Donno how he did it... Captured this while being hauled at Kiribathgoda. How did it get bend like this!!! The strength of the chasis is questionable!!!

Thanks Harshan, one other thing, the vacume required for the brake booster is generated by the vacumme pump built in to the alternator of these models, if the alternator is not driven fine the vacumme generation is poor and warning will appear as a failiure in the alternator current and low vaccume. Better check the drive system of the alternator and the vacume part of it. The alternator can be easily replaced at a cost of about 5000, its better than to repair it.

Yes indeed, Dont start until all the wiring, the sensors, alternator, starter motor and all other motors are cleaned and oil is changed. Delco will hv to be replaced. After a good clean up it will be far better than those cars frequently exposed to sea mist along the coast line.

The alternator has a vacume pump and if the alternator is not performing good ( rotation) charging as well as brakes dont function well. This seems something with the alternator drive system, and not electrical something, check the drive belts.

I checked a place in front of Sujatha vidyalaya, Nugegoda, The complete four doors with power mirros were 32, beige colour.

True, what we are looking at is well above 1M personal property, and if the floods were not saline, I belive a good detailed cleaning after stripping down in to bits and pieces might help. Also there is a good reliable service provided by Kl**n P*rk for rust proofing. Regarding the electronics there are people competent in that as well, since all those gadgets may not need replacements, and even a complete engine SWAP might not cost huge amounts. I would say the car can be back on road, in reliable condition -but after spending one or two hundred thousands. I would say worth it!

Guys, There were lot of tsunami affected cars restored ( but not in the best condition though) I think this car can be put back in operation. Hope that no body tried to start the car yet. A good cleanup will do. Be positive bro!!

Smart cabs are now being registered as DPV in PR, PS series. Has it become compulsory to register in DPV classification? Smart cabs had a distinct price reduction due to these being evaded from tax by classifying them as lorries ( L numbers, lorries are less taxed when importing) If the DPV classification is made there will be a lot of other taxes applicable AFAIK and the price will shoot up????
