Any Place For Alternator Repairs - Not Pala Please
VVTi replied to MAS's question in Electrical problems
Yeah, that's him... but I remember him to be closer to Kalubowila hospital. Haven't had a reason to use him for a long time till now. There is also another chap I know of in Bangalawa junction, small lane opposite ethe AvanteGarde office. Talker but competent. Seem to have lost his phone number. -
Switch off the engine while you are at it too...

This redefines thel hingannaness. Lol. What a bunch of retarded wankers we have now sharing the roads.

Any Place For Alternator Repairs - Not Pala Please
VVTi replied to MAS's question in Electrical problems
Wow.. That's steep. There is a really good electrician down the road in front of kalubowila hospital. Ask around. -
I pity those who in a few more years' time, end up buying these cars...
-
I love the technology... just hate the God-like status given to a maker of bland mundane cars... Of course one cannot forget the Supra and the LFA and a few other interesting ar they make... I will hold on to the handle... thank you very much.

Some of these cars are beyond salvage. Repairing them would be far more expensive. If you look at it, most of the cars barring the E65 are pre 2000 models, such as the E38s and the W140s, all from CBK times I Suppose. and that RR is a 300- car. SO I am of the opinion that they while being costly to the tax payer may have been far more to repair. When I used to frequent Prestige during my BMW days, used to see most these cars come for massive repairs amounting to 7 figure sums. So I suppose replacing them after their useful life is more economical. I believe that the media is over reacting and sensationalizing too much now. This car park was not a secret to anyone in the neighborhood. Don, seriously, why would you want to drive around in a 5 ton bullet proof 6.0l V12 powered car in Sri Lanka?? LOL
-
God, I hate aXios, 121s, Vios, Toyotas in general and tax threads.
-
The honeymoon of importing copious amounts of cars to Sri Lanka is over boys... import tax on cars will be the least of this governments concerns.

Cost of spares is relative to availability and the personal preferences of the buyer regardless of brand of vehicle IMHO. Meaning does he/she want to use brand new or used parts, how much importance does he/she puts on safe operation of vehicle, maintaining of value, usage patterns, etc etc. Most vehicle owners in LKA prefer the used, recycled parts freely available in places like Delkanda or Panchikawatte for the simple reason they don't want to spend anything more than they really have to.

I wouldn't tag anyone in the many drag pics on FB. This car was there in the Aug drags if I am not mistaken. Along with the Ariel and the SS.

That extinguisher will not help with that level of flames.... might as well spit at it. Not worth the risk.

Request Information On A Good Mechanic/ Workshop And Discussion

I fixed a keyless enter on the Alfa 164 from Ruwan with NO actuators for 5k. With Actuators it might be more. -

Depends... he is competent enough to fix if its not that badly damaged. If not you might have to go for a Chinese actuator system and may have to replace all 4 along with the receiver. If you are going, let me know, I want to replace the faulty CL in the Alfa also... she locks herself up for no reason now. Might get a discount if 2 units are bought at once. -

and also don't think that the Insurance companies are NOT trolling FB groups or AL... to get an idea of what is going on... you might incriminate yourself... A SLIC staffer once jokingly said to me that they and other insurance companies have sleepers in most of the local drags and if anyone is to crash and submit a claim, they know what to do... coz the insurance agreement clearly says no competitive racing...

If the driver was drunk there is a good chance they will reject.

PitStop gets my vote. Buddhika is very competent. He has been looking after the P11, then the Pickup, then the Alfa, and the Subaru for basic stuff like oil changes and break bleeding etc. We recently got them to change the axel boots on all 4 wheels and it was done well and fast. But when the shit really hits the fan, I trust no one but my friend and mechanic in Seeduwa. The cars of mine have has fixed over the last 15 years... 1992 Ford T Bird, Mazda 626, (Both in KSA when he was my neighbour) Mazda 323, Nissan P11, Toyota Platz, Nissan N16, BMW E36, E39, Alfa 164, Alfa 155, The Forester... and the Cedric and he is currently restoring the engines of 2 certain 510s... From AC to electrical to busted engines, to almost all mechanical, he will either accept the job or say no at the onset. He runs on his time, does not suffer fools with dumb questions and if you want plaster jobs, don't bother. He has a smallish operation, with an access pit. Does the work himself only with a garage hand. His name is Himal and the number is 0722864901. References are myself, Komi Siripala and The Don...

Goods in transit still. Even if I pay the government stipulated tax, its still cheaper than buying from the local monkeys. And I'd rather pay the full tax to the government than line the pocket of a dishonest trader who makes 100% markup on CIF, all with a smile and the assurance of undying friendship...

Was looking for KYBs for the Alfa, and though the website for KYB clearly gives full spec and ref numbers of the matching KYB part, TAAS was not carrying it with them and was not keen on getting them down too despite me offering to pay up front. Instead I ordered all 4 shocks, mounts, bearings, bump stops, dust boots and all from Bilstein in Germany for less than 60K... They wanted to throw in a set of Eibach lowering springs for a special price but that was too much of a drop for local driving conditions. (40mm) Sometimes its cheaper to bring them down than waste time and money looking for what you want here. Also the puk part of some of our dealers and experts are not worth the trouble.

Can't wait to hear the rest of that riveting story... take your time.... please...

Looks to me like early symptoms of The Jones's Syndrome.... suddenly the older capable, reliable Vitara is not as good as she used to be compared to the flashy, untested Vezels and XVs...

Somebody ought to take both of them to a corner, arm them both and tell them to go at it. That way, we get rid of 2 useless sacks of meat and saves the tax payers precious court time.
