  1. Model: Toyota Hilux D4D Manufactured year: 2007 Engine Capacity : 2.5l Fuel type : Diesel Transmission Type : Manual Economy : 13 (kmpl) city limits 15 (kmpl) Out stations
  2. lI remember seeing a few vehicles having the 3L engine (ofcourse they were 2.8l in capacity) and some with the 2L-T engine.. Actually I've not gone through the whole engine spec.. just wanted to give an example.. Anyways I'd still prefer the Defender.. I admit; way harder to maintain and not as reliable but still puts a smile on my face everyday..
  3. Attention to detail!
  4. I'm no expert or mechanic, but since its got a 2C sounds like the fuel pump... But since you say you "replaced the pump" only thing thats left in that array are the fuel lines and the injector nozzles, better check that too.. Also since its a while just check for the compression of the engine as well; however the above symptoms are not common with compression issues though.. guess someone with more knowledge will sort you out..
  5. I doubt if any Noahs were made in 5 door.. even if they did there is less chance of one being torn apart and you finding them in spares.. the only difference in the noah door would be interior door card and the outside glass.. If you can give a available door trim to a fiber joint here, they might be able to make a rubber mould and flip it to make the opposite door trim.. Remember this is just an idea and a normal fibre joint may not be able to handle it but they maybe able to fabricate their own door trim for you.. As for the glass you can mount the Noah glass panel to the door as I think its of the same size.. or else the only way is to paint that portion black to match the glass. Also in a Noah the dual a/c, sunroof controls and other bits are located in the place where your door is going to be.. If you are planning to buy the whole interior trim and roof lining you'll have to cut that part out where the door is and try relocating the switches.. In all its a bit of a job but worth trying if you really need it.. Besides you might eventually end up owning the only 5 door Noah!
  6. @Don; Thanks for the reply Don... Guess I'll keep pressure washing to like once or twice a year @VVTi; Yea this hasn't been anywhere near the sea at all! @terrabytetango; Never thought of it that way.. the economical point; but however the cars with the fancy electronics always seem expensive.. example when the 70 series Land Cruisers came the 3L models were cheaper than the 1KZ EFI models
  7. I thought Geminis were extinct in Lanka as they've become donor reg books for old troopers..
  8. Hi there, As the topic says there's a whole array of vehicles flooding into the country with high end electronics which need special attention and care. My point here is to atleast make everyone aware of how to take care of the electronic bits during a normal service/ maintenance procedure. As some of us are stationed away from the capital, agents are a bit too hard to reach.. Actually I myself need help because my Hilux is in for a service after 3000km, even though it is relatively less stuck-up with high end electronics it still runs a 2KD with EFI etc.. and I dunno if its fine to take it to a normal service station for the job. So please experts; what should we take care in a normal routine service? underbody wash etc.. details on other vehicles would also be appreciated..
  9. Looks hideous..
  10. http://www.dealextreme.com/p/full-range-0-7-lcd-fm-transmitter-with-car-charger-for-ipod-iphone-4-dc-12-24v-48472 Got this bit off deal extreme.. Works like a charm on any FM stereo.. Good quality too
  11. This does not happen in the CR41 or KR41s, I have one for the last 10years and now with 300,000+ on the clock.. it had 60,000 when i bought it
  12. Doesn't seem like much to me.. Looks easy to make..
  13. The price itself is a giveaway...
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1zIGPyJunI&feature=related how about this, consider it an investment..
  15. I have seen this rust issue in certain vehicles that were imported at a dealers workshop, they were HILUX HL2's taken off a british motorway project, the rust seen in these vehicles are just barely surface issues, no proper corrosion or holes, however the dealer does the restoration properly with undercoats, and rust proof sealers. AFAIK it depends on the vehicles original owner and use.. Because even if salt was sprayed on the roads a careful owner would care to have it washed and oiled periodically..
  16. true, thanks mate
  17. the pics seem pretty convincing mate.. btw how long does it take to arrive?
  18. Guys just saw something off 'dealextreme' which schiffer originally posted; http://www.dealextreme.com/p/1-7-lcd-type-0-turbo-timer-set-42505 just wanted to know if this is a real HKS unit or a duplicate.. Was planning on getting it down..
  19. Speaking of oils; any idea about the best oil for a Hilux? D4D(2KD), oil change almost there.. Thinking about either Toyota motor oil or Mobil MX... Experts?
  20. What kind of vehicle is this? what is mentioned below may not apply to some vehicles, I think this would be a simple diy project, Take all the bits off Simply sand off the existing fake wood layer or atleast the lamina over it, Use a Spray paint can to recolour it to your choice or whatever the oem colour is, If you want to do things better apply plastic polymer or a primer prior to recoloring it, But I think simply painting would hold, depends on the vehicle and bits involved...
  21. Contact the supplier and try to source a replacement remote, Locate the main unit of the security system (usually under dashboard or steering wheel stalk) It would have a switch or a jumper to help it learn newer remotes, all you need to do is program to the new remote. Was there any documentation regarding the car alarm attached to the car when you purchased it? It would have instructions to install a new remote, ie what buttons to press etc. Incase you can't find only remotes for sale, try to source a new security system of the same make/model you have. Then its just a straight forward swap of the control box and you can use the new remotes or program the existing box to the new remotes, you'll have spare bits as well for future use.. If nothing works simply buy a new security system; ie. control box, 2 new remotes, harness, switches, siren etc, once again locate the control box, remove it, cut away the old harness, rewire it to the new harness accordingly(documentation/wiring diagram always enclosed), all the required connections will be there at the old harness, you'll just need to rewire it up, basically they all are the same except the harness plug may differ in shape/size, You'll have a set of new remotes in the end, working system, bunch of spare switches.sirens etc
  22. Another question on keys; Will it be possible to sort out an insurance claim for a lost/misplaced key (intelligent key with all the geekware) to atleast compensate for the costs involved in replacing it? Anyone had experience on this?
  23. It was near the hospital, near a funeral parlour parked onto your left if you are heading towards colombo, First I thought it was a hearse, later on I slowed down to take a look at it; couldn't make out what it exactly was as I mentioned before. I have also seen it in the town once strolling around near the clock tower. Its quite a big rig, he had issues going around the clock tower..
  24. Would be an interesting project, a good muscle car platform, endless possibilities!
  25. Yea either you need to do a bit of work on the bumper or replace the bumper, still worth the job as it looks OEM
