  1. This is an easy one... winner gets a printable soft copy of the image. http://img67.imageshack.us/img67/6678/dsc01115s.jpg
  2. What is happening? I am Clueless..
  3. A freind has a 207. He has a love/Hate relationship with it. He had a deformed front disc after t he 3rd Free Service, brakes failed within the first year, engine developed a leak, again in the first year, alternator packed up on the 2nd year, and I think since I spoke to him last about 6 months ago, he said the Diff is making a a lot of noise. He bought it BN and I think on the first service itself, he had to replace a drum. He said he will drive it to the ground one day and set it on fire, but it still lugs around a heavy load almost on daily basis and when it works, it works.
  4. We got a 1998 Ford Courier/Explorer. After hunting for Hiluxs and D22s we settled for this becasue it was the best maintained and the best priced in that year/model range. Been using it for 2 months now and so far not a single complaint. Had it serviced yesterday and the sump soaked up 6.5 litres of engine oil! Comfort wise, I would say it is as comfy as the L200. Rear seats are a bit cramped and find myself tangling up on the rear door when trying to get in/out. I checked around the usual haunts for the parts and it seems they are available and not as expensive as one would expect. Its a tad underpowered for a 2.5 NA diesel but then I don't speed in it. The guy I bought it from did entice me to get a 2.5T that he has sourced for it before deciding to sell it. Later perhaps. Bit out of the ordinary, but still gets the job done.

    Conversion To Vvti

Guy, I am in! I wanna see Chooti Putha myself. For all his talk he better be driving a riced up Honda... with at least a VTi badge.
  6. As far as I know that info is not made available to the general public. Cops can call their in-house unit at the RMV to get rego details in case of a hit and run now, but unless a court order is given, the rego details are not given out.
  7. This is actually a simple DIY. WD40, grease and the necessary tools, plus a bottle of extra brake fluid.
  8. Not talking about the discs, I am referring to the cowling behind the discs... it is made of of a thin steel plate. That sometimes bends and touch the disc.
  9. Machang during the replacement process, sometimes the mechanics due to negligence or brute force tend to bend the metal cowling behind the discs. Jack up the car, remove the wheel, and see if it is touching the discs. If it is, just use a flat screw driver and jimmy it out to its original shape.
  10. Now that we are in a thread relating to BMWs and Engines, I heard that if you can put a M50 Intake manifold on to M52B25 head in a 323I you end up with the car belting out more than the 170BHP that the 323I is restricted to. (due to some German Tax law) Is that true? Some say up to 240BHP is possible and with some tweaking up to 300bhp is possible. I have a 323I and comparatively, my Primera P11 is quicker than the BMW despite the former having 20BHP more. (but then Lighter Vs Heavier, Auto Vs Manual) Can it be done? If so, how and and where to source the manifold?
  11. You have a point there mate... People buy what they can and what they want. It's there money and their choice. I personally do not prefer a Maruti, but then I don't like the Vios or the FB15 too...

    Isuzu Double Cab

There will be others. Don't worry. We went looking for Hiluxs and were dissapointed with EACH and EVERY one of them.... Something was always worng with them. IN the end settled for a Ford Courier and cannot be more glad about our decions.

    Isuzu Double Cab

I say go for it! My FIL has one, (KB100) bought brand new in 97 for 900k,from SML and it still runs like new. The IC Turbo is really grunty and as long as its serviced properly, she runs well. It has done close to 250K and still no issues with the engine or suspension, apart from a few standard replacements as it is run in Colombo roads a lot, but still gets run a lot! The trick is to find a well used one. And No, I have never heard of a Chassis snapping in these machines. As far as I know, Isuzu may not build pretty vehicles, but they do build them like tanks! Perhaps the gentleman in question has the misfortune to buy one that was spliced?
  14. Hey Ripper... you caould have asked Nilantha to bring it down with hi '20' e-bay points... he would have kept a margin too...
  15. Take a taxi home.. leave the car at home or at the venue, if you can... always works for me... After being copped after ONE beer and getting my license suspended for 2 months AND a Rs. 15,000 fine, I ensure I do not drink and drive in the night.
  16. Actually the Cami is not that bad. But don't expect much off roading or crazy driving, as Virentsi said, its underpowered. I have driven one many times and I can say that it drives like a typical Toyota car. The Auto is what i drove and when you need to over take you need to floor the pedal, switch the AC off and pray to your own personal Jesus that the bus you are overtaking will slow down a tad. I am serious. Also it has a lot of body roll after 60km/h. DO NOT take high speed turns. The AWD configuration really is harsh on the mileage. My friend got around 8-10 with 8 in the city and 10 outstation. When you load 4-5 people and their luggage, then you are slightly more comfy than a Paan Baagey. Virentsi, if your aunts Rush display shows 12l/100kms, that means she is getting around 8 Kms per litre. Get a Cami, if all all you do is drive your kids to school in it or shopping on the weekend. My personal advise is, thee are better vehicles our there than the Cami. Besides, its a chic vehicle. For the 1.8 million and above you might have to spend on that, you can get a Grand Vitara 300- or G Numbered for that price.
  17. This car was first brought in for the cops. Then UniLever gave them to their brand managers... then the fad picked up. People have now realised that it is not the best Nissan around. In fact, it is plain horrible. Once we went to Bandarawela in it and we had to fill up the tank TWICE!!!!!! I went to Hambanthota and came back in the P11 with 4 adults with 20% of the tank still left.
  18. Its the same Q series engine. 1.5 litre. N16 is not famous for its fuel economy. Sylphy has a 1.8 engine. We had one and I hated every Km I drove in it. I did all I could to fix the guzzling issue, including the sensor replacement. Nothing helped. I was lucky to get 8 in city driving.
  19. What I meant when I said get both things done was the ATF and the Coolant change.... What makes you think I would want anyone to do a manual and a machine change.... A BIG DUH!! for you XxX!
  20. Each to his own machang.... why would I want to contribute to get someone else's coolant changed? I don't want to go through the hassle of wondering what, when, how, what if....... I intend to keep my babies for a while and I am not prepared to be penny wise, pound foolish... For those who don't want to... there is always tap water....
  21. No one I know has done a manual change, though everyone talks of it. A manual change wont get rid of the oil that is still inside the torque converter, (upto a litre) where as the machine will pull it all out and replace. If you live in or around Colombo, why don't you take it to a reputed Service centre and get both things done machang. Saves you this headache of wondering about it. I got my car's coolant flushed at PTStoP for 5000 bucks and no complaints. They do a proper job. Even AtuMiraj does the same kind of work. Take the guessing out of the equation and just do it.
  22. http://www.motortraffic.gov.lk/index.php here machang... read through and see.
  23. True, but then, will the Maka baas, know how to remove a sump of a AT without messing up the gaskets? I know a friend who went against all advice and let a maka baas remove the sump and clean... maka baas tightened one sump bolt a bit too much and broke it.... he saved money alright!! No point in being penny wise but pound foolish.... and for general info... Toyota mechanics in Sri Lanka knows less than a maka baas.... ask Ripper.... he will tell you with a few expletives.
  24. If there is nothing wrong with it, leave it as it is. Even the brand new Corollas that are sold by Toyota has the same stuff. If it ain't broke, don't try fixin'! If there is no leak, if the fluid is not discoloured, if your vehicle is not overheating, why change?
  25. Are you a Sri Lankan? If youa re then you can get it the normal way. If not, you will have to use a International Driving license. Your Dubai license will not be valid in Sri Lanka.
