  1. that should be a pretty straight forward conversion cos the engine mounts are the same. I guess there will be a big demand for 121 engines and 1800cc allion engines in the future. argh! why am I getting de ja vu's of the nsu ro80 now?
  2. I saw a a green 850 or a v70 recently. probably the only non-undertaker used volvo wagon here. I don't know if there are any t5 saloons here. but I know for sure our people are too tame to get a t5 station wagon. your best bet would be to get a standard station wagon and bring down a t5-r or an r kit. I got familiar with the t5r while I was in uk. my uncle had one brought down from italy and it was always 200 km/h all the way down the A3 on our way to guildford. It was dark green and had black leather and alcantara seats and those lovely 17" gunmetal wheels. I can still remember the 5 cylinder turbo singing whenever we drove through the hills of surrey. It was a tail happy beast too
  3. I don't think the customs allow damaged cars into the country. and looking at that damage i'm pretty sure the boot floor is bent so you'll have to replace quite a few panels. if you are repairing this car in an "ethical" manner this will cost you about 300-400k. a lot more if you do it through the agents. seeing the disdain of many members about repaired vehicles I would like to add something. I've spent the best part of last 2 years in garages and I've seen accident damaged vehicles being repaired with various levels of skill. some used brand new parts which were welded back on to the original welding points and repaired to the original state. mostly the owners took this route. there was another type who just wanted to fix things cheaply. that involved a lot of cataloy and hammering. and some of the newer vehicles didn't have airbags in the end cos they were expensive to replace. this also meant they used blow torches on stressed components of the vehicles thus weakening them. so they were cutting a lot of corners. so a vehicle like this with telltale signs of accident repair is worth avoiding. but I wouldn't mind buying a vehicle although its been in an accident if its been repaired to a good standard. look at most of the performance cars here in sl anyway. how many hasn't been rolled or shunted? I know people who buy these cars anyway with the understanding they were mended properly. I think without judging a car based on accidents its had we should actually look at how well it was mended.
  4. sticking to the topic there's a rather well kept international on a by road of templers road. can't remember what the road is called but its the last one that goes towards sirimal uyana before keells if you are coming from the bakery junction end.
  5. I think Zambo is a genius. he always manages to ruin a grownup thread with some redneck/chav-ness
  6. Thanks Priyanka. yes that's the link I used.
  7. Guys whats this Haamudhuru/temple permit? I've seen some temples importing older vehicles and the import control website said you can import a vehicle up to 10 years old with it. What are the constraints of this permit? as in engine capacity and vehicle value wise, any tax reductions? can the vehicle be transferred right away?
  8. Model: Toyota Allion 260 Manufactured year: 2007 Engine Capacity : 1.5 Fuel type : 90 Octane Transmission Type : CVT Economy City: 11-12 Outstation: 18-19
  9. true that! I managed to find all the parts needed for an alfa 156 on ebay within half an hour. whereas its taken me 2 months now to find a winder motor for the allion with no results. only a handful of people deal with jap parts online. the ones in japan are insanely overpriced. same goes for the ones in uk.
  10. like the tone of this writer. in fact anyone who runs out of fuel on the expressway should be fined shit loads
  11. People are just quoting unearthly prices for these things cos they are difficult to find. the craziest I heard was 180k for an allion 240 compressor a few years ago. another said it'll be 130k for an original 260 unit. anyway one guy promised me he can fit an original allion 260 compressor when mine goes bust for 65k. but he told me the best option would be to fit a more robust 121 compressor for 25k
  12. I always pick the gorillavidz and putlocker links.
  13. No but I guess we should use them for our own safety. Imagine having a rear seat passenger crash onto the back of your seat when you are being held firmly by your seatbelt or being ejected from a rolling vehicle. I've heard enough horror stories not to keep anyone unfastened.
  14. Like Rover said it was actually an Allion. considering the reputation and douchebaggary that goes with allion drivers these days I'm sure it was a case of I shalt not be moved.
  15. Yea its as if they've run out of tricks. even the jokes are being recycled over and over again. anyway I read somewhere andy wilman saying top gear would be dead after season 10 or so. I'm happy they've managed to keep it going so far.
  16. yea and mines done 20k
  17. haiyoo! Get your tyres balanced. one of thems probably lost a wheel weight
  18. so what does that make you? another nobody, only with less friends because you got a hybrid and you can't stop talking about it
  19. I can't help thinking the thinking twice part has less to do with parts and servicing and more to do with some ignorant hybrid owners making all the other hybrid owners look bad and putting off potential buyers completely.
  20. did I mention population? because any educated person can understand if a market is said to be too small its just the low demand for such cars due to a number of factors. and Mr. Smartass compares Sri Lanka with a bunch of much richer first world countries where these factors are totally different. again what do you know about tax rates? in singapore you pay yearly tax on your car which is in some case more than what the car is worth. but people still buy these cars for their passion for such motors I can't believe we are all arguing with an idiot from Connecticut who drives around in a cheap ass prius (which he got thanks to a battery of government and state money back schemes) for which he's forever grateful for hybrid technology that he can't stop jacking off to it as he finally owns a new car (even though he doesn't know what kinda wheels its got) and now he's on about Sri Lankan upper class's buying habits and economics and so on. honestly i'd rather listen to a blind person explaining colours.
  21. You gotta be the most retarded to person to have an argument with. we started with porsche hybrid drivers being cheapos and now you are talking about sri lankan upper class and their buying habits, a subject you don't know anything about. in fact you look like a soldier who ran out of bullets. throwing stones. twigs, and turds at the enemy. Now listen up sunshine. what do you know about economics? consumer behavior in particular? why is it so hard for your microscopic brain to figure out the reason marques like ferrari lamborghini etc aren't very well established here? cos there's no agent no servicing no spare parts etc. and why not? because sri lanka is a very small market and each company couldn't sell even 2 cars a year. So the markets too small for them to open a dealership and maintain and supply parts. Its just not profitable. Where does that leave our consumer? its a matter of buying these cars and constantly shipping them back and forth for services or just buy a high end offering of a marque thats very well established here like mercedes.
  22. I don't know what's up with these allions. both of the front window winders in mine failed and I'm replacing the 2nd one tomorrow for 12500 recon, which me and the electrician assumed was caused by rain water leaking in or some idiot holding the button for too long. then there's the a/c compressor which coupla people said will need replacing around 35000 kms. So I'm glad mines going to a new home soon
  23. with that registration it'd be a worthy classic. check and see first if spares are easy to come by. Would even work as a daily runner compared to other cars of similar vintage. personally I wouldn't mind putting one of these with cast iron number plates in an office car park among econoboxes
  24. Man! your ignorance never seizes to amaze me. first of all keep in mind that this is sri lanka you are talking about. a land where a 14 year old japanese suv fetches the price of a brand new porsche 911 in the stateside. a place where people drive about in cars that are at least 3 times their yearly income. some of us even live in houses that are cheaper than the cars we own for crying out loud. put a 10 million rupee 4 door saloon on your driveway and you are not impressing anybody. put a 63 million rupee german roadster and you might be getting somewhere. So stfu and go hug a tree cos you don't know sh*t about this subject
  25. at this end of the society people hardly have the common sense to understand these dangers on their own. so it'll take quite a long time and a lot more lives before everyone sits up and take notice of the benefits of good tires and keeping all the passengers buckled up at these speeds.
