  1. The touareg R50 which was the most powerful one is with a V10 diesel engine with in 345 bhp with 850 NM of torque, and getting the car from 0-100 km/h in 6.7 sec. it towed a jumbo jet. yes this was in Abu Dhabi
  2. Hi guys was fortunate enough to drive the worlds fastest diesel suv / most powerful diesel engine 6 litre v 12 twin turbo audi Q7. 500 hp , 1000 NM of torque , and 0-100 km/h in 5.5 secs hit 270 km/h today. was a mind blowing experience. feels like a train hits you when the torque comes in! have attached some pics of the car. http://img9.imageshack.us/i/15052010757.jpg/ http://img299.imageshack.us/i/15052010756.jpg/ http://img266.imageshack.us/i/15052010755.jpg/ http://img694.imageshack.us/i/15052010754.jpg/
  3. there were quite a few MTM tuned Audis in SL, including many B5 TDI's; petrol 1.8T's and many B6 1.8T's with around 230 HP. there were also some A6 C5's with upgrades, (1.8T) including some diesels. some of the A4 cabrios were also chipped. Senok got the mods done through the factory from MTM. very few cars were done afterwards. there were 3 A6 V6's on the road, one was a 2.4 while the other 2 were 2.8. two cars were manual. really smooth engine, awesome for the long drives.
  4. hi bro I used a fortuner in dubai was a 2007 model bought it new in July 2007 and used it for an year,it was a 2,7 VVTI with 158HP. +241 NM of torque. was pretty decent. main complaints were slightly weak brakes for the weight and a choppy ride between 120-160 km/h. and the dual A/C vents were in an awkward position on the rear side panel, hence whoever sat on the 3rd row on the right side would freeze with it. was pretty comfortable,I guess the ride stiff was because it was riding on the Hilux chassis. bloody strong though,;a woman in a mazda 6 rear ended me and her car was written off. damage extended upto the engine block and dashboard. i only had to replace the rear muffler and bumper. maintanence wise was ok, ran it for 45,000 km and didnt have any repairs, not even brake pads. the gearbox could be better though on the auto, a bit sluggish on the 1st. plugs should be changed every 20,000 km. average fuel consumption was between 7-8 km/l; but road conditions in sri lanka are very different...
  5. machan why dont you try using the parcel post service from the post offices? it is quite reasonable & convenient to send small items. i used to use it earlier. only thing is you have to mark it as a gift and send it to a recepient. and should reach in approx 2 weeks. however, I dont know how the service operates now, this was a few years ago.. just check with your local post office. anyway, someone will have to collect it from the airmail office in mccallum road in fort. cheers.
  6. oh, okay..then I guess the 5.1 final drive is still in the gearbox..
  7. yes, bro. it was on the panchkawatte road, same side as the tower hall, but further up.lost conatct with the guy(don) some years ago. he had parts for the SA310 was one of his high demand models.he used to be ex-browns staff. the baleno, i raced in SL 2001, 2002. car was 301-6011 green color. after that, was ruined...
  8. Hi bro The Baleno was quite a good car; the intial version had some hiccups which were sorted out with the facelifted model. some of the problems it had was with the A/C compressor and suspension. the shocks had problems and were modified. the facelifted ones, of the last generation were quite good. common problems on the later ones were with the dual igntion coils and cam sensors. there were 2 models, the cultus crescent was JDM with a 1.5 G15B and 1.3 engine and the export versions were GL (1.3) and GLX(1.6) with 85 and 97 BHP respectively. it was quite a quick car for what it was, a 4 door sedan, (the 1.6 version UK spec facelifted) with a standard 0-62 time of 9.7 secs. the 1.6 came with 14" TSW alloys. i have raced one as well. parts were a bit difficult, but the engine was the same as the cultus / swift / Jimny( G series) and most items were obtainable. you can contact general automotives ( on 2332787) dont know if he is still around though. the 1.6 especially is a tidy handler and extremely smooth car to drive. fuel consumption was around 8 km / litre on average in the city. good luck!
  9. hi bro the D8 had a persistent problem with the ECU; I am referring to the 1.8 L6A engine which is an 8-valve unit with 97 HP. It has a magnetti marelli control unit and many in sri lanka with this engine were replaced during the warranty period. pls check the history with agents. the cooling fans on the earlier versions also had issues and were modified later. the evaporator coils also have an average life of 2-3 years approx. clutches are also generally hard due to the design of mechanism. steering stifness is normal. the idle air control unit tends to get clogged up frequently and needs servicing regularly, to eliminate rough idling and slight black smoke. fuel pumps also have a tendency to give up after some time, but not on all cars. the fuel gauges on the cluster do sometimes play up as well. headlights also need cleaning after a couple of years; the D9 had problems with fungus in them, even on new cars. otherwise, suspension is bulletproof, with the ocassional link failure. the L6A D8 also came with a heavy duty suspension made for the kenyan market and a factory fitted metal sump guard. whatever you do, keep away from the AL4 automatics; they have issues. to sum up: a nice car which suits our roads, as long as it is not a UK import which had the softer suspension and general issues due to the hot climate. good luck!
  10. Engine stalls occassionally, (couldnt figure out as to why ), sometimes when a/c is switched on and starts when cold (Can this be due to a sensor fault) Hi bro this could be due to the engine speed sensors or sometimes due to air mass meter.(what make /model of mini van?) plugs getting black - probably overfuelling, also need to check the coolant temp sensor first, pls check whether the sensor connections have corrosion and bad contact. probably has oxidation from long storage. hope this helps cheers
  11. Hi Bro my advice- better stay away from those cars which came initially with the AL4 tiptronic box. very bad throttle response, had issues with the throttle body as well. and problems with the gearbox. the early cars had many failures. fuel consumption is also atrocious. there was no proper solution even with software updates. good luck!
  12. Hi Viren factory spec is what comes on the performance version; i believe there was a turbo version in the thai market. sorry am unable to get a picture of the relevant item, but the factory item is almost flush with the bootlid. putting on an incorrect spoiler will not give any benefit other than looks. cheers
  13. well, spoilers have different configurations and applications, but as a ballpark, most factory items make a difference above 140 km/h. this can be especially felt on light hot hatches and smaller cars with high outputs.
  14. Hi bro would appreciate if you could send me the one for Suzuki Swift SF 413 GTi (1992) my email is [email protected] thanks a lot
  15. Hi bro would appreciate if you could send me the one for Suzuki Swift SF 413 GTi (1992) my email is [email protected] thanks a lot
  16. how is your clutch release bearing?
  17. Hi Bro if you have checked all the things mentioned, including diff/ gearbox oil, pls check ancillaries in engine ( compressor, idlers, water pump etc) otherwise, it could be your big end bearings or something else on the engine ( hope not) have you changed the engine oil on time
  18. Hi Bro your problem seems to be that when the previous owner removed the cat and isntalled the straight pipe, he did not have anywhere to fit the sensor and disconnected it. (lambda) cos the original cat has a slot for this. thereafter, he would have removed the bulb cos it was continuosly lighting up. jack up the car and see whether the connector or wiring for the sensor close to the cat is still visible.if so, that is the problem.
  19. thanks, helrazor. and sorry for going out of topic..
  20. Thank you. By the way, apologise for asking... who is this?
  21. Yes, I did bro. Stopped racing after the accident at pannala, in 2003, lost my brother and 4 friends. Still have my car, though, the Suzuki cultus. I want to get back into racing, really miss it..
  22. can you give me your email ID? cos honestly, I need to give you more info before you see it. I have no problem though, but I myself haven't seen the car for over 2 years as am overseas at present. I can mail you the details. mine is [email protected]. dont want to violate any rules on this site. thanks. I would love to give it to an enthusiast, is the answer to your question.
  23. yes, still have the car, although in a bad state.... the S2 was advertised, you are right. no idea on its present whereabouts though. was an awesome handler. the biggest differences between series 1 and 2 were the final drive, LSD and ABS. the series 1 was a quicker car in standard form, and had better gear ratios.
  24. the Audi was in abu dhabi, on one of the truck roads. in sri lanka, this was at the Katukurunda track, after running one of the races, somewhere in 1997. the car is still around, but sadly, in bad shape.
