What Is The Cons And Pros For 1300Cc And 1500Cc
kush replied to jayashantha12345's topic in General Automotive
I had a CS1 1.3 manual few years back, it is not that under powered 90 bhp even the Corolla 1.5 has only 105 bhp. Dont expect racing car performance, you adjust your driving style accordingly. After all it is not the size, it is what you do with what you got. I used to the car to travel to Nuwara Eliya and back via Hatton every week for two years with 4 guys with a weeks load of luggage. Only place where I had to change in to 1st gear was Radalla hill. In level ground it can keep up with any other car driven by a decent driver. It is a good and a reliable car, mine was a 2002 brand new imported wich i used from 2004-2008 (from 30k to 85 k) and only the front shocks repaced at 35K. As for fuel it used to average 12-13 kmpl on my NE trips and 9-10 kmpl in Colombo traffic. Good thing is you will be able to buy a car for a song because of this stigma about the 1.3 engine, however must warn you you will face the same situ whan you want the sell the darn thing. Word of advice most of the cars were brought down and hired to various companies/ organisations by a subsideary of the Agent and is now in the hands of used vehicle sellers. Most of them are clocked so check the history of the vehicle and buy. Good luck -
Personal Experiance: I bought a 46" LCD from UK last year before duty was reduced Cost: GBP 600 + Shipping GBP 30 (Rs. 113,400/-) As the TV was over the permissible limit of 42" I was charged duty Rs. 25,000/-, I pesonnaly went to clear the goods, TV came with some other personal stuff. If it was below 42" I would have got it cleared within our duty free allowance. (my self & wife) Generally customs are not very strict if the stuff is for your personal use and that they are convinced that you are not bring it for resale. New price of equivalent model at that time was over Rs. 275,000/-, total saving over Rs. 136,000/-

Anything below 42" could be cleared within your duty free allowance (if you are entitled) No point in 3D at the moment you dont have enough material to watch. You have to be carefull if you are carring it air cargo for potntial damage.

Model: Corolla CE-100 Manufactured year: 1991 Engine Capacity : 2000 (2C) Fuel type : Diesel Transmission Type : Manual Economy : (kmpl) city limits = 12-13 (in 1994-1999) (kmpl) Out stations = 15-17 (Sold this car in 1999, this is what I rememberd)

lousy car, too expensive for that vintage. Wear and tare is more compared to Toyota CE100 or 110, most of these cars would have covered over 200k you will have to expect some running maintainance. Hope you have done a cost analysis considering additional purchase price, license cost, service cost against running a petrol car.

With a CVT gear box you could get extreme fuel figures. My swift does only 9-10 in Colombo city however I have observed 15-18 in outstation flat roads. I have noticed that in flat roads engine is truring at only 2000-2500 rpm at 70-80 kmph.

Suzuki Swift Japanese 2008 - High Fuel Consuption
kush replied to Hiran_j's question in Mechanical problems
Due to air/ dust pollution and substandard fuel in Sri Lanka oil get contaminated, frequent changes would be better. However i do agree with the fact that synthetic gives smoother engine and startup wear is reduced. -

Why does one want to use synthetic oil on a basic engine, I've known the benifts of synthetic oils but on a basic engine which is happy run on mineral oil why spend extra. I've used mineral on my vehicles for the last 20 years some of them clocked over 200k and have never touched an engine. -
2011 Mitsubishi Montero Sport Diesel Launched By Uml
kush replied to Pericles's topic in News & Updates
Montero Sport is a derivative of Mitsubishi Pickup (L200). Former version has 1980’s technology (4D56T engine) at least the new one has a bit more modern common rail setup. As for comfort and handling one cant hide the origin, even with the multi link setup in the back ride and handling is mediocre. Thai built quality is not as same as Japan, you will see this when you compare cars in the show room. However on the positive side this has a ladder frame chassis which would make it better off road compared to Koreans on offer. -
It will most probably based on the engine capacity, so a 2.4l Toyota Camry will be luxury and a VW Passat 1.4l TSI will not.

Is your car Indian, 2008 Jap need 0-30,5-30,10-30 oil, check your manual

Depends on the Tyre, road conditions, vehicle, driving style. Your mileage seems reasonable under average conditions.

The price increse in Japanese vehicles mainly due to the unfavorable JPY exchange rate Jan 2008 1 JPY = Rs. 0.95 Jan 2009 1 JPY = Rs. 1.27 Jan 2010 1 JPY = Rs. 1.23 Jan 2011 1 JPY = Rs. 1.36 Today 1 JPY = Rs. 1.41 Technically a Japanese car cost 40-50% now compared to 2008 and are fast becoming uncompetitive compared to Korian and Euro vehicles. One can't expect the goverment to give concessions to make Japs more attractive.

Ooops, how did topic end up in the home page discussions

Your manual will define severe driving and is usually: Very cold/ hot climate Very short stop/ start journeys (sales people etc.) Very high speed driving In my opinion none of them apply, according to my knowledge your car needs oil change every 15k or (12 months) stick to it and save the money and the environment. Service stations, oil suppliers recommend frequent changes as they make money selling oil. Stick to the manufactures recommendation. Since the engine is new use 5-30, 10-30, 15-30 grade which is what A*W recommend, Caltex, Mobil and Toyota have them.

Suzuki Swift Japanese 2008 - High Fuel Consuption
kush replied to Hiran_j's question in Mechanical problems
Your car requires very thin oil, 30 is the important number, even the agents recommend 5-30, 10-30 availablity is much better now, you get Mobil, Toyota even Caltex Magnetic. I used Toyota for my last change as there was a shortage at the time. -
Suzuki Swift Japanese 2008 - High Fuel Consuption
kush replied to Hiran_j's question in Mechanical problems
Consumption of 10/11 kmpl is right for this model Raw petrol smell could be due to a leak or too rich fuel mixture, which will also explain the higher consumption. Check for leaks on fuel lines under the engine. If it is a small leak it might not be visible. Your battery terminals migh have got loose, check them, and get the battery checked for charge, your local battery shop will most probably do this free. Get the car checked by the agent, they have the equipment and the charges are reasonable too. I hope you used 5-30, or 10-30 engine oil. -
By the time you get your Santa Fe the new model will be out
