  1. In this day and age of electronic odo clocking, where you can get brand new looking interior bits, steering wheels and such pretty easily if you look know what you're doing and also remembering the fact that most new cars are a lot more resistant to showing their age in general than something made a decade or two ago, I find that statement distinctly amusing.
  2. A Legendary name among gearheads everywhere passed on last week. Considering how much of a spectacle the car was in its life, its surprising that it ha been this quiet. RIP: Dodge Viper Via Hooniverse
  3. Mr Wijesinghe Please note that respect is earned, not demanded. You have been on this forum a while and although you do make various suggestions and recommendations most of them are unfortunately of the "Maka Baas" variety (A.k.A Rube Goldberg type, look it up). Even when you make a valid point it is obscured under a layer of guerilla marketing for your business as well as self important nonsense such as; Get it into your thick head Mr Wijesinghe that nobody on this forum gives a damn about your "in born talents" as a "Qualified technologist" or your "asserts for net two generations". If you want to share knowledge then by all means share it, but be warned that if the people on this forum, although a lot younger than your 60 something years, have a wide range of knowledge and experience so get off your high horse and stop assuming that simply because youve spent decades trying out random experiments that you are better than us. If you do manage to learn that lesson (wasn't it you who said that people should never stop learning?), then perhaps you will stop becoming the class clown of this forum. Best regards S_N
  4. Well it certainly sounds like your enjoying yourself experimenting mate.... thats great if i may ask, whats your current consumption figure like? You must have a LOT of patience to be able to experiment and experiment to try and squeeze every single KM/L out of that vehicle. personally id rather have my prostate extracted with a fork than go to all that trouble, but i guess you seem to be enjoying it so more power to you!
  5. Belated b'day wishes GMI, hope you had a super day!
  6. Many happy returns of the day Milindu Hope you have a great one!
  7. Read his post again, he says: He meant the warning lights came on, not that the brake lights were lit.
  8. Neighbour has a Tiida, also bought B'new... He reports it does 9-10 in city (auto) Perhaps Nahoy was talking about the bigger Teana (Aka Cefiro)? otherwise there is def something wrong with his car.
  9. Just FYI to all you guys, having been to a few of the drags myself i gotta say that the majority of the participants are very responsible people and (touchwood) the incidents have been negligible apart from one or two fools who have tried to show off and come unstuck. So tarring all of the SL drag participants with the "Irresponsible" brush is a bit unfair IMO. Its buggers who do things like create FB groups to show off that end up causing all the issues.
  10. I remember MADZ was at work on an update/relaunch when we met him at a motor show last year, but the idea seems to have died a quiet death with his move abroad and such.
  11. It isnt only office parking machan, parking lots at any place where a lot of people go to (supermarkets, shopping centres etc) are getting increasingly packed now and you do sometimes wish that you have a smaller and more nimble vehicle when navigating through those. Why do you think VVti and I said we werent gonna comment?
  12. Ditto that, Twirling an LN106 Hilux around the underground carpark at Crescat especially is my definition of hell! As to the car choices, how about a Carina GT? a manual one will be an interesting drive and there's one on AL right now. The 323 and A33 are both good ideas as well, although maintaining them will be less of a breeze than the AE100 has been obviously. Im not going to comment on the ViRs
  13. Thats because the model in your link is the T2 transporter, which is much less desireable worldwide than the split window T1 version. Also, its been diesel converted.
  14. Why? If you're wondering whether they match your ES, the answer is no. Sometimes people buy cars for reasons OTHER than fuel consumption y'know.
  15. Well then i guess you and I must have very different perceptions of what constitutes "a fair chunk of change". I know a few things about the cost of restoring/rebuilding vehicles myself so not completely clueless about the costs involved. Well well, to each his own as they say...
  16. Well that IS a bit of a conundrum.... Diesels (especially the ones made by toyota that dont have common rail) arent exactly rocket science though, there isnt a hell of a lot of extra expense as long as the basics are done right. So dont give up on the idea entirely. Manual Cefiro is an option i guess, but will need to be hunted down...
  17. Given up on the double cab idea? Saw a 250- LN166 on the site today for 2.8 mill, which i think is pretty good value if its on good shape. Manual cefiros generally come in sporty(ish) "Stouring" trim, with side skirts and spoiler as well as a slightly different grille. Personally speaking if you're going the cefiro route the automatic is the one to get since the USP of the car is its comfy cruising ability! Another Nissan option if you want to be a bit more different would be a Laurel. All the comfort of the cefiro plus rear wheel drive.
  18. Heard from a source that D*mo had brought down 70 of the E200 CGI and since the offer began just under two weeks ago 52 units have been spoken for!
  19. Personally speaking, I think you sorta mess up the whole point of having a classic landy when you go down the Koththu route (just my opinion), The vehicle looks nice enough but I recall you putting up a picture back when you began this thread and it didnt have rear doors at the time.... did you change the body? that would be a real shame because it was a very original vehicle. Youve mentioned a long list of stuff that you did but it strikes me that what you essentially have now is a mixed grill, bits from here there and everywhere. (just IMO). I guess if you just want the land rover look then this is something but from what I've heard owning a land rover really needs to be the whole experience, with the random issues part of the package! Oh well, to each his own. To close out, Im assuming that youve spent a fair old chunk of change on the vehicle plus all the associated bits. For that kinda green you could have had a vehicle that has reliability hardwired in at the factory, excellent parts availability and just as much off road cred as any land rover.... Im talking of course of a Toyota Land Cruiser
  20. I thought you'd given up on guerilla warfare? However, I would like to add that Mr Z is telling the truth here. Said car is definitely capable of reliable daily driver duty, something that Rx-7's (and i do love them) really aren't cut out for.
  21. Long slumber for this thread too... and its my fault this time lol. Here's a contribution. I'll be looking for exact make and model on this one gents, Guess away! Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  22. Pulling this up once again... (Why does that sound familiar? hmm) fairly easy one Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  23. Yeah.... Lots of luck with that.
  24. Well since its been brought up... how about a G2g for 2010? any takers? Should we open a separate thread?
  25. Nonsense, If we could actually FIND american classics that are for sale here im sure there would be super demand. Unfortunately all the cars that do exist (save for one or two wrecks) have already been bought up by the big name collectors... damn shame IMO, since all they do is polish the damn things and keep them on display. This particular car isnt American by the way...
