I drive a 2000 Peugeot 406 executive 2.0L automatic, does 6-8 kmpl in Colombo city traffic and 9-10 kmpl outstation. If it is 2.0L /Manual ,could be better than that. Also one's driving style has to do a lot on this, espessialy on automatic I believe. A friend of mine used to have a 406 GLX 1.8L manual, said his used to do 10kmpl in Colombo,12kmpl outstation. Parts cost are relatively higher than Japs but on durability, much better than Japs . But I believe if you own a Jap ,and if you fix it with genuine/good quality after market parts, it would'nt make a huge difference from fixing a 406 with genuine parts. Like Harshan said;If you take short cuts /quick fixes on a car like this, you gonna be sorry at the end. I don't know much about the other 406 versions like; Rapier,GLX,GTX,HPI and diesels, but a well kept 406 2.OL executive would be somewhat between 1.5m -1.8m. Finally,if you are looking for driving pleasure, stability, safety, prestige, fine immage and comfort, for this price;don't look any farther There's a belief that,406 with AL4 tranny has some issues with it,so you might consult a Peugeot pro if you are looking for an automatic. In fact ,I myself came across with an issue, sometime ago, wich wasn't very serius fortunately.

OK ,YOU can't lock the car with a smart key in,but isn't there any stupid possibity at all to happen that? What if you have a faulty door lock and can't that make the smart key dumb?
-
Umm.....any idea about the current market price for a low mileage , mint condition La Puta in SL ?
-
Where can I get a smart key copy cut just to open the door manually? Point is;if I lock the car with keys in,I can use the cut key and open the door.Somebody told me a laser key cut place is there at MC. Anybody knows about it?

You can find radar detectors from $34.99 to $649.99 or more. A 12 band Cobra like mine is around $50.00 and a 15 band Cobra with a hell of a lot features like touch screen,GPS,speed/red light/approaching emergency vehicle allert is available from $99.00 upwards. But I don't know those features will work in SL. The latest is 22 frequency band AFAIK,some non-main stream manufacturers like Early Warning sell them cheaper but I don't know about their reliability. Try on EBAY/Amazon.

I have a friend of mine,a well expierienced, ASE certified mechanic, who's all the way biased on american cars. Once he was fixing a HYUNDAI ELANTRA and I just asked him,"Are these cars good?" He told me very straight,"They are not bad." Hyundai North America gives the highest warrenty on their power trains,100,000 miles or 10 years; wich ever comes first .I think that's the highest or one of the highest warrenty on such in the continantal USA. While North American versions are a lot differnt from their Asian versions,I believe Korean makes become technologically advanced over the past years, not just with automotive but with consumer electronics, etc as well. When they talk about TV's,I've heard many comments like,"It's gotta be Sony or Samsung". I have a Samsung cell phone ,bought it around 2004 or so,used it like hell, still use it as a back up phone with no problem at all and the original battery came with it still gives me a decent, reliable talk time. Any way these could be some individual expieriences too,So, do some more research, try to test drive an interested model and do hang up in the forum for some time before make your move.

They do work,I use a Cobra 12 band and it warns me fine. But DO NOT rely on them for 100% .Pay good attention even if you use one.
-
Do you think your friend will like to pass me some contact info of his architecture?
-
I searched about the book and it's available on Amazon USA with top reader reviews and from $29.95. E Bay USA has it @$31.65 exclude shipping though. I might buy one after reading some more about it and let you know if it is worth.

Have someone to carry on hand would be a good idea unless you have someone in the customs.

Alright,This is totally out of automotive but hope someone would be interested to talk back. I am going to biuld a new house ,it's not going to fall in any local/traditional or not even common modern housing desighns what we usually see. It's not going to be a manssion or a castle like big house either,I am thinking about a mid size, middle class, two storey house but with totally different looks and features. So Iam concept crazy! Some might call my taste as modern housing, but the so called modern houses in SL are too complecated and too bulky for me. " Concept house desighns " may sound luxury but according to my thinking and calculations,it shouldn't be as expensive as building a regular modern house what we see today. Note that Iam not any related to any kind of architecture or construction trade,so some one correct me if I am wrong. I found some local links ,they lead me to nowhere, and I called one place advertised on ##### some time ago, said they are located on Mt.Lavinia I did not visit them yet. Now, are there any dedicated, expierienced archi's doing concept houses in SL? Is it considerde "luxury"? so, do they charge more than on regular projects? if I manage to get the planning done, can I give it to any regular constructer to do the building,? Or is it kinda "ask for a mess?" So if you already have a concept house or if any one interested about building one,if you have any good/bad expieriences on that,If you know any pro's I can get the thing done,I'd like to hear from you. Thanx.
