other side with different . what is the exact part number or specification for Ek3 98 model please Thank you
-
I did earlier and most of the cases the garage people change items here and there and not rectifying the issue correctly. So i'm trying to figure out this issue and solve the matter
-
It had a Very rough break in the morning, so i replaced 2 caliper pistons on front , but did not changed any think at rear

Dear Member My Ek3 98 got Drum breaks for rear wheels and i can feel when i apply breaks the left rear wheel will get locked and right wheel will not. is this mean left side is good and Right side is bad or abnormal break on left side. The pads are still 50% ok and no oil leaks on wheel cylinders. please let me have your opinions Sira

Hi Guys Manged to fix this issue, it was rusted Caliper pistons. in 2012 i changed them in to RBI brand as the existing pistons are got rust. how ever it was last only 2 years. when i check break pads 2 weeks ago i did inspect the pistons by moving the caliper dust cover. it was badly coroded and when i remove the piston from caliper body, they were badly coroted. Luckly i mnaged to buy 2 piscons from agents for a 4 K (each) and re-build them. now all issues gone thank you all sira

Finally i changed my rear struct units with Showa re-con units. Yes. believe me , they are really smooth than tokiko and KYB. Found them on ######.lk with cheap price. what i noticed was they are very smooth in operation. when depressed, they go very quickly and take more some time to come out comparatively other brands. I drove n bad road with humps and holes also express way, big difference with rear side.(front is still tokioko.) thank you for all of you who contributed with this topic. i admit that i have crated few post regarding with this issue and they should merged. do not know how to do that and is there any way i can delete other posts please Thank you sira

Dear Friends Finally i managed to fix the Idle issue. I cleaned the Throttle body by my self. i was bit a scared ,but one fried said it is piece of cake. yes it is , if you do it carefully. there were lots of carbons surrounding the throttle body area and IACV. carefully removed the IACV valve coil unit and cleaned the moving parts. cleaned the whole throttle area then fixed back. once you start the engine i realized it was on leaning stage . which is really interesting (thank max). engine revs high - normal. then again high .low.....then press gas , it goes high and and release the gas come back to 1000 rpm and again went to 1200..... finally after 5 ,10 min engine came back to normal 700 rpm and with AC on it increase up to 900 and when AC is off goes back to 700 straightaway. the issue i had was as soon as AC goes off, the Idle goes below 500 and like wobble. I have not cleaned throttle body for 4-3 years as no error so far. should we cleaned periodically? thank you all for your valuable advice Sira

Dear Friends Hi This is brand new version and no ELD. I was ashamed why the brand new cars dose not have more features. 96 Ek3 recons has more features, such as ABS , air bag....etc. but this dose not have even O2 sensor.
