Hi guys found this nice flash presentation on Land rover official website thought of sharing with you people. Mind you it takes a bit of time to load. RRSSupercharged

Oh my god... Its as I thought, I live around this area but sadly the Motor show took my day that day or else I could have gone to see the action. Good mud eh??? specially now the decent down to that place should be covered in mud with the rain and possibly underwater.
-
Well I don't have pics but I remembered, There was an occasion that I saw this Hyundai Sonata Hmatic the one copied from the Jag with a X Type badge. Now that is funny. Manufacturers should ban those sort of things.
-
Thats not a Defender.. Thats an Old Series 3 over 30 years old with Coil spring upgrade. So much for the Brand name Jeep. Even the new ones cant match the older Land Rovers. If I'm not mistaken that second one is the new Wrangler sponsored by D*mo for 4X4 challenge. Any idea where this took place cos it looks quite similar to the area where I live around and go for a bath.

SO do I think that its a Toyota, but model am not sure.
-
Well if that is bad in the F1 scenario you have to check out the WRC, the Current championship leader sebastian Loeb who is 35 points in front of his nearest rival has broken his arm mountain biking in his home town. That would leave him out of the championship till next month.

This is really bad.. A guy said he is trying to bring down the LR3 remote control model to sri lanka and I was waiting to get my hands on it, then the govnmnt comes and takes away that opportunity. SAD SAD situ. Hope they wont do the same thing to model cars as well.

I saw an ad in yesterdays paper by A*W for the Tida, but they did not mention the name. It seems the brand new N16 Sunny stocks have finally come to an end in Sri Lanka. Its a shame that recon dealers got to sell it before the agent even thought of bringing it out. A recon at 3.4mil?? So that means the brand new (WHat ever name they might call it here) will be more in price unless they have put a super deal to undercut the recon dealers. I have seen many of them on the road & in car sales places around, looks as even with its higher price they are selling well.

I saw Fuzzo's new signature just awhile ago. It say If NISMO is Nissans Motorsport division Honda Motorsport should be HOMO.... Thats a nice one.

Some do Hola.. For example the Range Sport went off roading in the Habarana run, so did the V8 discovery as you can see in the gallery. Some feel scared to put there machines in the rough stuff, but once they get to know what these vehicles are capable of they have no problems whatsoever. But that doesn't mean that they have to go and put their vehicles in every off road tournament or everywhere they see mud. You would be suprised to see how many of the people who have modified Defenders, BJ40, Nissan Patrols really do put their vehicles to the test, for them these are just meant for posing on the road, lets say out of my way small man I'm bigger and can consume you.

In fact as far as I know many of these Range Rover Classics are been used on off road courses by Australians, they are supposed to be good performers. One of my colleagues have a Range Rover Classic even in its old form it still is better than most of the current Japanese SUV's when it comes to luxury, off road part also it is far better than most of the newer ones.
-
sorry for late reply cos this week was quite a hectic week. Yes the one & only Range Sport took part in the drive. But sad to say he missed the off road mud section cos he was told to take an alternate route along with the Freelanders without crossing the bitch Aara amidst our guys saying to go. I dont know why you regard the old classic not having a good offroader, Indika Sanjaya the winner of most of the local off road events uses one.
-
Well Don, I went with them as a crew member. Yes the newer ones performed really well on the mud as well as in the V groves. The off road section of the Fun drive was held in the Habarana 4X4 challenge extreme stage. There were no problems with the vehicles as all went well and arrived back without any drama.

OT: guys just had the opportunity of driving a Second generation Discovery against the third gen Discovery. They are worlds apart when it comes to all aspects. This is what is needed from a newer model. If the underpinnings & whats under the bonnet is the same its no point even bothering to buy something like that. Why pay more for a facelift version and come down on the resale value in case that is changed before a year passes. Mitsubishi has done well with the rally cars (paris-dakar & WRC). But they got to put more into what they make for day to day use. I'm not condemning the make but why not build something new with state of the art technology and beat your competition & come out on top rather than become an also ran. How has Nissan managed to wipe out there debt?? They had a good backing from Renault and now they are back in the reckoning with newer models with better quality.

Err guys this I think is the replacement for the UK Almera. It'll never be a soft roader 4X4. The base specs are all 1600cc & 2000cc petrol engines and all wheel drive is only available in the 2000cc as an option. But the most important is that according to sources the Diesel 2000cc is more powerful than the 2000cc petrol by 10bhp. thus it should be quicker as well. the X-trail will not be replaced till next year. I'm not sure whether it'll ever come to Sri Lanka as the Sunny / Pulsar replacement since already the Tiida is released in most countries. But guys I think the Interior is much better for a Nissan and the Panoramic windshield will also look good.
-
Well this OT I know about the sport & the RR. They are both completely different & owned by two different ppl, trust me on this cos I work for the company & I have had the honour of selling one of these machines myself. Also both vehicles are black & one vehicle the sport was bought there by my superiors driver / maybe him. Pls get your facts right do not go with what ppl want you to believe is true. In fact I shall go the extra mile and say that I'm the one who sent both vehicles to you for shooting. And Hola I do think so too. but should leave that to the administrators
-
Hey p.nanayakkara has only a RR06. Yep its a damn nice vehicle. If you want to see the performance of the Range you gotta drive it and see..
-
I do beleive that this is a face lift version since its got the same old engines as the current model. There are no major changes from the current model to this as you can see, so why price it at a very high price??? If its all new it'll be more pricier and would move on into the 4.0litre Prado teritory. There is a current version at the price they are quoting for the new model. BTW stingray the old classic car is one of Mitsubishi's first ever allwheel drive vehicles that is far as I can remember from the Wiki.

Guys check out the following link for the new Toyota Land Cruiser. Land Cruiser Cheers

Me in the back seat. Suzuki Baleno 1.6 - 140kmph with baggage on route to Habarana on the Land rover Fun Drive maxed out due to modifications done to transmission to make it accelerate faster (final drive changed). Some even went better clocking 180kmph++. 120kmph on the journey back.

I think the most expensive will be the bullet proof X5's used by government. Word is that they cost (CIF) around the same amount as a S550 duty paid or more. So multiply that by 3 and you get a rough idea of the value of the vehicles duty paid.
-
I think I know the guy who bought the car. But not sure as yet. According to his drivers its a S550 and valued at more than Rs. 50mil. He has specified all the options and its supposed to be loaded to the max cos he wants everything on the vehicle. He has other vehicles like luxury BMW's a Range Rover 06 plus other vehicles. Well we do curse the duty rates in the country, but there are still ppl who do buy these sorts of expensive vehicles. So compared to other countries we must be pretty rich......

those pics looks a bit like Italian styling. Specially the rear where it looks like an alfa / fiat. But in ucscsades spy shots it looks more Subaru'ish.

I thought of starting up a new discussion on WRC cars & their road versions. Standings for drivers If you have been following the current WRC standings you would see that the Citroen team is leading the manufacturers & Drivers championships. Mind you this is an old car. Second in line is the Ford Team. They are followed by Subaru, Peugeot, Mitsubishi & Skoda. Mitsubishi & Subaru have built up names for them with their performance versions in Sri Lanka and abroad. So has Ford established themselves abroad. The question will be what about the others?? Would you guys go for a Citroen Xsara or a Peugeot 307 / 206 or a Skoda performance version if they were offered in Sri Lanka as second hand at a very cheap rate. (note the pugs are offered here at low rates, but not the performance models)??? Next thing is I read in an old AUtocar magazine about the similarities between the WRC vehicles and their performance vehicles. The Evo & Scooby head the list being very close in the performance aspect & well as the looks whereas the others are worlds apart from their rallying cars.
