NO few clearly said that the car does not have a "problematic CVT gearbox" while it has "S" mode. Perhaps market perception is that CVT gearboxes give you trouble and hence less value or room for bargaining.

What are the specific features or symptoms that I should look for when inspecting a CVT ES8 to detect issues. To the information I have learnt so far CVT problems are irreparable and need a replacement of the gearbox when it occurs. Perhaps experts here would help the newbies like us to prepare a checklist on problem detection. Thank you

Gentlemen! Please help me to identify CVT multimatic culprit in Honda ES8 externally! Almost all cars I have seen, the owners quote that they are not CVT! Some say ES8 brought to Sri Lanka never had multimatic gearboxes. But most of other civic forums say that ES8 had a reputation of CVT Multimatic gearbox issues. And what are the issues?

Well! It is very likely that the government is going to reduce the taxes below 1600cc. Even people working at major car import establishments say that. But car market is on the rise still. Difficult to understand! Below 3 mil cars has gone up by good 2 or 3 lakhs. If taxes go down people who buy these days bound to loose some money?

I have purchased many items from ebay but never motor parts. Many very expensive items too. If you ask the seller to mark it as a gift, sample or used item it is very likely item would sneak through customs. And ask the dealer to under-value it to something like 20 US$. I had few friends at the EMS center who helped me as well. After my return back I found many of them are not there now. But when you go regularly they help you. I had a nasty experience with DHL once. They wanted to charge me some value which exceeds the value of the item as warehouse charges. They delay was their mistake. But I argued and got it corrected. But never get things down without EMS thorugh post. It is bound to get lost in the post-office.

May be there is a point in this. But I do not see a reason for car market to suddenly shoot up within 2 months unless there is some other reason behind it!

Thank you. I was under the impression that face-lift ES8 goes above 2.5 mil and the earleir version goes for max 2.4-2.5 mil. But suddenly within week or two they quote 2.6-2.7 for 2002 ES8. This is for K series. I do not mind paying 2 or 3 lks for a good condition ES8. But I do not like to pay this additional amount if it is created by car sale owners artificially.

Is there a need of a budget for this? Inside sources (Treasury) indicate they have already taken a decision to reduce the tax. And will do it soon it seems!

Well! If that is the case, second-hand car market will crumble when Government reduce the taxes for below 1600CC. And further there is a possibility of them reopening tax-free imports for doctors and professionals again!

We all have seen recent up going trend in second-hand car market! There is a big scarcity of vehicles in the market. Everyone wants to sell their cars for absurd prices. Whats is the reason behind it? Sale owners say people do not want to sell unregistered vehicles as the import tax is too much. Some even say, the tax is going to be raised contrary to popular belief that it would be brought down by the government. If the tax is going to come down prices should drop down. But we see a paradox. Again it does not follow any logic as it is the case for Sri Lankan car market. Is this trend due to a myth created by car sale owners???? Lets discuss it here!

RS8 2002 recon RS with VTEC goes around for 2.6 mill +++ now? Please help! Suddenly all second hand cars seems to be selling for higher prices! Why? Should I wait fot another few months till budget comes out?

After having searched in the market for two weeks I quite agree ion this. It is very hard to find a Vi or VIRS with English numbers. Many of them are over-valued as well. Perhaps best to go for a ES08 2000-2003. Or perhaps 2000 EK3 Manual with VTEC. I have seen ES8 RS versions too. What are the special features?

Well it seems quite difficult to find a good VI RS 2000 with manual gears. Hope someone here can help me. What are the things should I specifically look for to see it is a well maintained trouble free car, if I find either manual or auto VIRS?

ES1 2000 Manual mileage 110000 KM for 2.2 too much? And what should I specifically look for EK3 VIRS Manual if I get hold of one? I am almost determined to find one. Later I may go for a brand new CIVIC but I heard there are problems with fuel consumption in the newest model and it is Thai made!!!! ?????!

What is the difference between common VTEC EK3 and EK3 ViRS?

I am very fond of manual ones as it gives me more control over the drive. But unfortunately there is no second-hand market for Auto vehicles now? I do not mind either!

Yes Sri Lanka is a country where the vehicle prices are unbelievably high compared to per capita income!!!!! And it makes me wonder what am I doing here??? If I rephrase my question, what the best civic I could buy for 2.4 mil(version wise)?
