  1. Happy Birthday Bro
  2. one day. better not give ID copies to people unless its necessary.
  3. Don't rely too much on 1919 for information. Few months ago, I checked with them about getting a new DL and they sent me on a big and expensive wild goose chase. Some info is outdated and u never know until u go through it. R U sure? I thought they needed the new owner's DL or NIC copy? I distinctly remember when I got a car transferred in May or so, I never needed the earlier owner's ID copy.

    Saturn Cars

AFAIK Saturn was the alternative brand of GM, to compete with brands like Lexus and Acura from Japanese manufacturers. This brand is now laid to rest. The bottom line is, these would be cars for enthusiasts. Spares will be available off e-Bay not local shops. Highly unlikely that anyone in Panchikawatte have heard of Saturn cars... If you are an enthusiast, by all means go for it. But then you wouldn't ask this question from the forum. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturn_S-Series
  6. Hopefully someday, I'll own the oldest car in daily use! On a more realistic note, I've been looking for a while, for a classic car as a semi-daily or weekend runner (translation: to work and back max twice a week, cos I already have my regular rides). I had a Mini in the past as a daily runner but it can't be called a classic. I am hoping for an 'English Number' one Apart from the classic VW Bugs, Morris Minors and Fiat 1100s any other recommendations? Don't care much about the 1100 cos it resembles that horrific Indian car. How would be the reliability factor of a 6V Bug?
  7. I beg to differ on that one. Did you know that the Proton cars imported B/N to Sri Lanka by the agent are the same versions as those exported to Europe, while Malaysia and Singapore gets lower spec cars. For example, Proton Impian is the European version of Proton Waja and the Sri Lankan agent officially imported Impian while Wajas came as recons from Singapore. Currently they import Proton Gen 2 Persona, which is known as Proton Persona in the Malaysian and Singaporean markets. This was the reason why the build quality of B/N imported Protons and recon Protons were different by leagues. Unfortunately, the Singaporean cars that flooded the market, completely ruined Proton's reputation here. One giveaway is the Brand New imported Protons usually have MPH meters and Euro standard safety measures while recons (Malaysia domestic) come with KMPL metres and hardly any safety measures. I don't know if this is the same story with Vivas. If that is the case, then Vivas would be far superior than any Indian car. Perhaps the one with ABS and Airbags could be the European version (just speculating), since those are mandatory for cars exported to Europe. This could justify the rather exorbitant price tag.

    Painting Bumpers

Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a couple of body coloured bumpers? I have seen plenty of peeled off paint on bumpers.
  9. Do you have any idea at all, about what you are talking? The Continental/Australasian versions of Maruti A-Star (badged as Suzuki Alto), comes with the 660 CC Japanese engine with the Japanese gearbox. Assembly is done in India. The South Asian version, which is badged Maruti/Suzuki A-Star comes with the Japanese auto box, coupled with Indian K-Series engine. There is a significant difference. and according to your logic, Toyota Soluna (Manufactured by Toyota Motor Corporation in Thailand) should be as reliable as a Japanese made Corolla ryt?
  10. Are u seriously recommending someone to buy an old Ssangyong jeep? If you don't know what I'm talking about, search for REXTON in the forums.
  11. Most of the car-key batteries can be bought from any good shop that sells watch batteries.
  12. Cruze is the only Made-in-Japan Chevrolet car available in Sri Lanka. Its rebadged Suzuki Swift (jeep model) with most of the components compatible with the Swift. That will answer your question about spares as well. M*g Ci*y never imported Cruze and they don't officially support it (thank heavens for that!). Why am I recommending it? It's inside the OPs budget and it's value for money. I've been owning one for like 5 years and never gave me any serious trouble.
  13. In 1960s European cars, we saw a badge saying AUTOMATIC and in many 1980s Japanese cars we see the AUTOMATIC badge Finally, in 2011, Maruti has decided to build an auto transmission car and now they are also flaunting the AUTOMATIC badge. Expect all kinds of trouble with the Auto transmission coupled with the Maruti K-Series engine as the vehicle ages, cos Auto transmissions are very new to Maruti. If you *must* buy a A-Star, buy the manual transmission.
  14. Your engine is designed for Octane 90, you should pump 90. Pumping 95 won't do any good to your engine but it will not harm your engine either (except create a dent on your wallet). Perhaps your agent told you to pump 95 because of the wide understanding that 95 was not contaminated. Anyways I normally pump from Laugfs Orugodawatte, as I felt their meters were accurate, compared to many other sheds. Quote from Perodua website (http://www.perodua.com.my/news-events/details/94): "All Perodua engines setting allow the use of petrol with RON90 and above." Your car is still under warranty, so you should try to get as much as possible done from the agents themselves. Ask them to clean the injectors, replace air and petrol filter (assuming the filter is a separate unit in the Viva) and do a tune-up.
  15. Since you bought the car brand-new, please read the owner's manual and pump what the manual recommends. Laugfs also sells Ceypetco petrol. They don't perform any miracle with petrol. You also mentioned that the agents cleaned your petrol tank. Did they also clean your injectors? How about the fuel pump/fuel filter et. al.? My suggestion is to get an injector clean up/throttle body clean up done from a place like Asnu Lanka or somewhere.
  16. And what makes u think that the Killer B and Nilantha are waiting for 8+ months since December 2010, to read your precious opinion of cars?
  17. The decision is to privately share the photos, since they contain images of illegal activities and activities of explicit nature consisting of exotic ladies. Please post your Name, E-Mail, NIC number, Phone number, School, Date of Birth, Blood group and the contact details of 3 female friends you got, in order to receive the photos via e-mail.
  18. LMFAO! Imagine dragging with a 141! Would it be a diesel by any chance ?
  19. Does anyone import cars from Singapore any more? One of the reasons why Singapore imported vehicles gained a bad reputation was because they were used as rent-a-cars there and they were run to the ground. Some even came from places like Malaysia and Indonesia.
  20. Theoretically, it is possible to get a slightly lower fuel economy with 95 compared to 90, because 95 has more benzene than 90. However, whether you get such a significant difference remains a question. What's the village idiot doing in this forum? And sir, if I tell u that the HT51S comes with auto-transmission, what would be your kind recommendation about changing gears? Xtrapremium is RON 92 in Sri Lanka and RON 91 in India
  21. New Civics and Citys that come to Sri Lanka (Brand New), are Made in India with Indian build quality. Don't touch them even with a barge pole.
  22. How about a D8 Pug 406? U might get a '95 one for that budget
  23. You can achieve the same by checking your tyre pressure every week for FREE, without causing structural damage to tires, when you go to pump petrol to the car. the key-word here is small. How small? maybe waaaay smaller than what you can save by following good driving habits. Oh god! I didn't know all us air-pumpers are suffering from corroded wheels!!! Ok so isnt this a point in favour of AIR? You can achieve the same by checking your tyre pressure every week for FREE, without causing structural damage to tires, when you go to pump petrol to the car. So what's the point which is seriously in favour of Nitrogen here???
  24. Yep... u finally figured it out.
  25. Stupid Idiot. Scientific American is a renowned magazine. It doesn't mean science is only applicable to America. I don't quote any facts from websites owned by businesses to discuss a point and I definitely don't talk off the top of my head like you do. You are saying yourself that after a few days your tires will end up with Nitrogen even if you pump air. So what are the solutions? 1. Spend 200 rupees to pump Nitrogen, and when you completely deflate tires to do that, risk all kinds of structural damage to the tires, when the whole weight of your vehicle rests on the deformed tires. 2. Check your tire pressure every week or so for free, whenever you go to the shed to pump petrol (which is what I do... from the same shed every week. I have never had the issue of tires losing pressure the way you claim) Which one of the above, is the best solution to the problem of losing air pressure if you pump air??? You idiot, if you are trying to promote your business of selling Nitrogen, you should find a different forum, where people have IQs less than 10.
