Yes u r right the engines are different, but they r both made by dihatsu that's what mislead me, And yes if the prices were same I'd advise any one to go for a passo, but the difference is about 50% of the value. I don't know whether those tiny boxes would reach 160kmph but if they do it would be like driving with the grim reaper in the passenger seat. But this could also not happen because the speed will be markedly reduced if passengers are going along.

The maintainance is not expensive, it's almost zero maintainance compared to some other cars (only oil and filers). But the expense is when u go to fill it up Don't expect anything more than 12-13kmpl

I recently went to buy a vw beetle (didn't buy it tough) What i found out was that those that were imported recondition and had K numbers were in very bad condition and those that were brought brand new with older numbers (G) were in pretty good condition, this was due to the plastics used did not withstand the heat of sri lanka. this was due to them been not acclimatized Recently i went in a newly bought c-class of one of my friends, it had a huge crack in the passenger side door he told it happened due to heat as it was imported from UK, Even the cefiro also have the non-acclimatized problem in the interior, This is only regarding the external appearance but all the mechanical stuff also deteriate in the vehicles made for other countries this could lead to expensive repairs in the long run and might cost more than the small price reduction when u direct import it

The GT is a graet one but i suggest to go for the normal, the GT does less kmpl(about 4kmpl) normal about 6-7kmpl (but the it is 280ps and the normal is 180ps) I had to sell one which i had for less than the price of the normal one.

I've seen santafe's 2000-2001 with above 200k millage abroad without engine problems but it all comes to the auto gear box which is cr*p But if u find a manual one it would be great because the reduction of market due t the auto gear problem means u could get a new one than the others u mentioned. And when comparing with the rav4 which is a lot smaller and older the extra millage on the rav4s mean they could be heading on their way to the garage soon. For the size the santafe's not bad on fuel too, i use a 2008 model one no problems till now bought a manual because of the autogear problem but some say it is not there in the new model.

This could be due to the use of 90 octane fuel, my march did this and it went away after changing to 95oct, The Fit Aria is a pretty good car and has best value for money in it's class, But the market drop is due to some problems with the cvt issues, I recommend u to have a full checkup at the company before u use it because u can't tell what the car was upto in japan as it is recondition. If it says 15kmpl in test conditions it should be lesser than it in actual conditions with breaking and accelerating isn't it

Go for the santafe newer vehicle, better space inside, looks even bigger, yet easy to drive, But try to go for a manual as autos got some problems.

Try to find a 320d e46 pre facelift if u can for that budget if not go for a audi a4 passat if u'r into newer cars go for a nissan tida great ride
