Thanks for the eye opener! Did some research, couldn't find any link to carcinogenic effects of camper. In fact most air fresheners and dash board material it self have Benzene compounds. http://voxxi.com/2013/01/health-risks-of-mothballs/ Shared my thoughts because it helped me to keep away the rats from doing expensive damage.
-
Put few camper (Kapuru bola) tied in piece of cloth on the passages between cabin and engine compartments, the smell discourages rats to come in. This helped me. Also please mind that if the sun gets directly on the camper or if engine heat is directly coming to camper it may get vaporized quickly and may damage the plastic vinyl components around it.

"From 2005 to 2009, the second generation Prius had been built by FAW-Toyota in the city of Changchun for the Chinese market" These 2nd gens in local market are coming from Japan, with JAAI certification. I believe what I saw.
-
True, but there are several 2nd gen Prius back again. Manufactured in 2011/12. Came across few in AL http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=110010 (2011 Ex) http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=109827 (2010 europe version) http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=106804 (2011 S) http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=109042 http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=109192

Good for you, you got at leaset one part available. Mine was removed by some other owner of the antenna. What I did was installed a small internal antenna sticking on the windshield to make the radio workable. Easthetics due to missing antenna not solved though.

Toyota is recalling over seven million cars worldwide due to a fire risk caused by the electric windows. What's the Problem? The problem is down to the master window switch on the driver's side which appears to be "notchy or sticky" according to Toyota. The fire risk occurs when any sort of lubricant is applied in an attempt to solve the problem. What cars are affected? It affects most models in the Toyota range including the Yaris, Auris and RAV4, built between 2006 and 2008. Despite earlier reports, Toyota has confirmed to us that the Corolla is not part of the recall. Around 138,000 vehicles are in the UK are involved in the recall. What happens next? All owners who are affected by this recall will be contacted by Toyota directly within the next six weeks and asked to book an appointment to get the fault repaired. If you are particularly concerned then there is a registration look up on the toyota.co.uk website or you can call them on 0800 1388744 to check if your car is affected. Toyota will either replace the faulty switch or lubricate it depending on how bad it is. Repairs will be carried out free of charge. If you have been affected by the recall please let us know how you get on below. And we are also happy to try answer any questions you might have about what is happening with the recall. Check out our full artiocle on Toyota's worldwide recall here: http://www.toyotaown...7-4million-cars

Last friday at about 3.00 A.M. we were stopped by a "gramarakshaka" who had a PC guy behing for overtaking on the pedestrian crossing at Wadduwa. The police guy was furious and asked for the licence, which we didnt give. Instead we asked for the option of paying the fine on the spot. He told us that he will settle on a fine but it was a case to be sent to courts., but based on humantarian issues he would do us a favour by taking the fine. He did not wear the white belt accross his uniform nither he had a traffic bike. I wonder how he issued a charge sheet since I could see his pocket note book only. Any way we did some thing wrong and paid the "fine" but I still belive these two guys were on some petrol duty and making a fortune out of the uniform.

Toyota to recall some hybrids, especially SUVs!!!! http://www.freep.com/article/20110630/BUSINESS01/106300518/Toyota-recall-hybrid-SUVs "The car giant said the recall will involve Highlander and Lexus-brand hybrid SUVs from its 2006 and 2007 lines. The action covers just the vehicles sold in the U.S., with no other models affected" seems like it wont affect the domestic models running in SL, but there will be an impact on the second hand market of hybrids.

When the same car is available in two engine capacities the overall economy in fuel and maintenance is better with the higher engine capacity model. Also most manual gear 1500cc are 5 forward transmission where as 1300cc are 4 fwd. Sprinter and the Corolla are exactly the same but the local market has better demand for the corolla. It does 11km/l on average and nothing bad to say about it for me.
-
Yes, there are 300-, 301- DX, LX (YOM1995-1996 non crystal light) versions in that range. Better to go for a 1500cc, but 1300cc can be easily found. Also if you consider the EE10X wagons, there are "English number" ones available for 1.2M Good luck!!

What about a Corolla/Sprinter 110, probably a 30X- car with basic options can be found in that range.

What Is The Cost For Engine Compression Test
weda replied to Sumiya's question in Mechanical problems
Dear Sumith, If so may I know the make and model and the engine of your vehicle please. -
What Is The Cost For Engine Compression Test
weda replied to Sumiya's question in Mechanical problems
Compression test is to compare the current compression with respect to standard values specified in the workshop manual. If yours is a classic, have you got the standard values of the compression, or a shop manaul of that. This only measures the efficiency of the piston rings and sleeve wear. Other than doing compression testing you may also check the blow by , dip stick and the inlet mainfold area. -
What Is The Cost For Engine Compression Test
weda replied to Sumiya's question in Mechanical problems
Dear Sumiya, I did a compression test for a six cylinder industrial engine from Dim* which was about 25,000 But I believe it is too much. Edirisingh@ or L@l & Nih@l will be able to do the job at a much more reasonable price. -
try http://www.cipis.net/~cipis/auto/Toyota_Co..._E11_manual.pdf A slightly different version of AE110- 1999 model, by Haynes. Thought it might as well be useful.

Thanks Sumith, You are correct, my throttle body has a water line as well (for heating I think) and the thermostat should be replaced. Noted that.
-
Dear Sumith, The fans are still under surveillance, but so far things are OK. Running with out the thermostat wont harm I suppose. Correct me if Im wrong. Thanks
-
Thank you Ripper, and all you guys... took the car to my general mechanic a while ago. The thermostat was removed and it was not functioning!!! The water in the engine block was prevented entering the radiator by the thermostat!!! With out the thermostat heat is just fine.. Thank you guys... I was confused over the heat appearing just after the service, dont know how the thermostat jamming and the servicing got related.
-
Yes after allowing the steam to go, the radiator cap was crefully removed, water poured in and the engine was run for several minutes with out the cap. ( also checked for gasket leaks) No other thing done to especially bleed the lines.
-
The temp probe was checked and the current draw was also OK. Test lamps and mulitimeters both indicated good current flow. Since this happened just after the service I fear something bad has happend to the relays making it fucntion time to time. Dont know whether adding water to the radiator also made things go wrong. Or else the fan efficiency might have weakend by water going in the motor.
