  1. The new tax is applicable irrespective of when the LC was open. Even the cars stuck at the port were subject to the revised taxation
  2. Well vw's tend to have some flimsy internal parts (flimsy for rough use). But you could reglue them to fit perfectly or buy replacements for cheap on ebay. As with any car just look for the basics; maintanance records, owners driving habits, and always go with your gut feeling.

    Ps3 Prices

Hey, any gamers out there, do you know how much a ps3 would cost in Sri Lanka?
  4. I'm in too. How about next weekend? i dnt know if the long holiday is the best though
  5. Ok, so im up for my first service of the 320d. I just want some feedback from past and present BMW owners as to whats the best place to get my service done. So far i have been going to the agents. Since certian times i bring my own parts i find the labour cost at prestige exorbitant. However for some reason when cars are sold people make a big issue as to if it is maintained at prestige. Few specific areas i would like to know include 1. Quality of parts used at milroys when servicing 2. Overall labour skills 3. General price of parts 4. will milroy fix parts you import your self? Thanks in advance
  6. There is a good chance that the cops are "flexible" on the fine payment method when u get caught out of colombo.
  7. Does anyone have any feedback on the 2008 (or the current generation) RAV4? The price ranges between 5.0 to 5.5. It seems to be a perfect sized mid size SUV.

    Bmw 320D To 330I

Well the 320d is more powerful than similar sized petrol engines (e.g. 318i & 320i) and more fuel economical. But i want the power of a 3.0 liter engine. E46 330D engined cars are more expensive than the petrol 330i engine. I need this swap purely to get a much faster 3.0 liter engine!

    Bmw 320D To 330I

Ok, this might sound absurd but im serious on doing it as a project car. I bought a 2001 e46 320d to my wife few weeks ago, which is now hardly used. I was contemplating on converting this in to a 330i (diesel to a petrol). How i plan on going about it is by purchasing a decently well used 330i or even a 325i in UK/Japan and strip down the car and import all parts from the engine to gear box to suspension. The car would cost between $3000 - $4000 dollars plus labour and shipping cost and refitting cost. So i might be looking at about 1.5 mill expenditure. My question is, is it possible? do any of you know of such conversions? and what sort of problems would i have to face in sourcing and finally operating the car? P.S: I know i will never be able to regain the expenses. But thats not a concern!
  11. With so many ppl succumbed to the the axio / allion virus i wanted to start a topic that some of us euro car fans can actually make use of Im a recent user of a euro car (BMW 2004 320D), and wanted to know from more experienced bmw owners, or euro cars in general for that matter on using a bmw / euro as a daily runner; 1. Is it as expensive to live with as the general perception suggests 2. Is it a nightmare selling it 3. Is it worth (subjective i knw) spending on a used euro than a frugal unreg econobox
  12. Hey i was told by the agents that if you idle the car for about a minute before switching off the car and change the breather filter often there is nothing to worry aboout the turbo. What exactly do i need to check about the AC? Cheers
  13. I think one of the most well known diesel european cars in the country is the BMW E46 320D. A lot of this due to the permit imports (the pre facelift) that came in to the country. In addition i personally know of a few 320d's been personally imported. Some of these cars have some starship mileages. My cousine bought his 1999 model 320d with 145,000 miles and sold at 170,000 mileas in two years without any major issue. He used it mainly for outstation running. I was told that if you maintain properly on time these cars are long lasting and efficient cars. I own a facelift common rail diesel, which is a totally different technology. Could someone who has used a 320d (pre facelift 1999 - 2002) give their feedback, because i want to buy one for my wife.
  14. According to my dad, there had been around 6 cops who jumped in to the middle and stopped the cars. He was saying about 12 cars. May be rangerover was in that bunch as well. At such a time 12 can look like 25!!! double vision due to sheer surprise
  15. whoa!!!! did you get caught for this racket as well??? My dad was pissed off about this the whole day. I thought he was exaggerating. Now I see its true. He had gone pass at around 11.30am Suba Anagathayak!!!!!!
  16. Swirl flap changing is a job that would cost u less than 6,000 LKR. I got it done. And just to avoid the turbo going bust make sure u use the voltex breather valve on the car, which is was released by BMW to avoid the traditional valve getting clogged. It would cost u a max of 14,000 LKR. For 20,000 LKR u can sort these issues. I use one now, and it runs like a baby, but it was one heck of a specimen i found. And withonly 400km a month, i really feel im under utilizing a 320d's benefits. But its powerful, the low down torque is amazing. Beware of older cars that have been facelifted. Both the diesel and petrol variants of these facelifts are huge improvements from the previous cars.
  17. Hi. Im new to the forum and am currently in the hunt for a BMW with a budget of around 5.5 mil. I have narrowed down my search to a facelift e46 3 series. I was told that the facelift 320d is a big improvement from the older pre facelift 320d with a smooth common rail engine and a 150bhp 330 NM torque performance. These cars have very nice sounding diesel engine compared to the older 320d. In terms of the 318i, the engine has been improved to valvetronic 143 bhp and 200 odd torque. I have driven both and find the 320d has much better performance in terms of pick up and efficiency over the 318i. does around 13 km for a liter of diesel compared to 7 Km /liter on a 318i petrol Could you please provide additional input you have on these facelift generation e46? Prices of diesels range from 5.0 - 5.5 whilst petrols go from 4.5 - 5.0 depending on reg. number, mileage, condition and options. Thanks
