  1. Spare parts are easy to find around Colombo. There are some places in panchikawatte who specialize on mazda parts and Mazna motors Aththidiya has stocks available for any body or engine parts. Fuel economy would be 8-9 kmpl for an Automatic within city limits and above 11 away from city. it would do about a 1-2 kmpl more for a manual one. Second hand market is not bad. Would be the same as FB15, 110 etc.
  2. You might be able to fit in the tires in the wheel wells but; as per the Mazda BJ series 2002 user manual; below mentioned tire sizes are the recommended ones.
  3. @kadsa98; That's a nice car bro and true value for money as well. by the way; are you related to the owner of that furniture shop behind the car?
  4. Did some of them stop indicating after the engine was started?
  5. I actually stayed in my friends place at Kandy and went to riverstone from there.
  6. Yep. the roads are good. Went there few months ago during April holidays and my Familia and my friend's 110 pulled up without any issues. There were even WagonR's going up as well. So cant see why a Cefiro with a full load would fail
  7. I have already posted in this site few months back. Have not received any response yet from anyone. Google login option doesn't seem to work in this site either. Therefore, most probably this is also not much active at the moment i guess.
  8. I pretty much like to start it machan. But so far did not find any companion . I don't think any of the carpooling apps are functioning either
  9. Feel sorry about the new fleet of Wagon-R owners. According to the Wagon R owners FB page, a side skirt costs 50,000, front buffer costs 140,000. Side mirrors are stolen whenever the cars are parked.

seems like they are taken for a ride by spare part shop owners

  10. Seems like your gearbox has some malfunction. When did you change the Gear oil last time? How many Km's ago? It's probably a matter of changing your gear oil and cleaning the filter. I faced a similar issue 2 years back and got it sorted from Nilwala Motors and it has been doing OK since then. But in my case the gearbox had to be re-built with new components as some parts were worn out. Please refer the below thread for details
  11. You can also try this sponge called 'easycleaner'. http://www.easycleaner.lk/ It did help me immensely to get rid of some paint over spray on my dashboard and some interior panels. Just need to soak it in water, rinse it and mildly rub the effected area.
  12. So.. in other words; you are recommending to cover up the fault and pass it on to the next owner without doing a proper repair?? what kind of a person are you???
  13. According to your explanation the car seems to be suddenly stalling when you are driving at low speeds isn't it? Is there any hesitation from the engine such as a vibration coming from the engine compartment when this happens? Or else does it suddenly stops without any indication and you would only notice it when you accelerate and the car does not move forward? Engine stalling can occur due to many reasons as the other members have mentioned. Two major reasons applicable to the BJ series based on your explanations would be Issue with CAM position sensor Worn out ignition coil packs Usually above type of issues can be identified by an Engine scan done by a proper scanner. However; what magnifies the issue in your scenario is that it seems that the car has been mishandled by someone before you purchased it. Otherwise who will change the meter panel of a petrol car to a diesel car's meter panel. So; probably your car's electronics including the computer is already messed up and it may not show any error codes during the scanning. Are you comfortable with the competence of the electrician looking after the issue? Have you done any repairs with him before? Coz; its better to take it to someone competent before someone messes it up further.
  14. http://www.dailymirror.lk/article/Vehicles-not-up-to-Euro-four-standard-banned-from-today-152068.html http://www.dailymirror.lk/plus/article/Euro-four-aims-to-check-environment-pollution--151944.html There you go.. News paper articles which describes what has happened. Apparently; they have banned importing vehicles that does not include safety features such as ABS, Air Bags and Three point seat belts as well as vehicles that does not meet the Euro 4 emission standards. Consequently; importing fuel that meets the Euro 4 standard has already started as per the article.. I don't think the Axio hybrid will have any issues with complying with this standard. Wonder what will happen to all the Tuk Tuks and Maruti's in future.
  15. Dehiwela If this incident occurred in Dehiwala area; i think your case will go to Mount Lavinia courts which is known as a less corrupt civil court in Sri Lanka. I got my verdict from the Mount Lavinia courts as well. Since you have video evidence you have a very good chance of winning the case. Therefore keep your spirits high and fight for it. Justice will prevail.
  16. Exactly!! In most cases the victims tend to give up due to the inconveniences and bare the damage themselves which I believe should not happen. You should stand up for justice. Something similar happened to me few months back. It was my mother’s funeral and I was travelling to the cemetery in the funeral procession in my car. Suddenly a Tipper came from behind me cutting the double lines and veered in towards the funeral procession and hit my car from the rightside. The driver fled the scene and the car was damaged with a broken tire. I Ieft the car with some of my friends and attended the funeral and later in the evening made a complaint to the police. Luckily the whole thing was recorded in my DVR and I showed it to the police and they were convinced about the crime committed by the driver. They tracked down the driver with the help of DMT and informed me once they summoned him for inquiries. Police asked us to come to a settlement but the driver was not willing to pay me the due amount for the damage that was caused. He was only willing to pay a very small amount. I challenged him to go to courts and won the case in just one sitting. He had to pay me 50,000 for the damages and I was asked to file a civil case against him to get any remaining amount from his insurance company. My friends, family and even the police asked me to come to a settlement with him but I insisted on going to courts as I wanted to teach him a lesson for the insult he caused to my dear mother. I won because I stood up against them. @jdz10 I wish the justice will prevail in your incident as well. Be strong !!
  17. 1. As per my experience they cannot let him go so easily. Since he has not reported the accident to the police and you are the person who has made the complain; they cannot let him go as according to the traffic law any person who has fled an accident scene without informing it to the police is considered a criminal irrespective of whether he has committed it or not. They have to charge him for that. However; i'm not sure about the legal terms involved with releasing the vehicle. I hope someone who has a legal background will respond to this. 2.Seems like the police is not convinced that the Tuck driver has committed an offense or else they don't want to accept it due to their close connection with the owner or driver. Do you have any video evidence that can prove your statement? Maybe something taken from any near by CCTV camera? You can produce it to the police and convince them.
  18. Since the Tuk driver has left without reporting the accident to the police; this becomes a ‘Hit & Run’ case which is a crime according to the traffic law. Usually when such an incident occurs; the police will visit the place where the accident took place with the complainer and sketch down the incident as per the description of the complainer. They will write down the complaint in the compliant book according to this description and will provide a receipt to the complainer with the details of the complaint. Police will later on; contact the department of motor traffic to get the registration details of the vehicle owner and summon him for questioning. When the owner arrives; police will also contact the complainer as well. Police will give an opportunity to the complainer and the owner to come to a settlement then and there. If the owner accepts his faults and agrees to come to a settlement with the complainer; police will not file a court case and solve the issue then and there. They might file a case against the owner if he has violated any road rules but will not ask the complainer to attend the court case if he is satisfied with the compensation given by the owner. If both parties cannot come to a settlement; then the complainer will have to prove the driver was wrong in courts and get the compensation from either him or from his insurance company. Police will inform the complainer about the date where they will put the case to courts and ask him to appear in courts on the given date with a lawyer and an estimate on the damages that were caused. If you have any evidence such as Video footage of the incident; then you are lucky as you can take some screen captures of the footage and produce it in courts which will give a quick verdict. If the owner is found guilty; usually what happens is the judge will ask the owner to pay part of the damages and ask the complainer to get the remaining amount from his insurer by filing a civil case. As per your scenario; the driver has not appeared in police. So; I believe the owner is liable for the damages that were caused as he has given consent to the driver to drive the vehicle. Either the police should capture the driver or else ask the owner to compensate you. Anyways; the police should take action against the driver as he has fled the scene. One cannot runaway after an accident whether he has committed it or not. Its against the road rules and he has to be penalized. So, as a summery; if the owner is not willing to compensate you; you will have to prove him wrong in courts via a civil case and get the compensation from his insurance company.
  19. I suppose that will depend on the situation and the person. Some might not be able to offer a fixed return time based on the work they are engaged in as in the case of Matroska. I'ts the opposite in my case; i can only tell a fixed time from "Work to home" but not from "Home to work" as often i have to run few errands in the morning before i come for work and i might leave home somewhere between 8-10AM. But my evening schedule might align with someone who comes by bus in the morning but have difficulty in going back home due to lack of buses late in the evening.

  21. Ha haaa.. would dearly love to take a ride in PreseaLovers ride one day ?
  22. Yes it is. There are some complications associated with this as well. It’s easy to share your ride with someone you know well such as an office colleague. But; people tend to be reluctant to share a ride with a complete stranger. However; here in Autolanka most of us are like minded people and we can get an idea about each other easily. Therefore; I think it’s easy for us members to initiate this. Actually; I did carpooling with three of my colleagues sometime back. We lived in the same route and shared our rides. Since two of them resigned from the company and one changed his shift; I’ve been a loner ??
  23. I’ve been alone traveler in my car from home to work and vice versa for some time now. I was just thinking that lone riders like me are just adding another burden to the nationwide crisis of traffic congestion by occupying unutilised road space. I know that many of you are the same. But, we have no other option as the public transportation in this country is hopeless. No one wants to end up in their destination late in sweaty, wrinkled cloths maybe after a fist fight or two with a conductor. So, what can we do to improve the situation? What can we do to reduce the traffic congestion in the roads? How about offering a ride to someone else in need? This idea was pondering in my mind for some time now and I was checking in the web for any carpooling/ride sharing apps but non of them seem to be very active. Therefore; thought about posting it here in Autolanka. So, if anyone of you know of any local websites, communities or Apps involved in Carpooling / ridesharing can you please post the details in this thread? And; if anyone of you are willing to offer a ride or in need of a ride; maybe you can share the details here in this thread with following information. i'm mainly talking about recurring rides rather than one off rides which would be more meaningful. · Start Location · Starting time · Destination · Route · Number of seats available/required · Preferences/comments By doing so; you would lend a helping hand to someone in need, make new friends and maybe you’ll be able to reduce your expenses as well by sharing the costs. I hope we can use this as a platform for this purpose and if this is against the forum rules; please remove this Happy Carpooling everyone
  24. My in-laws use a Daihatsu Hijet buddy as a second vehicle. This is mainly used for transporting stuff between their house and a land they own which is partly rented and partly cultivated. it carries a fairly heavy load between the two sites which are about 30km's apart. The trips are not very frequent though. mainly weekend trips. Even I borrow it whenever the need arises to transport heavy stuff such as Hardware, Cement, Ladders etc. Actually i'm somewhat satisfied with the load it can carry. Haven't driven it on hilly roads with a full load but on flat surfaces; it does fairly OK. It's been in the family for more than 10 years and has done over 150,000 Km's now but we have not come across any engine repairs so far. But, the suspension system is in need of a complete overhaul. Gear box had to be replaced few years back but this was due to unknowingly neglecting a gear oil leak from the oil sump. Apart from that there haven't been any major repairs done. I don't think these little engines can hold up 400K-500K Km's like most jap engines do. But i don't think they will quickly fall apart either like the cheap Chinese ones. All in all; i think they are an option you should seriously consider.
  25. Did you consider the option of using a buddy cargo van/lorry such as Daihatsu Hijet, Suzuki Every etc? They are economical, reliable, simple and relatively newish as well.
