Hey luckily you did not release this pic BEFORE the election!

WHATEVER, for once I have to agree with you. JRJ made a few grave cock ups for all the economic benefit he brought. Black July which was extremely traumatic for Tamils - and I had first hand experience when some of our neighbours took refuge in our house in crazy fear. These were guys I used to play cricket with in our lane and their family. About ten of them huddled together in my room. And did not come out for days. Refused food for two days. I could read the fear in their eyes. Most of them went overseas and we lost contact but I'm willing to bet my Alfa that they are guys who now fund the LTTE. Anyway another serious incident which I learned about only recently was the prison massacre. To make a long story short 58 Ltte suspects were arrested in 83 and imprisoned. They went to trial and 28 of them were found innocent and were to be relesed on a specified day. A day or two before the prison authorities arranged for all 58 to be killed by the Sinhalese inmates while the prison guards are said to have watched and laughed at. JRJ was informed and he delayed in taking action and the army came in later only to save 3 of the Tamils. One happens to be Douglas Devananda. JRJ is also the one who encouraged corruption on a large scale by turning a blind eye on his ministers. And thanks to that today we have ace robbers leading the country. IMO not a single leader has had the balls to go against the Sinhala Buddhist priority stand as all they want to do is win votes in the short term. Premadasa spoke a lot about it .......we'll probably never know if he would have done something about it. When CBK brought the equality bill the UNP got together with our ever insecure buddhist monks and burned tyres on the parliment road. It's a sad situ but the majority of are population are mighty dumb and our politicians keep taking them on a ride over and over again.

Oh of course! Agreed.

Oh for sure. Actually I'm not a fan of Astons except for the way they look, but even that's getting a bit over-used IMO. I like the new limited ed one though the One77(?). But they are sleek and stylish compared to the GTR which is tall-looking and boxy, not to mention a mess of unneccessary lines like many Jap cars. Which of course means it will look dated fast. They simply don't understand words like elegance and style which Bond is synonymous with.

I actually like the looks of the STi hatch. It's looks pumped up with the wide wheel arches and mean in black. Anyway I do prefer hatches to sedans when it comes to small cars.

The GTR is just not cool or sleek enough. It looks as if it was styled with an axe and it's quite large isn't it? I don't think they make the same mistakes as they did with the Z3 and some of the American rubbish that appeared occassionally (AMC in Man with the Golden Gun). It's just not Bond. Actually Aston suits him best although in the books it was a pre war Bentley! Maybe in the next movie he'll go back to Japan (like in YOU ONLY Live Twice) and the Yakuza hit squad will come after him in GTRs. But then he's going to use his watch, pen or such gadget given by Q and jam the GTRs electronics and make them handle like soap cubes on a wet floor .

More Pics of the chase and chashes,

Favourite Actor - Timothy Dalton - For me he was the closest to Ian Fleming's character. Favourite Car - Mettalic Rust Lotus Esprit Turbo in For Your Eyes Only with the Skiis on top. I know it did not do much but it's the coolest for me
-
No but he's done an Austin Cambridge and Alfa Sud brilliantly. Still interested? I must warn you that he's not cheap though. Then again cheap things no good.....as you know.

Was to go to Hong Kong next week and was hoping to watch it there. But now it seems my visit will be postponed to December. Hope I won't miss it. Being a big Bond fan who keeps watching the old ones over and over again the suspense is killing me . Btw what's everyone's favourite 3 1) Bond Movies 2) Bond Car Chases? 3) Bond Girls? Mine are, in the order given, 1) For Your Eyes only, The Living Daylights, The World is Not Enough 2) The 2CV vs the Pug 504s in FYEO, The Alfetta GTV6 vs the BM 5ers in Octopussy and Bond on foot chasing the Merc W116 in FYEO. 3) Major Anya Amasova - Babara Bach (my all time fave!) in the Spy who loved me, Elektra King - Sophie Marceu in The World is not enough and ........ Oh tough one......... Lupe Lamora - Talisa Soto in Licence to Kill. Although I seriously would not refuse all the others either

There are a few. A blue 500SL and a Black 450 that comes top of the mind. Oh and there WAS Peter Hill's Silver beauty but that must have gone back when his visa was canned.
-
Ahem. I think it was more Ferrari who could not pull it off. Given how inconsistant the performance of the F2008 has been, Stefano Domenocalli's pit strategy that's as lacklustre as Kimi's conversations, Hungary and the cock up in Singapore......

Well said! As for signing the agreement....who knows they could be very dumb or very smart - the banks might have cut a deal with the big bosses ! -
I guess that school did something really great for you and me . I sincerely hope there are more schools like this in our country!
-
I'm sorry mate but your argument is as water tight as a strainer, considering A) The Asians and the educated voters are indeeed American and B-) The considering that he's won, loads hudreds of thousands of broadmineded whites obviously voted for him!
-
Oh sure he's not from the ghetto. But to most Americans he still 'looks' black and they (most of them) did not let that be an issue! And that's the overriding factor when compared with any other president thus far.
-
Well you should mate. Because there is minimal benefit to the country and maximum benefit to the pockets of 'the' family. (I probably run the risk of being bundled into a white van for this post ) They (micro cars lied to about the actual local content percentage). This quickly became evident when the permits were 'altered'. In fact IMO it is harmful to our economy. Why? Because with minimal local input anyone can buy a Diesel vehicle that consumes subsidized fuel which of course compromises the income of the CPC and so the country loses. Pls mind that the CPC makes losses desptite anything is vbecause it's massively overstaffed, extremely inefficient and run by a team of crooks. What will be beneficial to our country is to have a very condusive environment for foreign investment so that we can have car plants that build and export cars to India. That is the only way to go, earn forex and create thousands of jobs. Our workers' skills are well known, that's why we lead the garment industry in the quality aspect. We could build cars much better that India or China IMHO. Our market is way too small to have any automated plants with robots it just does not make economic sense. The Indian market is massive by constrast and thanks to there recent economic policies the market is one of the fastest growing in the world. Proton would not have got off the ground without an export market. Sorry for going OT so much!

Well a black man whose ancestors came to the US as slaves has become president. He even has Muslim links. That's a great start don't you think? And why do you answer my question with another question? Do we need to follow the US in everything? Why can't we lead the world in being tolerant (which is a great Budhist virtue if I'm not mistaken) towards other communities and less insecure and less narrow minded?

-
Mate. Do you know exactly why the Micro car company is thriving now???? I can't believe that some people are still in the dark about this!!!!!! Do you know the local content percentage that goes into a Ssangyong??? Do you know who the shareholders are??
