If you can afford the fuel, you can afford a Lada

Yeah... come to think of it... you're correct. Have seen many Vezels with scratches or damages on their bumpers than other vehicles. Could this be a fault in the design? Could it be because the driving position fails to provide sufficient feedback to the driver about the dimensions of the vehicle? Or could it be because there are so many Vezels on the road?

Yeah agree... But the driver's behaviors (well.. at least the majority of them) form a certain stereotype. Other drivers who have similar behavior; in terms of headlights - D*MO Battas and Tuk tuks lane hoggers - some Prius and Maruti drivers of cause, and bus drivers who are lagging between bus stops overtaking... - a scattered set of vehicles mainly including small cars driven by weekend only drivers (I think) Again not all of the drivers drive like this (thank god!). Its just a certain noticeable portion of them. The best example is the Prius driver I used to meet late at night driving home from work on the Nawala road. Whoever he or she is drives the Prius as it should be driven. I always give way and follow them coz its just nice to see a Prius doing those speeds... If you got time read the following blog post... sums up the stereotypes we meet on the road. Its in Singhala though... http://mpotha.blogspot.com/2012/04/blog-post_05.html

hmmm... problems with Vezel: Apart from being driven mostly by incompetent drivers who cant; dip the headlights when there is oncoming traffic drive without hogging the lane require the space of a truck to overtake or pass another vehicle in a narrow road its a pretty decent vehicle tad underpowered to be run by a 1.5L engine (in my opinion).

Do you get the sound from underneath or from the front? 1. If you feel that the sound is coming from the front, check whehter the bonnet lid is a bit loose. Check the bonnet slam (sorry, but I don't know the correct term). These are the small rubber bushes at either side of the front (directly behind the lamp assembly), which the bonnet rests on when it is closed. (In the below photo you can see the left side one just in front of the orange windscreen washer tank cap). If they are broken, replace them. If they are intact turn them to adjust them, so that the bonnet lid properly rests on the bushes. This is a DIY job. 2. Get a mechanic to check the front lower arm bushes. Bumpy roads in SL are known to ruin them. You can get them replaced for cheap. Just replace the bushes. 3. Get a mechanic to check on the tie-rod ends. Sorry, but I don't know any garages in Kandy.

Isuru, I beg to differ. I've used Nissan's for a long time. What I have noticed is that: you need to use a good engine oil + have the routine services done on time + have a clean air filter and A/C filter. That is the normal formula to get the maximum out of a Nissan ( guess that's the formula for any vehicle). But what I have observed is that you cannot skip or cut corners with these routine maintenance with Nissans. If you do so, it will gradually start becoming thirsty. Also, its good to have the throttle body cleaned up once in a while. Driving a MT, what I have observed is based on my driving style, the fuel consumption figures change a lot! its not a matter of small figures. If I'm in a real hurry and drive fast in the city with a lot of abrupt braking and pickup, (due to slow tuk tuks and Prius drivers), I could almost burn twice as much gas than I normally do! Crazy ha? but that's the truth. If your driving style is not very aggressive, you would easily improve on the kmpLs. The other thing is if you are drive within the speed limits, you will make the maximum savings . Guess this is proof that SL speed limits were not set for safety, but fuel consumption in mind! When someone claims that their Nissan does x amount of kmpl, than my Nissan, I usually like to observe their driving style if I can. IMO that is the best way to understand what makes the difference!

The Great Battle - Suzuki Sx4 Sedan Vs. Mitsubishi Lancer Ex 1.6
isam replied to Jor-el's question in Car Buying Information
If I were you I'd got for the Lancer. The SX4 sedan does not appeal to me body kit or not. The Lancer just looks good without the body kit! I'm sure there would be others who have different opinions. Its just a matter of appeal I guess. The SX4 hatchback... well... that's a different thing altogether. If you have the choice to go for the hatch, then its a worthy opponent to compare with the Lancer.- 24 replies

Agree about the value proposition. But battery replacement for a hybrid is sort of a maintenance task (hopefully once in a long while). So, it should be expected at the end of the battery life. But running a car intended to run as a hybrid, purely on gasoline, would not be the best option IMO. Bumblebee, here's your answer from ramishkad with first hand experience. Replace the battery or sell the car to some poor bloke before the battery goes kaput.

And the type of usage (where you intend to go with it: on-road, off-road)?
-
Gee... that looks good. Congratulations!

oh you didn't. You poor fool, Chams all you did was expose yourself! You could use learning some forum etiquette first!

Just want to add; I guess that what we hate are the people who buys a Hybrid and drives 30kmph right in the middle of the road to 'save fuel'.
