Yes I believe you were spot on with your 10-15% drop which is precisely what we are seeing. What do you want to predict our personal futures also so accurately ha?
-
Ok gentlement I must be very humble and admit that you guys were correct and I was wrong. And right now actually I have put my foot in my mouth.... I have also not seen a drastic reduction in the 2nd hand market and I do not expect any miracle in 2 more weeks either. So those of you who stood by the theory that the second hand market will not be drastically affected are correct and for sure I was wrong. I will do a better try next time (first let me treat my wounded mouth and foot)

Hey where is this L Board by the way??????

Hello did you get your 405 up and running? Please share your experience with us.
-
Y60 high roof is surely within your reach. However try to get 64 or 65 series but not the 61 series which belongs to the heavy vehicle category.
-
Nissan Patrol 4 door 1991-1995 model is certainly within your budget (specially the high roof one) Land Cruiser 80 series is certainly not within your budget. However, the 60 series will surely be within your budget. Some examples: http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=30251 http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=23633 I am not so sure about the Land Rover 110 For our friends who are proposing Smart Cabs... I am sure our friend here is looking for a Jeep and not a Cab and for sure the off road performance of a jeep is better than a cab.

Let's wait for Harshana's comments as he is quite conversant with 406. So far I have not heard many complaints from 406 owners. For sure it is very comfortable and looks much much better and elegant than the Japs in the same price range. It also gives you a good image. So even if the claims of high cost of maitnenance + high cost of fuel are true, if what you want is the comfort, prestidge and good looks I am sure 406 will be a sensible option. Anyway let's wait for Harshana's feedback.

For the engine related matter, please take to the agents. Don't let ordinary mechanics handle these high tech engines. Who wants enemies when there are friends like that?

I can understand your thoughts. However, unless you have some really high level contacts at the police or with a politician, you are just going to waste your time.

This certainly sounds like a very interesting project. I can imagine the satisfaction and that great feeling you will get once you get this beauty up and running. I have seen another 405 (plus many more nice vehicles) wrotting at Sethsiripaya Battaramulla for years now. At least if they auction them, like you there will be many people who will do justice to these forgotten machines. Please keep us updated with the progress of your project and wish you all the best.

You mean to say that we can now get an unreg Axio for 2.9M?
-
Please ask the your car to behave in a better manner Lol
-
I heard that next week approximately 400 vehicles will be cleared and many more in the weeks to come. The unreg Axio 141 from the old stock are still quoted at 4.8M and lets see what happens to them when the new stocks arrive. This is a great case study I think. We can also see some people repeatedly advertising with old price and new price and their new price is going down with each repetition. However I dont know from where they got that old price. At the same time there are still great entertainers who advertise at prices which make all of us laugh. We must thank them for entertaining us. For example a 2001 Honda civis at 2.4M (which was not even the old price), 1998 Sprinter at 1.8M, a wrotten jeep for 2.5M, Swift jeep model for 1.9M (when an unreg can be bought for 1.6M) etc. So we must thank these people for the great entertainment they provide us.

I fully agree with you. These are the desparate sellers, car sales guys, brokers who spread this theory to somehow sell their stock in hand at a higher price by misleading the public. Let's not get caught to these. They all know prety well that when the new stocks come in, the stocks they have in hand have less value. So they make desparate attempts to keep the prices high. Also please note, it is these same people who will condemn your vehicle to the max and say that the taxes will come down even further in the near future when they try to buy your vehicle.
-
Well I think Sellers quote the price they would actually like to get plus a margin for negotiation (and also to try whether they can strike any luck by finding one foolish buyer who is unaware of the tax cut). Buyers will only buy what they feel as the product for the right price. Right now the difference in the two is huge. When the new vehicles arrive, the price of these 10 year olds will naturally drop. It is a matter of time. Well the sellers can still quote 3.5M for a 10 year old 121 whereas the buyers will buy 141 for the same price. So dont worry about what the sellers quote. So the sellers who say they bought the 121 for 3.5M and will not sell it for anything less can take the vehicle with them to the grave yard while the buyers buy only what they see as the right price. We must also understand that there are lots of sellers in the market who had stocks in hand and they will make desparate attempts to keep the prices up quoting various theories. No doubt this tax cut will make few sellers bankrupt. I saw few places around Nugegoda, Kohuwala, Pepiliyana with huge stocks of King Cabs. Will they be able to still sell them at 4.5+M when the proper 4 doors 4WD double cabs (recon) can be imported for less than 5M? So we must understand that some people were hit quite hard with the tax cut. Also the net worth of all the vehicle owners have just dropped. It is a fact that we must accept, but can't help it. So we just have to wait and let the market stabilize. Wait till the small timers bring vehicles to the market. Then lets see who will buy these 10 year olds for the same price.

They are still in operation but at Hokandara.

Simply brilliant!

You can recover this car and use it without a problem unlike one that gets submerged in sea water. You must just make sure you dont start the engine before all the necesary parts are cleaned. You certainly need the hands of a good mechanic (if not an automobile engineer). Clean P@rk can do a good job do get the interior back in shape. All the best

You will be able to buy a good Nissan D21 with the TD27 engine (Turbo diesel 2.7L with full option) for that price and for sure you won't regret. It will be more comfortable than the LN106 becase the D21 has front suspension whereas the LN106 has the spring leaf. Once you get used to it, parking won't be a problem. It is the initial 2 months of driving where you feel the vehicle as too bulky but after two months time you will drive it like a car. Go for a 4WD. Ground clearance and the ability to dominate the tuk tuks will make you feel like a king If you can wait for a few months, with the price crash you may even be able to afford a beauty like this one (a D22 of course) for the same budget http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=12585

Thanks for the complements But no. Not at all. But I think it was written by someone with similar abnormal thinking and expressing capability If I knew him, I would have helped him to add more spice and glamour to it Cheers

Totota Ae110 - Installing Power Shutters/mirrors
L board replied to overTuned's topic in General Automotive
Would replacing all four doors with full option doors be an option for him? Then he will have power shutters and central locking and the power mirrors as well. But for the power mirrors to function, he may have to replace the dash board also. If he can afford to, that may be a better option. -
Yes that is the one. They are more closer to Nugegoda now on railway avenue when I went there last year.
