  1. Similar issue happened to my BILs vehicle some years back (Vitz) Similar symptoms everything else worked locks, dash board indicators, radio but the car wouldn't start. Following day battery was dead. Had to carry the car for car to repair and the diagnostics did not work either as the ECU was fried. He had to replace ECU, alternator, a/c pump, power steering and numerous sensors. Fortunately his insurance covered the cost under natural disaster damages.
  2. You don't need a cabinet paper, i believe there is provision through import control department. You need to get a import license giving details of the vehicle, they will be able to help you out Duty will be the other issue, will need to touch base with customs for that Lot of red tape and running around
  3. We have one of early 141 2007 which has done 67K, you need to change the spark plugs at 40K if i remember correct. Your owners manual should give frequency for routine/ preventive maintainance If the engine is running smoothly and not loss of power or economy don't bother
  4. Yes works on Apple and Android, you can copy directly from the card to PC too Has parking monitoring as well, good camera for a budget So far heat has had no effect, car is parked directly in the sun during the day Will have to see how it manages with time
  5. My experience with following vehicles on 90 later 92 against 95 no noticeable effect on economy or performance. Lancer CS1, March K11, Lancer EX (1.5), Toyota Corolla 141, Swift 1.2 L, Honda CRV 2.0, Honda Fit GP5, Kia Picanto, Wagon R FZ Only on the lancer CS1 I have noticed slight engine knock from stand still under full throttle but this was when it was 90 octane
  6. Everyone is speculating, no body knows what is happenning I was told they were going to lift the restriction with the budget, 1st April, 1st May, 1st June and now this Most of the speculations by vehicle traders mafia for their advantage

For the price i think it is worth 32GB will me more than adequate
  8. Oh goody all of them could get down wagon R
  9. Got some through Ali Express yet to apply, had good reviews on the product
  10. Since you already have a better engine which could give you trouble free motoring for years why don't you swap it
  11. Maintenance at the agent is not so bad filters cost less than Jap counterparts at their agents Body part could be a problem as there are not many used supplies
  12. Good old tested technology nothing fancy, should last for ages if taken care They give 5 year, 100k km warranty here and 7 years in some counties
  13. Just did the 15 k service with no oil change, however they request you to do a service every 5k no choice as I'm on warranty Mercedes, Porsche change every 10k and 15k or one year Kia 5k 6 months although book says 10k 1yr
  14. Our Wagon R brought from A*W with their warranty, they change oil every 10,000 km. I believe they use synthetic 5W30

    Engine Braking

Designed for all that and the looks
  16. Company, has 5 years warranty so no need to worry on spares, get a good insurance that cover company rates that should sort out body parts
  17. No, Not fuel efficient, being a Korean car it will be a underdog to all except Celero, people think Wigo is Japanese although it is built in Malayasia or Indonesia for poor countries. So predicting a resale value would be difficult. However what it will do a put a smile every time you drive it, it is the best drivers car of the lot by miles. As far as safety is concern it will be the best if you opt for the one with ABS and air bags, this is the only car out of the lot design for Europe and is rated high in tests. Besides it handles and hold on to the road better which will avoid one getting in to a situation. Your choice five years of compromised driving may be for probable saving of couple of 100K, or 5 years of satisfied motoring. By the way Kia offers 5 years 100k warranty so you will have only routine maintenance

    Engine Braking

Brakes are designed to dissipate heat, that is why most of them are vented (at least front) and wheels have holes in them to allow are flow to brakes at expense of poor aerodynamics. Performance cars use exotic materials which do not fade due to better thermal properties
  19. I was going by the budget comments where they proposed luxury tax based on CIF as a % May be it is not implemented still
  20. Good for you, got same figures around 14-15kmpl when my wife was using on urban drives Colombo during rush hours 10kmpl Economy meter in the car is around 10% optimistic you need to factor that if you are going by that.

    Engine Braking

Engine braking is using internal friction of the engine to slowdown, this is what you experience when you lift off your foot from the accelerator. Amount of friction available will depend on the type of engine. If used properly there is potential saving on fuel and wear and tare in braking components. You need to anticipate the traffic conditions and use the throttle to manage the speed, in a manual you could down shift and in auto use 3,2,1/L/S (for slope) as applicable for each vehicle. When down shifting you one should take care not to over rev the engine. This is no alternative to brakes but a supplementary technique. This will not bring the car to a full stop hence you will need to use normal braking in emergencies/ driving in heavy traffic etc..

    Engine Braking

New brake pads/ liners take time to cure and set in and take will take couple of hundred Km to get in to their full performance. This is why it is recommended that you take it easy during this time as brake fade what you have experienced could happen if with continuous use as they overheat.
  23. This is at old duty structure / luxury tax now is 100% on any petrol vehicle with a CIF over Rs. 3.5 Mn. Accordingly Mazda 6 CIF Rs. 4.5 mil., Duty Rs. 12.7 Mil., Lux Tax Rs. 4.5 mil., Duty concession Rs. 3.6 mil = Rs. 18.1 mil Mercedes C200 CIF Rs. 8 mil., Duty Rs. 5.5 Mil., Lux Tax 8.0., Duty concession Rs. 3.6 mil = Rs. 17.6 mil Thanks to policy makers who still think size matters
  24. G* M****s Rajagiriya
  25. I still cannot believe why people buy expensive stuff without proper warranty or service. Things go wrong on new stuff be it a TV, Camera or your car. Person pays Rs. 8.0 Mn. on a new Audi does not want to stretch extra Rs. 500-600 K for the agent import with a service baking and a warranty. Wagon R is available with the agent with a good warranty for Rs. 200-300K more or may be even less
