  1. Good looking truck bro, Only wish mine looked half as good! anyway with regard to the kit, IMO the 107 is a better starting point than a 106 would be because it has a much more sophisticated set up underneath. So the kit will probably make more of a difference. But of course the only way to be sure is to track down an owner who has fitted a kit to a 107 and ask them how it works. Maybe you should send Velocity a PM. He'll be able to point you in the right direction. Anyway keep us posted, this is an interesting thread because im sure a lot of people who own trucks/4x4's are interested in upgrading their suspension (I know I am, but being a 106 my choices are rather limited sadly) Cheers
  2. They are already selling that ridiculous "Nomad" thing aren't they? It probably will be that, and maybe some other cheap chinese monstrosity.... Entirely the wrong way to go about it honestly. Mitsubishi, Toyota, honda hell even BMW and Merc have CKD versions of their models, would be MUCH better to try and do something like that than expose our car buyers to chinese crap that would fold up like a rice paper fan if it crashed into ANYTHING at all!
  3. Well then it can only be a rover... Im guessing a P6 maybe?

Damn.. you guys went? after the thread fell silent I figured that the idea had been put on ice... oh well, them's the breaks. Hope you guys had a blast, maybe next time!
  5. Auto mag wisdom has it that the SMG gearbox is nowhere near as good as the Manual. At the time the E46 was being made BMW had not yet mastered the concept of SMG transmissions and it apparently shows pretty badly with jerky shifts, a crappy auto mode and sometimes gearbox issues. Fixing costs are supposed to be somewhat higher as well if something does go wrong. Also the C55 is a four door so it will add to the practicality aspect since it will be a family car. The bonkers C class is no slower than the BM, is said to be nearly as involving to drive, and can play the refined exec cruiser role rather better when necessary. So overall I'd say pick the C class, mostly because the SMG box is a compromise solution on the BM, and it's NOT a good compromise. Can I just add, You Lucky Bastard!
  6. The WRX's EJ20 IS a highly tuned performance motor, and it IS of japanese origin which means it IS used to 98 Octane fuel. So yeah, I would say its a fairly safe assumption to make that you need to pump 95 octane. In fact most guys on the forum who have Sti's and Wrxs (gunat, gihan, even Sti B4 with his B4) generally add toulene or other octane boosters as well!
  7. IMO unless you're going to do the WRX conversion an old imprezza is a pretty pointless purchase, especially if your trading in a newer family car like the vios. Most of the cars on the road are hacked, they will be more thirsty than the vios, probably less comfortable and definitely less reliable (Age related issues mainly). Also It WILL cost more to fix when things go wrong, and they probably will go wrong more frequently too! Overall you really ought to keep the vios. If you have your heart set on selling it and REALLY want to go subaru, a better option will be to find one of the non turbo Legacy B4s. Much newer, bigger and more comfy, and a reliable car if you can get hold of a good one. Edit: Sub 1.5 mill might be tough finding a B4. You can also consider the previous generation legacy.
  8. Really? then no wonder your fuel figures are so low, I mean come on dude, something as big as a TIPPER TRUCK for cryin out loud!! Must be a special version of the mark 2 The "TRD Tipper Truck Edition"

The Super Beetles (1302, 1302S and 1303, identifiable by a longer front end than the standard beetle) are indeed somewhat more modern cars, but current prices being quoted are kinda ridiculous! Having said that, it is sometimes possible to find a decent car in a sensible price. However, May i suggest the Later (1968 onwards) standard 1300 as a good compromise. They are a lot cheaper than the super beetles and offer 90% of the benefits that they do, as well as being easier to maintain!
  10. Happy birthday peri! have a great one..
  11. I have a feeling thats exactly what he did.... Ace, care to confirm or is it "Top Secret" for now? I only hope you went with a V8 Engine though!!
  12. Go ahead, post again dude
  13. Thats super news machan! Any idea what the costs involved etc will be like? do we have to provide the donor car or do they find it? I remember that the completed car that's pictured is on sale for 3.5 Million bucks.
  14. Damn... If I had a million guesses I probably still wouldnt have guessed a vanguard! You tend to forget that we had quite a few of them around the country since they all seem to have disappeared. Never seen one myself I think. Put up another one dude.
  15. *Bump... also, i have no clue what the pic is... anybody?
  16. Belated birthday wishes dude. Hope you had a great day!
  17. Can't argue with that yup, Market has pretty much flattened out... (for the moment anyway) Actually its pretty practical as a daily driver as long as you dont mind the fuel consumption. Know a few people who use it as such and they love it... The key is getting a good example.
  18. Couldnt agree more. I realize personal tastes differ, but Im puzzled as to Rlan imagines a standard B4 to look like a "Boy Racer" type car..... Especially in silver and as long as some idiot hasnt fitted ridiculous alloys/wings etc, It is a lovely and understated looking car.
  19. Since you asked to be corrected... Performance Subaru B4 > Nissan Primera > ES8 (especially the 2.0L versions) Fuel Economy ES8 = Primera > B4 (1.8L auto compared to civic 1.5 Auto) Resell ES8 > Primera = B4 (B4's are actually slightly more in demand, market is scared of the primera because it isnt a boring box.) Spare parts (ease of getting) ES8 > Primera > B4
  20. You are right of course KLM, on both counts. What I meant to get across was the fact that to me at least, brawn were closest in spirit to the successful british independent teams of yore... Inarguably the sale to mercedes will bring benefits (not least of which will be the return of the "silver arrows" hopefully), Its just that I preferred them as independent entity.
  21. I wouldnt be able to define it if i tried machan, it's an abstract term really. Nearest explanation i can give is that if you look back to motor racing in the 60s and 70s, a lot of the small, independent and successful privateer teams came from the UK (Cooper, rob walker motorsports, lotus, etc etc). They had that whole balls to the wire independent attitude in spades! that has kinda been lacking in F1 as of late, and brawn were refreshing especially because they had it.
  22. Well it wasnt quite Boring in the traditional sense that i was aiming for i guess... I mean, y'knw the whole megacorporation, teutonic efficiency thing. That kinda is the opposite of the scrappy, individualist team that brawn has been.
  23. Oh yeah, forgot about that, we had a TP12 with the 1.8L motor. I stand corrected
  24. The HP12 also is the only 12 series primera that has the Mighty SR20 (in this application its in Variable Valve timed SR20VE form, with 200 odd BHP). This is comparison to the TP12 which generally has the QG series 1.8 Liter motor with around 130-145BHP
  25. Oh damn... that is not really great news IMO.. What i loved about brawn was it'd Independent spirit and thorough "britishness". Now they've been bought by the most damned boringly german car company of them all. Well guess I'll have to find a new team to root for then. R*D B*LL is the most likely candidate.
