  1. Measured from Full tank to Full tank from same petrol shed, here is the result with parameters. 1,2 l Turbo 2017 version, No bodykits 11.1 km/l 95 Octane "Normal" Driving Mode Average Load. 120 route Horana-Colombo, with moderate traffic. * The average fuel consumption indicator on the dash is extremely accurate also. * Use of cruise control on the highway seems to increases fuel-consumption. (just change lanes and let it accelerate)
  2. Is it confirmed that LCs opened on 1st August is taxed under the previous scheme? The original letter did mention like that where the date was manually written, but then I saw most media reporting that the date should be before 1st August.
  3. Depends on the auction house and type of accident damage. e.g. If the auction house is TAA (Toyota) and damage is at rear end (for a fwd car) it might be ok. But the same car can get a 3.5 or even a 4 in USS. Check the prices of R grades in TAA and 3.5 on USS.
  4. From Colombo to Anuradhapura (via Narammala) If you are travelling early morning this is an excellent stop for breakfast on the way to Anuradhapura. https://goo.gl/maps/H3TAkw4AByN2 They open around 6.30am and has a surprisingly large buffet for a small restaurant. Great service and value for money and doesn't use MSG.
  5. secondhand market is a mess these days. 1. The prices have gone up (should settle down soon IMHO) 2. There are so many car brokers out there than ever before. #2 was the biggest problem I faced when I was trying to buy a car last week. It was very difficult to find a genuine seller, with a well looked after car. In my hunt I did not find a single person who has kept service records. Good luck!
  6. Thanks guys, then it could be probably something specific to the shed I pumped from. Hard to imagine an issue with the car because the smoothness and efficiency returned when I pumped 95, but yes it could be other reasons also.
  7. Found out that when using 92 Octane petrol the fuel efficiency has dropped and car isn't running as smooth as before. I was using 90 Octane previously and problems started immediately after the switch. Has anyone else in this forum experienced a similar issue?
  8. I usually clean this filter myself. It is easy to do, if it is easily accessible (mine is just behind the glove box). If you can afford the cost (usually around Rs2500) I recommend replacing it earlier than 10,000km since we have so much dust on our roads. Tip: When cleaning this filter bear in mind that there is a direction marked in the air filter (marked as "Up" usually on one side). You should clean it by blowing air from the upside (dust is there only on the bottom side). And remember to fit on the same side as it was.
  9. A very simple petrol quality check... Get a white filter paper Drop two to three drops of petrol on the filter paper Allow two minutes for the petrol to evaporate If the petrol evaporates without leaving any stain on the white filter paper, the petrol can be considered to be good. (Haven't yet tried this, just found it by googling) Source: http://www.hindu.com/2005/03/19/stories/2005031915070300.htm http://in.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091111085851AAu8XCh
  10. If not compensation the authorities should at least disclose the nature of the problem and possible remedies. Guys any idea whether a fuel additive (e.g. SoltXXn) could improve the fuel (just a wild guess)? (P.S. I did a full tank and have abt 55 ltr now in tank which is bit near to the cost of the pump, so I need to think of the dumping cost also).
  11. I have pumped fuel on last Friday from a CEXXTCO station in Horana and the man pumping said "me petrol maara gandai sir", when I asked whether it is common he said no and it was only with the new stock which came from Kolonnawa. I'm now suspecting whether I had this bad stock. Unfortunately I pumped a full tank and dunno what to do now

    Sports Alloys

a price list... 13" - 15,000 14" - 27,000 15" - 36,000 16" - 41,000 17" - 65,000 18" - 140,000 They said pattern doesn't matter. All these are for brand new alloys. Almost everywhere you find only Chinese ones. Does anybody know a place to get Japanese ones? I've heard that the build quality is far superior in the Jap ones.
  13. Some car audio shops in Colombo have this map dvd. I have unlocked one from P****lanka at Bamba.
  14. I'm sure most of you guys have seen this already... But some of you might not, so I will share this anyway...
  15. +1 It's always the lives... (after all they were trying to have some fun, true that it was in a stupid way, but not a crime right?) P.S. Sad that we don't see any tv commercials educating/promoting on safe driving. I've seen a lot of commercials on youtube which were aired on other countries trying to make people aware of the dangers of not wearing seat belts, drunk driving etc.
  16. Considering your priorities, you can check on the following models... Honda Civic (FD1) Nissan Bluebird Sylphy (KG11) Toyota Premio (NZE260) Might need to do a personal import to get within your budget.
  17. What are the priorities to you? Driving pleasure? Resale value? Fuel economy? Comfort? Utility?
  18. When an already answered questions is raised, we could 1. help him out and direct him to that thread (I've seen that happen in autolanka as well) 2. just say use the search. 3. just ignore 4. bash that person wasting the time of everybody. I just thought the first three is lot better. @Ripper: Yes it is very hard to believe internet usage patterns of most people. as i already said there are also registered uses asking "stupid questions" (or rather questions that can be answered by a simple google search) on popular q&a forums.
  19. (I'm not referring to any particular person in this thread) I've seen lot of people with poor internet searching skills, for whom google/wikipedia is not everyday tools. Especially people in professions where they don't use internet much like lawyers doctors etc, and also people in the age group 40~50 who were not hit by the so called cyber wave. So my point? You cant just judge someone for having poor internet searching skills. They are not stupid they just lack a certain skill. Asking someone (by posting on a forum) is more familiar to them than doing a google search. So dont get so irritated when such a person hits autolanka. P.S. check how many questions on www.answers.com or answers.yahoo.com could have been answered by a simple google search.

    Corolla Axio

Please beware that there are "Axio X Ltd Edition" models being sold as G grade ones by changing the badge (in local car sales)! These X Ltd Edition cars has HID Lights, AAC, RPM meter etc but doesn't have Push Start. They are cheaper than G grade ones in Japanese auctions. G grade comes with Push Start.
  21. 50million! ZRT261 (A20) is bit uncommon, but can be bought from Japan at that price. You would be able to get it around 4.8 million. But "S" pkg would be more than that. Isn't ZRT260 a better option?
  22. 27k is correct. That's the amount charged by most "registration agents". 16500 first registration 7500 for forward numbers. 3000 for first year licence + doing the test (without the vehicle!) Usually you just have to provide 2-photos and NIC copy and sit and wait till your book, licence and number plate is delivered. If you are prepared to waste couple of days and do it yourself, then i guess you could save about 2k.
  23. I've driven two KSP90 cars recently (both having mileage around 40,000) and this noise was there. I also agree that its quite annoying at first, but you'd get used to it soon A friend of mine told me that he used 95-octane and the noise was lesser. But I could not try it.
  24. If the condition is good i would say that price is ok. I owned an AE110 for five years and sold it at 15/40 one months back. (1997 SE Saloon G Aniversary) AE110 has a crazy demand in sri lanka... when i advertised it, i got 100+ calls during the first day and sold it the next day! When buying from second hand market i would advice to check how long the owner has used it. Because i've found that most cars which haven gone to many hands has very poor condition. Always look for carefully used vehicles. The ODO and the rest is second in importance.
