WELL Perhaps it is absurd to go for a second-hand vehicle now. Only issues is that people who want sub 2.5 mil sedan faces a big issue. Tax reduction has not done anything to that market segment as there are no substitutes in the recon market. I don't see many people who use sub 2.5 mil sedan moving into 4 mil recon vehicle segment. What I learn from the sources that anyway government would gradually do away with this tax system and perhaps in years to come they will introduce a tax system which will not burden end-user anymore. Probably they want more brand-new vehicles to come here than recon crap. Whether it would happen or not is a matter of time. Anyway there probably would be subtle changes in this tax system and VAT % in the forthcoming budget. Still it would not make an effect in the market if the end result is insignificant. There is always a significant market effect by sale guys. It will take long Time to settle market values unless people start importing themselves and unless we move to other countries like Dubai or Singapore.

You cannot install it to a cable driven throttle system. It is compatible with models with e-throttle and ECUs. There are several cheap versions with more functionality. Like NTD and Shadow. I think the ECO mode really helps to bring down the FC in heavy traffic if you have a heavy foot. And SP modes can be helping too when one wants to overtake at the expense of FC.

There are so many versions expensive and cheap. Some gives issues with car alarm systems it seems. May I know the model?

Yes that had been my experience as well. The FOB value invariably exceeds the agent estimate. So one has to declare the maximum agent value in L/C. Then send rest of the money to dealer in another "route". Many car dealers do the same. Only issue is the sending the balance to the dealer unless you know him or have a contact in Japan, who does it for you. Secondly when you buy a car from Japan, using on line auctions, one has to get it checked by JAPAN AUTO APPRAISAL INSTITUTE or other independent agency. Before you pay the dealer at the port of export you have to compare the details with the certificate. This is too an issue, if you don't have anyone there. But there may be ways of doing this. Hope it helps!

Anyone has installed an electronic throttle controller? Below is the link for more expensive model. But there are less expensive versions as well. http://www.blitz.co.jp/products/electonic/throcon_pro/throttle_controller_pro.htm And any experiance with HID conversion units in eBay?

+1 That is what I have learnt after some search. It is probably cheaper to bring cars from Singapore.

Thanks for the advice peri! I almost bought it for 2.9mil as I wanted to do it quickly. I seller in fact keeping the car still, when my driver went there yesterday. He has all the patience, till the next impatient dude comes. LOL Perhaps other buyers are not as hasty as myself. I don't want to rush as I am going to buy this as a back up car. Any suggestions for 2.5 - 2.7 sedan with the same looks, space, economy, performance and comfort?

Very correct! I got that feeling. He was holding on to other buyers when I examined the vehicle. This is a sale owner in famous "Hetti Veediya" for cars. He probably sold it for lesser amount and telling I sold it for 2.9 I have seen that trick before. Problem with Civics are they are so common only in Colombo. The sale owners seems to get the hands on before we go to the buyers. Just before tax reduction these Hetti Veediya fellows quoted 3 mil for 2002 ES8 cars.

I AM GOING TO PAY a clever sale owner to sell my rusty KE72 for 3 mil. I am sure he is very clever and do it. All people who has KE72 wrecks can worship me and my sale owner for setting the market price.

Yeah, When the price keeping authorities are so well organized! It is better than a paddy field! Did I use the correct word?

Current market value of ES01/ES08/ES05 Face lift is 2.8 to 3.2? This is for K plate? (3.2) I found a J number, manual, brand new 2004 (Exi) 94000 KM, one over the week end. Seller was quoiting 2.9 mil. I was told by Stafford it is way too high. But within minutes someone had bought it. You just can not find good 2004/2005 FL Civics around. All are overpriced. There is one now here. more than range quoted for this model. http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=36476 Is this the current market value? Good civics are hard to find? I need a one for my second car.

Risks Of Buying An Open Paper Car. What To Do

So if I can check the car in RMV, buying this would be safe? -
Risks Of Buying An Open Paper Car. What To Do
kaushama replied to kaushama's topic in General Automotive
This is probably the case here. The seller says the car is his father in law's. However, I said I want to meet and get the signature, he is all reluctant. So it is sure that he is lying and selling an open paper vehicle. What I was skeptical about is that he is telling a lie here. Is there a way that one could do a check on vehicle in RMV officially? -
Risks Of Buying An Open Paper Car. What To Do
kaushama replied to kaushama's topic in General Automotive
The guy is prepared to transfer the car on his name and sell. How about that? The order of ownership changes. Now it is on F/O's name. I don't care about the order of the ownership though. Any risk? -
Risks Of Buying An Open Paper Car. What To Do
kaushama replied to kaushama's topic in General Automotive
Yeah that was a nasty one. I wouldn't have even thought about this if I didn't have that experience. But this car is really nice. Most of the cars I saw recently for the second car have been open paper ones. Ohhhhh This sucks! -
I am going to buy a nice car as the second car. Only problem is the guy is probably selling it on open papers. I had a nasty experience before as well and just escaped. I have never done it before too. What should I do? Any precautions?
-
Oh I am not laughing at that person or his car. But I think that shows the market perception about cars here. He may well sell it. All these things are just subjective perceptions. Now Toyota 121 has the fortune of benefiting from such perception. When 2007 Axios are around for 4.4 mil still one may buy 2004 121 for that price. That is how our market behave. I don't think we should try to apply simplified equations when it comes to market values here. So many extraterrestrial factors involved.
-
No one recently done this?

Advantages would be more cars to choose form, Availability of 1.6L hence less taxes and less market competition.
