  1. Got the T/A moving under its own power and washed it today  It's soooo close to being roadworthy ... F it, we don't need no stinking exhaust, Open headers FTW!!!
  2. Thunder Chicken = taken The Great White T ... lol ... I like that one
  3. Actually, I prefer this to cardomain.
  4. if anyone's got a fquick page, post up!!! If we have enough people, we create an autolanka group there (no use creating a group with like 2 people ... lol). mine ... www.fquick.com/meangreenz28
  5. PIMP! Dude in the dirt bike with slicks = crazy!
  6. Well, I was signing up for a forum and had to come up with a name quick and kinda came up with "That Guy 2-1" ... lol ... I know it's stupid but atleast I won't be limited by the name in the future. How do I go about changing my name here? Can a mod. do that for me?
  7. Ferrari FXX? If I'm right, someone else post up an image, I'm just not that imaginative ... lol
  8. The main reason was the bi-yearly emissions inspection. The Camaro is a '94 model and requires a true tailpipe sniffer test and with my powertrain swap and modifications, it'll surely fail that test without any doubt. And it's a pain in the ass to try and get waivers (where you have to submit receipts totaling $350 trying to prove you tried to fix it) or in my case, find someone you can pay off and get it waived for the next 2 years. It just became a hassle. '97 and above requires only a plug in test 'cos it's OBD-II so as long as there's no codes showing in the PCM, you're good to go. And we have the software to turn the codes of so it's a breeze. Also, the Camaro was kinda showing its age 'cos the paint was starting to fade. A good paint job would cost me ~$3000 so I didn't wanna just bust up that amount of money. Also, the Camaro didn't have the T-tops that I've always wanted. So when I was given the opportunity to buy this T/A with everything I wanted (inc. leather interior), I jumped at it!
  9. Total budget was exceeded sometime when I started the project ... lol ... since I'm swapping most of the stuff from the Camaro, it's not a big expense right now ... and I can get some of it back when I sell the Camaro. I got this car for $1500 (can you say AWESOME DEAL?) 'cos it had a busted engine and some other misc. issues (nothing major), but I've spent close to about $10K (or a bit north of that) on the setup on the Camaro so, I guess we can factor that in. The suspension alone cost me $1500!!!
  10. Well, like I mentioned earlier, the manual trans swap is a definite. I'm just waiting for my other car to be towed back so I can swap the pedals/etc. This is turning into a manual and the older car is turning into a auto (and gonna be sold). Need to cut a hole in the floorboard for the shifter and one in the firewall for the clutch master cylinder and everything can go back in after the pedals go in. I just don't have all my tools at home so things are gonna be a bit slow. As for the rest of the car, all the suspension components (Koni shocks, Ground Control adj. height spring setup, misc. control arms/etc.) and wheels/etc. off the old car are gonna be swapped. In essence, you can kinda say I just switched bodies ... lol Well, the LS1 (or LS series 'cos there's LS1/2/3/6/7/A/etc.) is a GM motor and they put it in everything they can squeeze it in from the Corvette to pickup trucks. The TransAm and Camaro have always been built on the same platform (just different body and some int. pieces) so everything is interchangeable. Mine isn't a true LS1 per say if we get technical, it's "LS1 based" ... block is an iron block version of the aluminum block LS1 which is called the LQ9 block which was installed in trucks (LQ9=6.0ltr, LS1=5.7ltr), heads are off a LS6 engine, intake is from a LS2 (Pontiac GTO engine) ... it's a true mutt!!!
  11. Yeah, these are directly off my own camera ... it's been floating around the net for a while now, just didn't remember if I posted it over here
  12. We were hanging out at the shop after hours and had a little bothal party and thought I'd be interesting to fool around a bit...
  13. Towed the new (well, old but new to me) car home from the shop after the drivetrains were swapped with the Camaro (Mutt Sr.). Didn't feel like sleeping last night, so took the interior apart with whatever hand tools I could find lying around the garage to get it ready for the manual trans. swap. Here, I just used some detailing products on just the d/s fender (refer to the thread I made about detailing, I believe it's a sticky) ... came out nice ... just need to wash the whole car and then do the whole thing now...
  14. lol funny shit
  15. sanded it a bit and used body filler (Bondo) and then sanded it smooth
  16. so, after having these rims/tires sitting around for over like 6 months, I finally repainted them (had a bunch of scratches when i bought them used) and mounted them on the daily driver, '01 Ford Focus SE. Just phone camera pics for now, but I think it improved the look of the car tenfold! Went from 15" to 17" Click for larger pics.
  17. None
  18. Well, while the engine's out I had one of my friend's g/f's jump in the engine compartment and make vroom vroom sounds ... lol ... she got HUGE knockers and does modeling at auto shows/etc.
  19. The way I see it, cops LIKE modified cars 'cos it's easier to give out a ticket ... am I wrong? lol As for the license plate issue, over here, the law is that it should be affixed to the front-most portion of the car in clear view. Cops don't care if it's on the left or right as long as it's somewhere in front clearly visible. Some of us have them underneath on the airdam and some of us (like me) have gotten away with just positioning it inside the car against the windshield on the pass. side. Some cops don't give a shyt, but if they get your doing other stupid shyt, they'll fine you for that too ... either that or it's the end of the month and they start giving away tickets for practically anything just to fill their quota.
  20. Well, White Knight/lightning is already taken (remember, I use the same name on a lot of forums) and most of the stuff that we can think of relating to Firebird's and T/A's have def. been taken ... I'm just thinking of going with something personal like "2-1" as in Tuan (my first name) ... lol
  21. Yeah, it's a Firebird TransAm. Firebirds don't have have the ground effects (different front and rear bumpers) and the rear wing.
  22. wow, this is sad
  23. White Elephant? lol ... it actually may be an elephant, The stock rear wing alone supposedly weighs like 30lbs.! I'll get pics tomorrow when I drop by the shop after work. Right now, it's sitting with the front end high up in the air with my spare front wheels/tires because the engine/tranny is out and the suspension is unloaded ... lol, looks like it's constantly launching at the drag strip! it looks exactly like this, but will soon be lowered and sporting the wheels I currently have on mine (in sig.): What I like about it is the removable glass t-tops and the leather interior which I don't have in my current car...
  24. Just sealed the deal and purchased an almost stock White '98 Pontiac TransAm on Thursday. Got it dirt cheap 'cos it has a gaping hole on the side of its block and oil pan 'cos the previous owner did something stupid and over-revved it for a little too long causing a rod to let go ... lol. So ... the entire powertrain/exhaust/suspension/wheels/misc. mods. are being swapped between the cars and the Green Machine is gonna be sold after I get it running with a used short-block that I've located (to replace the one with a slight compression problem .. lol) and the rest of the stock components from the new car. It's gonna be a long and grueling week trying to get parts swapped ... engine/tranny was dropped today LOTs more to do What should I call myself now? Mean White TA seems stupid ...
