  1. Should do more out my 2013 2.0L does 12-16 outstation If you buy new/ unregistered will most likely will get a hit at resale in 2 years Best to get a used to minimize the loss or if your are lucky might be able to sell at a profit
  2. If you must wash do it at home when the engine is cold using your garden hose. you can avoid the electronics, alternator etc.. Most of the cars have some sort of protection for water congestion, seepage however they become brittle and crack with age.
  3. Mage Ammo, no matter how hard i try i can get these figures even with Hybrids You may be able to start giving lessons, hope you were not driving in Malabe, Kotte, Colombo areas we have enough hybrids crawling in the middle lane wasting fuel of others who are driving normal cars.
  4. Toyota Yaris/ Belta, Axio, Honda City/ Fit Aria
  5. Rs. 2.5 Mn. ???
  6. Better to get this scanned before (recommend the agents) when you identify the problem you can decide where to do the repair. This could be due to your normal 12V battery get it checked first, can do at any battery shop.
  7. If you do not know the presiding better to get a lawyer as he she will be able to appear and get a lower fine as this is your 1st. Better if you could get a introduction to a lawyer before so that you will not get plaid out there, may be through a relation, friend, colleague.. They charge standard rates for minor offenses like this Rs. 1500-2000 Go neatly dressed, long sleeve shirt (light color) Tie might not be practical as these places get cramped up. Depending on the court better to go with someone else as some times they put you in to temporary remand until the fine is paid so you need someone to pay it for you. Certain courts i believe allow you to pay the fine your self. These are life long lessons not to do stupid mistakes and end up in courts Others please learn from this
  8. Anything made by Toyota, RAV4, Land Cruiser (79,80,100 Series will be within your budget) CRV. Please note resale from your current price will depend on the prevailing duty, availability of duty concession permits in the market, exchange rate ...... which can not be predicted unless you have a crystal ball or a time machine.
  9. Vitz replaced the starlet, it has better interior space and more comfortable. There are Vitz 1.3 on the market, bit rare and may be bit more expensive
  10. My experience is it does half in Colombo city traffic. Experience from the old Swift 1.2, FIT GP5, New Swift 1.0 RSt
  11. Change Engine oil and filter. Check air filter Check brake fluid, pads, transmission oil, wheel alignment
  12. None of the above will do 10kmpl in the city. Closest would be Lancer EX, may be Axio
  13. I mean neglected not molested, if the car is original and not tampered with you can replace the parts that can easily be sourced from ebay. Do agree it will be a long painful and expensive process.
  14. You will get a basic Vitz Vs top of the range RS Turbo Check the new price in Japan your Vitz is significantly cheaper Your price is same due to the high demand in auctions for the Vitz (trading at a premium) If you are worried about resale go for the Vitz if you want the better car go for the Swift,
  15. Interior seems good apart from the steering and the gear knob What is the year if it is post 92 it may have the M50 TU which is one of the best engines If all electrics are working and the engine and the gearbox is good it might be a good buy. Check for rust in usual places From the pics it looks like it has been neglected
  16. I think it is hard-corded for Europe, in any case it will be on subscription.
  17. Is this a regular drive if so better get a bigger car
  18. Oil change 15000km or 1 year, (7500) may be for harsh conditions 100,000km is to replace iridium spark plugs 0W-20 is used in Japan mainly to achieve emission and fuel consumption targets 10W -30 will have bit more viscosity and therefore could result in marginal loss in economy but i doubt will have any engine damage
  19. This is the new trend in premium segment give the basic car and get the poor sucker to pay for all the current necessities which are standard in other not so premium. If you want cheep premium learn to reverse, navigate your self, use speaker in your phone, turn a key to start your car. On the plus side most of the safety features are standard unlike the Japs
  20. All these seems bit premature considering the mileage and age, we have 141 from the 1st batch with 65K with no repairs. Toyota Lanka is absurdly expensive when it comes for repairs and parts are equally expensive. I was quoted Rs. 42K few years back to replace brake pads and the ac belt. Brought the originals from G* M****s and replaced at home for Rs. 24K There are good garages which could handle your car as it is very straight forward mechanically. As long as you keep proper records and use genuine parts brought from reputed place I believe there will not be any issue at time of resale.
  21. Most of the SUV 2WD counterparts have similar suspension and ground clearance. Eg: CRV, Sorento, Sportage, Rav 4..
  22. The all-new Insight is powered by the third generation of Honda's two-motor hybrid system, featuring a highly efficient 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle engine, a powerful electric propulsion motor, and lithium-ion battery pack. Total system output is 151 horsepower and 197 lb.-ft. of electric motor torque. Under most conditions, the Honda Insight operates as a series hybrid, in which the gasoline engine, connected to the generator motor, produces electricity that is supplied to either the electric propulsion motor and/or the 60-cell lithium-ion battery pack. The Insight features three selectable driving modes - NORMAL, ECON, and SPORT - allowing drivers to customize their experience by maximizing efficiency or driving performance. Additionally, all Insights have steering wheel-mounted deceleration selectors to choose among three levels of regenerative braking performance, depending on driving conditions. In normal mode, the Honda Insight is capable of all-electric driving for short distances of roughly a mile. Unlike competing systems, Honda's two-motor hybrid technology works without the need for a conventional automatic transmission, with the electric propulsion motor directly powering the drive axles. During higher speed operation a lock-up clutch connects the engine to the drive axles to provide the most efficient operation during highway and freeway driving. from Netcarshow.com
  23. Most of the 4WD/AWD which are available in SL are soft roaders (CRV, Rav4) are not much of use as they do not have sufficient ground clearance to manage off roading. If you get a land rover, land cruiser, montero sport you will be able to make use of the systems to do the National Parks without much trouble.
  24. In my view stay away from any electric car new or old. The biggest cost of ownership of a car is the depreciation. (Allion, Corolla, Axio owners may not agree) A three year old Leaf would have lost 600-800 k, in case of i3 it will be more i guess (not enough vehicles in the used market to correctly predict) This works out to approximately Rs. 200K per year i don't believe the saving of fuel over electricity would compensate for that. If you were to replace/ repair the battery it will be somewhere between Rs. 250k - 800K for the Leaf god only knows how much it will cost to replace a i3 battery.
  25. Comparable specs of the 1.5T at the agent is of SE the lowest spec of the UK imports which is around Rs. 6.0 Mn. When you get from the local agent you pay margin only for 1 party. Where as for the UK import you pay for the UK dealer as well as the local. Warranty cost is for the manufacturer so no cost for the agent. I believe UK cars come with 3 years of warranty which you loose when the car is exported to SL
