The "not a reliable car" story is a typical generally held sri lankan myth... The dashboard electronics on some cars were a bit wonky, but they had nothing that would cause you to be stranded by the side of the road or any such nonsense, which again is something the general public is unaware of... much like yourself they "have heard" from somebody that the 406 has problems and avoid it. The true story is that the car is mechanically very solid, and the only things that go wear out are general items like O2 sensors and such, which also wear out on jap cars btw. Like any car, as long as you get hold of one with a reasonable mileage and service history, you'll be fine. As to resale value, the 406's have pretty much dropped as far as they can go IMO... they will probably level out at 1.3-1.6 million, which is bang in the middle of civic territory, and stay there. Of course since we DO live in the land like no other, where a ten year old corolla is worth more than it was when new, one can never be too certain about these things...

Ace, would you mind telling us how much the extinguishers cost, just a ballpark figure?
-
An interesting trend to note here, Much like the general public believes that a toyota corolla is the best buy of em all, there seems to be an overriding impression among people who dont want a corolla and are perhaps mildly interested in cars, that the Honda Civic is the best car to buy.... Now this isnt me "hating on" civics, as i've said before my family has used several over the years and have an ES1 even now, they are generally decent cars.. all im saying is for the kind of money any civic is going for these days, the discerning motorist can find so much more entertainment elsewhere. In this particular price bracket, the Primera P11 is the stand out star. P.S. at the current state of the market, the Peugeot 406 is also now available at Ek3 money... for people who dont mind being a tad brave, that car is in a completely different league to even the Primera!
-
Indeed. This car has been with the current owner for quite some time and as far as i know he always took very good care of it. Will definitely be a good buy for anybody wanting a decent CRX
-
VVTi also has a P11 if im not mistaken... if some body can modify the topic to include the two cars, primera owners will notice it and head over to comment..
-
1.3 million for the car plus 2 lakhs for the mods..... I'd just like to point out at this juncture that you can get a Subaru Legacy RS for considerably less than that..... but hey, to each his own i guess!
-
Primera, Primera and indeed, primera!! its in a completely different league to an EK3 civic, far quicker, much better handling AND more comfortable as well.... CVT box has certain issues if not looked after properly, we have a couple of P11 owners and ex owners on here, they'll update you on the do's and donts of that.

I wouldnt advise KRK quite honestly.... Guy I know put his R33 Skyline there to get a a kit done, and when it came time to fit the modded front bumper, it was found that the front cross member, which also mounted the original bumper, was getting in the way of fitting the new bumper. The idiot at KRK suggested cutting the cross member off! The cars owner is also a bit thick, and he nearly agreed but thankfully called d-z and me to ask for advice and we immediately shouted down that idea....

Err dude.. word of advice, when you join a forum, if you intend to be a long term member, it's always adviseable to keep your head down at first and build up some credibility for yourself before you start airing opinions. And even then, it's NEVER ok to start insulting other members when they ask a perfectly legitimate question, doesnt make you look too good in the eyes of the rest of the members...

I heard this tale sometime ago too... version i heard said that the car was taken abroad, if i remember right the taken abroad story was mentioned in the motor mag ages ago as well.
-
he's based in Australia... so im assuming from somewhere there...

If i remember correctly, there was a maroon colored 4 door in at a place between kohuwala and pepiliyana, on the main road itself... after you pass kohuwala junction, head towards pepiliyana, just before you come to the Mlesna building, it was on the right hand side of the road... Was there recently as well i think... Best of luck with the hunt, let us know how it goes!

Congrats mate!
-
ahem, check thread dates before you reply to them for one thing... and secondly, what are you talking about? where is there a Hyundai Santa Fe?
-
I find myself in rare disagreement with you here mate, Technically at least, none of this lot are top line super cars judging by current standards... most of them fall into the Junior Supercar category (Including the 599, except for its ridiculous price! thats 3 ZR1's!!)... and ive honestly found Motor Trend to be relatively fair in their previous USA vs the world tests, they do tend to call a spade a spade... While i agree there may be some degree of bias, they were judging the best car outta that lot, and even in the dizzy heights of supercar and semi-supercar land, Value for money is a factor. The bare fact is, on a bang for your bucks scale, the ZR-1 smashes the Ferrari into the middle of last week! Sure the 599 might be better than the vette in some respects, but it sure as hell aint 3 times as good! and IMO like most current Ferraris, it aint THAT good looking either, Ferrari can do WAYY better, Check out the Daytona or the 90's 456GT to see what i mean... In conclusion, I think they pretty much got this one right, although i'd have ranked the GT-R over the porsche myself/

It cant be for an Alfa so i'm guessing MR2? well most of the usual blokes ARE kinda ham handed when it comes to weight.... but i've heard decent things about that place in Attidiya, Vonmec i think it's called... Milindu might have a contact as the Red MR2 got some work done there.

Sad news indeed, like most ppl I woke up to see the news on SMS Alerts... Hard to think of another superstar whose work has been appreciated by such a wide variety of people for such a long time, certainly nobody among the current crop of "Musicians" who are all over the charts! In spite of his personal issues, the man was a true genius.... As one news outlet put it.. "His Music will never die" RIP Michael, Hopefully you're in a better place now

You know, unlike cars such as Evo's and Subaru STi's there are quite a number of original starlet GT's running around town (along with the Later model Glanza V's) Those aren't particularly expensive to buy either, so I fail to see why you dont just look into buying one of those... Unless of course you just want the "Challenge" of doing a conversion or something?
-
Many happy returns of the day mate!
-
makes sense, any idea how much?
-
Do you guys think its time to open up a new thread? this IS getting kinda huge...
