Mate my last post was not intended to prove anything. It was meant to be a response for you calling me self righteous, a tag I don't believe I deserved. I don't want to get into a pissing contest although my ego keeps crying out to prove my claim. By your own admission you guys are a close knit group and when Sylvie started this darn thread everyone got on the bandwagon. And thats what I meant as ganging up. The minute DKG stuck his nose in this thread, the wrath of AL turned on him. Applauding each others posts does constitute part of ganging up. Overwhelming an opponent by sheer numbers is ganging up. Don't get me wrong I have nothing for the two of them. Just stated my view which got you started up on my case. Anyways I'd like to stop this now. Hey guys. About the second hand market. Guess the first sort of effect will be the cars at the higher end of the spectrum. For example. two months ago when I was car hunting a 2005 vios was 3.2 at Dhammika motors. Now if the price comes down by even 3-5 lakhs, the second hand value of earlier vios's will be effected right? But I guess it will depend on the elasticity.. Absurd prices on the ads. 4.8 for a 121!! And 2.15 for a 99 ViRS??

Buyers have been waiting for this for sometime now. They will wait for a tangible reduction and then look to buy. With no demand for second hand cars due to this prices have to go down as working capital issues arise for car sales. And they are the backbone of the 2nd hand car mkt. The stagnant buying will also affect the individual sellers. Another argument is: not everyone can afford the price tag of a brand new vehicle so the prices of the 2nd hand cars will maybe drop to a level where there is a reasonable difference between 2nd hand and unregistered vehicles. Assuming the same drop in prices are applicable for the recons. If the 121 mkt crashes well thats great! (joking) cos there's one on the AL ads for 4.8!!! Then again there are people who can actually afford a new car and these guys are gonna take a marginal hit on the current cars in favor of owning a newer car, lower(or nil) maintenance etc. This again will hit the market with a downward pressure Anyways thats my opinion

Actually the 2nd hand market will be effected from tomo. All it takes is for interested buyers to say "market price for this is now lower" after a few of these guys get to sellers who are in dire need to sell, well the word gets around. And WOM spreads faster than wildfire
