  1. "ballast" LOL can you please name this electricians so we can all stay away? You can buy oem ballasts off eBay, I think yours should be denso units. you can even fit better aftermarket hid + ballast for lesser than the cost of replacing an entire headlights.
  2. No auto of this age will do 10+ in city. If one is very light footed he will get 9-ish max. Im heavy footed and i rarely pass 8. However on long distances i have even gotten 14.5 with 3 passengers and cargo while being driven hard. If one babies it, shouldn't be too hard to go beyond 16+ even.
  3. Okay folks an update to the pressure problem. So we went to a couple of radiator places and checked for blocks in the hoses and radiator and found none. Unfortunately it seems most are not capable of detecting any pressure buildups inside the engine block. The final conclusion we came to was that since the new head gasket that was put on wasn't original (due to unavailability at the time) and that was causing some pressure buildup inside. I will update the thread once the gasket is replaced.
  4. Guys above me have pretty much covered most of it but on point 2 the average lifetime of mineral oil is 6 months so even if you change it now it will still expire. I thought the allion was suppose to use synthetic ? in that case change the oil now to synthetic and change it again when you get back. However if i was in your position i would just give the car to one my friends or family members to use as their daily runner.
  5. Did he come to work from Homagama in reverse ? First time i heard someone sell a vehicle because the revers gear doesnt work.
  6. What exactly was the issue he mentioned ?

    Mazda Axela

Mazda gearboxes are very picky, it has to be Mazda MV (dont quote me on this, i have no experience with mazda cvt boxes) Dont let any makabass touch the gearbox, and dont use common ATF like Dextron 3. Best thing is to ask Mazna motors (talk to Lalith - 0714242464)
  8. Talk to Mr. Dhammika in cotta road 0112694223
  9. You might be right on the all electric part, i guess the range extender would probably qualify as a "gasoline hybrid" under our tax scheme. There are a few up for sale. I have seen 2-3 on the road as well.
  10. If you are feeling a little adventurous you can give the grande punto a try. Also the i3 is in your budget if thats your kind of thing.
  11. I dont see a point in this car really. Its as heavy as a normal sedan, has a cvt, makes only 130ish hp combined, can barely outrun a 4 door counterpart and you loose the rear space.
  12. LOL Non independent rears are connected to each wheel with a beam. On front wheel drives the rear is just a beam. on rear wheel drive its the rear axle itself Independent rears come in many forms but multilink is the most common. You can identify these easily because links from each wheel is connected to the body and not connected to each wheel.
  13. 15 days every 3 months = 60 days for an entire year. If so going for a hybrid really makes no sense. Apart from the depreciation factor, your battery will just go bad without you ever using it. Why not consider some decent euro like an e46 320D or Pug 407 ? 1. Comfort since I will take my family - No jap will come close to either 2. Decent Mileage (for long drives) - you will get 16-18 minimum 3. Safety in unforeseen circumstances - nothing to worry in this department 4. Second market - well...... this is a bit of a question mark 5. Availability of spare parts and maintenance - Not too much of an issue if you live around colombo
  14. Presume he is talking about "Fuel pulse width"
  15. Both are there but coil being separate is the most common. This way saves some trunk space but sacrifices independent tire movement.
  16. You still wont get anything over 7 in city. Some parts are shared with mazda bjs but stuff like engine components, body parts might not be so common. And if you are planning to make a profit this is not the vehicle. If you look at it from the point of getting a good value for money suv it might not be a bad option.
  17. You cant fix it with a new boot if you already get the "tak tak" noise. Well this will be your fate if you ignore it
  18. Take it to place like Pet#o Seems like some sort of firmware issue or lock. Maybe these unit needs to be updated from time to time.
  19. Yes hydrogen fuel cells The main benfit is that you can refuel it just like we fill our tanks with petrol, without having to wait for hours to charge batteries like in an EV.
  20. Does the camera also work when you switch press aux when the car is not in reverse ? If so then it has been wired wrong. The trigger for the reverse cam is usually the reverse lights. The camera turns on with the reverse lights which is what triggers the head unit to auto switch to reverse mode. It might also be an issue if your reverse lights dont turn on at all.
  21. Well since you accidentally got into the forum you should have "accidentally" used the search before opening threads since this has been discussed.
  22. Yes people look for this and buy them, we know ! what exactly is your point ? The point vag brought up was about safety, what is the relevance of web searches to safety ? And no one here told the company to "Ban" these models, we simply advice people not to buy these when there are better alternatives.
  23. Your ac is probably low on gas, it shuts down the compressor to stop it from being damaged. You dont need a mechanic, you need to show it to an ac repair place.
  24. Use mazna for things like ATF changes, ecu diagnostics and fairly complicated issues that the average garage wont be able to diagnose. Other than that there is really no need for a specific "Mazda" specialized place for simple repairs since the bj5p is a fairly simple cars to maintain. If you need to repair the gearbox show it to Nilwala motors in madiwela.
  25. Too much concentration will cause issues with rubber parts. But there are clear indications on the bottle to use with x amount of petrol liters. If your neighbor poured the entire bottle with low fuel then it is possible. Usually best to go from full tank to empty. Most bottles are designed for 60L tanks.
