  1. 1000 cc Vitz vibrates like hell and sometimes feels like it is going to stall, difficult to drive in city. Swift 2007 and above 1250 cc with CVT in the other hand has better handling, equally economical, has a sweet free revving 4 cylinder dual vvti. You will enjoy this on your Badulla trips. It has better seats, climate control, key less operation (similar to push start), multi-function steering, traction control, fog lights depending on the model most of them absent in Vitz.
  2. Totally agreed I had a GLS some time back and two of my uncles had GLXs interior of the GLS is far superior with better seating material, may car had carbon fiber finish garnish in the dash but I believe most of the cars came with fake wood finish. 6 CD changer, steering audio control, discharge head lamps with cornering lamps, key less entry are the other features I remember. I is worth spending 100-200k more on GLS. I don’t think 40-70 km on the clock matters much as they are same year and genuine
  3. Get a CRV (RM2) will do better 16kmpl (Malabe - Kurunegala - Puttalam - Peliyagoda) Sadly it does only 7kmpl on my daily Colombo commute. This is where Hybrids count. By the way most people do not buy Hybrids for fuel economy but for the low purchase price because of the idiotic tax system. If you import a Honda Fit non-hybrid it will cost over Rs. 4.8 Mn. whereas the Hybrid will be less than Rs. 4.0 Mn. Hopefully your fuel saving will offset the high value loss in resale
  4. Z71s Indian make should be within your budget
  5. Exact reason why I opt for a GP5 as a second. Same amount of space, still more economical, less useless options Only issue will be the marginal ground clearance. Oh I got the one with balls (body kit)
  6. Since you are ok with manual transmission may i suggest Suzuki Swift. Has better ride and handling than Viva. Better engine around same economy.
  7. Going rate for RE4 Rs. 3.8-4.0 Mn.
  8. CRV 2007-11 (RE) might be within your budget
  9. Similar issue in my uncles car, get stuck afer about 3-4 songs in USB. Only solution to reset
  10. You would have found this if you cared to search this forums https://www.dropbox.com/s/rar8uyavstpz6wc/Vezel.pdf?dl=0
  11. There are further recalls www.honda.co.jp/recall this will be in Japanese you will have to use a translater like google Chrome Oh boy Honda has got things messed up this time By the way I heard that S******D is doing the upgrades FOC
  12. Official figure for Honda Vezel, new without depriciation Rs. 1.7 Mn. Approximatly Rs. 75-100k less than previous
  13. From what i know hybrid tax will come down for small cars will be 50% from current 60%. Vezel should come down by Rs. 300k Will let know by tom on the exact figure.
  14. try this http://owners.honda.com/vehicles/information/2014/Civic-Coupe/features/Paddle-Shifters
  15. if you buy the original audio system, you get two extra buttons in the steering audio control. if it is same as CRV it will control the setup and display mode in your screen. Will updated when my BIL car lands.
  16. What about Nexus 4, little smaller 5” vs 5.5” but same FHD screen, smaller camera 8 MP vs 13 MP, nobody really needs 13MP. Nexus will auto upgrade to Lollipop. With Nexus 6 out in the market prices will come down soon
  17. Anybody knows where I can get down a crystal ball, willing to exchange it to a used Corolla 141
  18. Cost effective if you are commercial electricity user, per unit cost is around Rs. 22-27 or less if you are industry. Charge the darn thing at office
  19. Modern engines especially hybrids have lot of electronics and electrical fittings inside the engine bay. Water and also condensation could harm them and play havoc. Best is to just dust or use a blower to take the dust out. You don’t need to keep them clean unless for cosmetic effect. Or get an expert job done once in awhile may be a steam clean. You could just hose the surrounding areas carefully without splashing on to electronic parts and leave it to dry keeping the bonnet open. Or wipe off with a damp cloth. Kerosene oil or engine degreasers will not be required generally unless there is a oil leak or something. Kerosene and substandard engine degreasers could also do more harm than good. Generally I don’t let anybody even the service people wash the engine this has worked fine for the last couple of decades. Only time I wash the engine is when I want to sell it to look nice.
  20. It has all the ingredients for success It is UGLY It is TOTOYA It is HYBRID It has SEATS THAT ROTATES It can SEAT MORE THAN 5 PERSONS It is MADE IN JAPAN (and JDM) so exceptional quality It has NAVIGATION It has MULTIFUNCTION And the list goes on
  21. This is true even with the agents. I was told that the BMW X3 is manufactured in Germany. Then I saw this Discovery program on BMW USA plant where they were harping about how proud they are of the fact that the X3 is manufactured only there. Today you really cant base the quality on were the car is manufactured as even the Japanese built / assembled source parts from other countries. Toyota, Honda manufactured in Japan source certain parts from their plant in Thailand

Ok here goes, I brought a 2013 last June, had it for nearly 15 months now, done 15,000 km Does 7-8 km/l in Colombo in my daily commute from Hokandara to Colombo. Best 16 km/l on a trip to Puttalam, average out station 12 km/l Service cost at the agent very reasonable, only little more than the average service station. Very roomy for five, enough boot space for stuff of three kids. More comfy than the Lancer EX that got replaced and the Corollas/ Allions/ Prado/ Montero which I have been in and driven. Handling is typical small SUV you can’t throw her around corners, but can eat long distances at decent speeds without much effort. Not very good at traffic light drags but when it starts going between gear acceleration good (mine is a 5 speed auto not the CVT JDM) Brand new imports are not idiot proof so you don’t get traction control or stability control you get in the JDM. Neither cruise control and useless navigation system. Plus side you get electric leather seats and electronic 4WD, which I felt kicking in rarely. Would have preferred little more ground clearance, and with the limitations on the 4WD didn’t have much courage to put her off road. It concurs speed bumps, pavements and bad roads without any difficulties. Most probably will get replaced by a Audi Q5 or a Harrier when time comes
