It was actually made in Mexico search for Tsuru from a popular Japanese brand. There was an article on the web that said that the Y61 is still being produced for certain countries. I myself thought that it ended production just before covid hit, but doesn't seem so.

Well although we never checked the excise duty changed every year after the budget. Compare today's and 2019 budget excise duty and you will see how it has changed. On top of this you need to pay VAT based on the total of 110% of vehicle + excise duty.
-
Max 3 years old for motor cars.
-
So the duty goes up Also interestingly they have put a depreciation table which is confusing and also letting people import on their old permits which numbers more than 20,000 which could be a loss of revenue for govt.

It will be classified as a hybrid. I checked on the technicality with customs when I first saw the Note and their classification was hybrid. The reason was there is no charging from external power supply (grid)

Good trivia @Hyaenidae

Someone take my turn.

Don't know if you saw this, good listen to understand the situation. An idea of things to come, the way he says 1.5b is nothing flashes a lot of red flags for me.
-
He meant De Tomaso Panterra

Believe this was discussed in the thread previously. It is supposedly built on a VW platform to look like the Bertone Carabo. This is infact a kit car. Kit car manufacturer is Fibrefab and the model is Aztec7 The reason for the Ford mention was because of the tail lamp design.

Very true, I can see how animated people are about getting new vehicles for below 3m dare I say. If cars don't come at that price they will point to the government as you say. Anyways I feel this lifting of restrictions is not going to go well. Even if they lift restrictions you will have a massive influx of used cars within the first month. If it doesn't happen the dealers would have already hoarded cars at very cheap prices and will put them out at higher premiums.

Looks like a Ford but I am unable to pinpoint the correct model.

"Honda Honda sellam eliwena jameta" If someone doesn't get a ruling according to his or her desire they resort to accusing everyone else. There was a video being calculated saying that 5 associations have got together and this is how they will import. When a so called reporter asked what general public should do they said the general public should buy vehicles, meaning buy from them at their prices. Most of these stories are not coming from the government nor the Treasury but from third parties who have become the mouthpiece for vehicle imports.

Happy new year guys, let this new year bring you exciting motoring and lots of fun. Enjoy!

Luxury tax calculation is wrong. For petrol anything above 4 mil is calculated at 100% for hybrid anything above 3.5m calculated at 90%. Electric anything above 6m is calculated at 60%. The 12m was only for the migrant worker permit. Also I think the 1000cc category is wrong need to check.

Ooh I love these big V8 cars, this I believe is made in the land down under and sold in the UK and the US and down under different brands.
-
They have come a long way from the knock off vehicles they made in the early 2000s. They still do make a few knock offs based on the popular G Class and the Wrangler models. This is off one of their brands, shows how much industry has grown in the last two decades.
-
@matroska can go ahead. Oh yes internationally it's been the vehicle of choice for the UN and all. No no in Sri Lanka just the V8 badge would suffice for the crowd. Only a handful will make use of the features, for most some of these buttons and cosmetic stuff are just things to show off or something that gives you more market value regardless of you making use of it at all. I think only the Aussie and the African countries use them for what they are.
-
On the first pic the button in front of the rotating knob and on the third left side button in front of the lower rotating knob.
-
To have these in a fleet in Sri Lanka has to be the government. Shifter pattern should tell you the brand. I was expecting it to be the older version but nope it's from the generation before the current. The feature you are referring to is the crawl function?
-
Nah it was the company car, it was more of a show piece. It ran many an event in the SL1600 events. One time it held the record for its class at Mahagastota. There was one guy who had made a Sri Lanka home page on Facebook. Agency was with Browns and changed hands to new company that was formed when Browns gave up the motor division. It was more or less dead by that time and no one wanted to take up the agency. Few new models that have come up since then but I don't think it will be back as brand in Sri Lanka given the issues the Stellantis group is having.

It was the door panel and the matching seat design along with the weird door handle that gave it away for me. My initial days in the industry I was bought up alongside these. Only one I couldn't drive was the Saxo as it was in race trim and we used to generally push it into place rather than starting the thing.

Once a very successful rally car, never really took off in Sri Lanka due to its design and brand name. In the 2000s the local racing scene witnessed two model from the brand, but not this model, sadly the performance version of this was very like warm.
