?? Mate what you on about? What I listed was accurate. Your wiki link does nothing in the way of explaining what you are trying to explain. I just kept it simple as those engines were the relevant units to SL. Well maybe not the 35d . However I did forget the 18d which comes in the 3 series and the X1 for the permit. The BMW 2.0 TD engine (1995cc) comes in various stages of tune in present production. 1.) 16d - 114/116 HP 2.) 18d - 141/143 HP 3.) 20d efficient dynamics - 163/181 HP - 1,3,5,X1 4.) 20d - 177/181/184 HP - 1,3,5,X1,X3 5.) 23d - 201/204 HP - 1,X1 6.) 25d - 214 HP - 5 The BMW 3.0 TD engine (2993cc) Comes in the below stages of tune. 1.) 25d - 194/204 HP - 3 (soon to be discontinued as the 2.0L 25d is taking over the reigns). 2.) 30d - 241/245/255 HP - 3,5,7,X3,X5,X6 3.) 35d - 281/286/295/308 HP - 3,5,X3 4.) 40d - 306 HP - 7,X5,X6 BMW are working on a tri turbo 3.0L diesel which may power a diesel M5 variant the 7 series, X5, and the X6.

BMW diesel engines as a matter of fact BMW engines are award winners. The 2.0 turbo diesel (20d) 3.0 turbo diesel (30d) and the 3.0 twin turbo diesel (35d or 40d) are all the leading power trains in it's class.

Had a 98 E250 diesel there are a few 250 turbo diesels around but very very rare. 1. Never checked the fuel consumption but can't be great as the car is really under powered. 2 again never tested but 14 to 15 might be realistic. Again It's a very slow car. 3 250 diesel is the most common my advice is to avoid it if power is what you are looking for. Will be better off with a 250 td. Better yet if you can stretch the budget go for a 210 300 td. That's quick.

No you certainly cannot mate. You can buy a 03 LC Colorado (Prado) With around 100k miles on it but def not a 09. Please prove me wrong by attaching the particular link on your post. Don't mislead people.

Mate you're just quoting prices of cars without even insurance or freight. On top of that there will be costs incurred when transporting the cars to the yards and veritas charges and then the charges incurred over here when clearing. We all know how much these used cars go at over there. The problem is the tax. No matter how cheap you buy the car the agents always value it higher, hence you'll be spending a lot on taxes. By the way I'd love it if you'd show me where to buy a 09 landcruiser 'in super condition' for 9000 pounds. Are you sure it ain't a cat D? You''ll be lucky to get a decent Hilux for that price mate. Whatever you think mate, let me tell you that the profit margins to be made in this industry ain't that great anymore. There are too many car importers and too many cars as well. Also be prepared to block your money for a long long time.

You can buy it off ebay. I've attached the link. Check if they ship over here if not you'll need someone who lives in the U.K. It'll be cheaper that way. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toyota-Hilux-owners-manual-/160642626284?pt=UK_CarParts_Vehicles_Manuals_Litterature_ET&hash=item25670bf2ec#h

If you have anyone in Australia it's possible to get an English version.

Mate, there's a 211 advertised for 6.5M on Autolanka itself. ???
-
It's a rare car on Sri lankan roads mainly because it was offered only as a manual. If you can drive a manual and live with the fact that it's pretty slow, you'll be surprised by the economy and decent comfort. Good luck find one though.

28 psi is ok for small cars like Vitz upto the size of an Allion. But for larger cars specially European ones need atleast 30 psi. Larger SUVs and other vehicles need about 30-32 psi. If not the tire wear will be uneven (excessive wear from the sides), mileage gotten out of a set of tires and the gas mileage will be less. Even the handling characteristics of the car will be affected drastically.

I too think U.K imports are better for quite a few reasons (listed below). Of course importers of Jap cars will put U.K imports down and U.K importers will put the Jap cars down. At the end of the day it all comes down to facts and figures. 1.) All vehicles are built to run in any environment. I.E tropicalized. So no A/C, rubber melting issues etc etc. (It must be noted that vehicles (cars) coming from either country have a lower ground clearance compared to the brand new equivalents. 2.) An approved used car will carry all the service history, accident repair records, and mileage certifications (not BV or JAAI cos they mean nothing). Therefore if a seller claims he's selling an approved used then he cannot fail to provide all the above documents. It must be said that an approved used car does carry a small premium but a premium well worth investing in. 3.) Full FM range (local conversions aren't successful), and switches and UI in English. Most sellers of Jap cars highlight Navigation, TV in the cars as options (useless options as they are all incompatible here). In fact some state DVD as well just cos it has screen for navigation. Most small Jap cars with screens have only navigation and do not have in built DVD players. Due to all of this the buyer pays a hefty premium for these useless options and eventually trades the head unit in for a low quality Chinese brand or a branded unit. Most importantly, pays extra for it. No such issues with U.K cars. 4.) All the above documents including the manuals are in ENGLISH. You don't have to go looking for your friends friend who happened to live in Japan to make sense of it all. 5.) No annoying Japanese female voices telling you to do things and making you feel like you are in a flight about to take off all the time when you are about to set off on your journey.

If you are thinking of sending the corolla, you cant. It has to be 2 years or less from the date of 1st reg to the date of shipment.

Whoa! Looks like sensitive topic for some people. Is it that time of the month?

Hi all. I was going down dutugamunu street kohuwala yesterday and stopped at a car sale which had displayed a red Mercedes Benz C200 K AMG Sport (I feel it's not right to state the name but any of you guys familiar with that area probably know this place as the car is displayed right in front). It's a 2008 late with the body and interior in pretty good nick. The mileage was only 10,500 k.m. for an 08 car that seemed pretty low. So I asked for the service records carried out in the U.K and found out that the last service was carried out at 17,500 Miles (not k.m) in Jan/11. I had an argument with the car sale guys but they kept on saying that they weren't aware of this, and that it had been done in the U.K even before Bureau Veritas carried out the inspection as that certificate complies with the car meter reading. That goes to show how affecting these pre shipment inspection are. So basically the moral of the story is if buying a used car from abroad the fact that it's been JAAI or BV certified means jack. I know in some car ads the biggest selling point of it is that it's been certified by one of the above authorities. A car cannot be cleared here without these inspection certs to begin with so it's not some great indicator of the car's history. For all we know It could have run 50k and turned down to 10K and they'll certify it as 10K. Always be mindful make sure the complete service records are available and a valid mileage certification is available. Basically go for an approved used car. I know this is tough for Jap imports as all is in Jap so good luck with that. All these guys are looking for is making more money selling hacked cars. and always remember IF ANY THING IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE!! IT DEFINITELY IS!!

Buying A Car Audio System.need A Advice?
g-unit replied to lahiru_carlover's topic in General Automotive
If your car can handle an ISO 2-DIN system and want one of the best systems go for the Kenwood DDX-8036BT. Pretty pricey but you get what you pay for. Amazing dvd playback through the 7" WVGA display, amazing sound. Very smart 3D user interface. Over 100k though. -
Check on a doctor permit Toyota Yaris 1.3 . Since the 3 years are up they'll be transferable as well. Plus you'll be getting a 07/08 car.

Land Cruiser 200 Or 2011 Montero Or Discovery 4 ??
g-unit replied to jaliya63's topic in General Automotive
Also if the priority was having all the options under the sun in your suv a Lexus RX450H SE-L PREMIUM would satisfy anyone's need. You name it you got it. And at around 15.5 mil it undercuts almost all decent 4x4s. The landcruiser 200 diesel is about balance between comfort on road with go anywhere ability. And it treads that fine line pretty damn well. I know you need some guts putting you 20+ mil vehicle in the rough. But it sure feels good knowing that if the need ever arose it'll kick *** -
Land Cruiser 200 Or 2011 Montero Or Discovery 4 ??
g-unit replied to jaliya63's topic in General Automotive
The problem with the Prado is whether it's the 2.7 or 4.0 it's way too common. You take a ##### on Sunday you see over 20 of them for sale. It's a decent vehicle but cannot be compared to the 200. And the extra options available would the surround view cams and the terrain response system. Also the 200 diesel has 650NM TORQUE. It'll pull a house down. -
Land Cruiser 200 Or 2011 Montero Or Discovery 4 ??
g-unit replied to jaliya63's topic in General Automotive
From your 3 choices the LC200 is the best by far. I have one (and I did check out the disco 4 at the time as well) the 4.5L twin turbo V8 is a reason enough to make that choice. It's still a de tuned version of what's offered in europe and australia (not even our super diesel is good enough to run in that state of tune). It's also got all the creature comforts and build and meterial quality of a luxury car and a very capable 4wd system 2 spare wheels and a dual fuel tank which is helpful for long and rough trips. It's worth mentioning the fact that the Lexus LX570 is based on the 200 and both share the same mechanicals and dimensions. The interior is a pretty close match as well. Having experience with the domestic petrol 200 (not the 202) this seems more comfortable as well. When time comes for a change leaving inflation out of the equation you just might make some money out of it as well. That's never bad thing. About the discovery 4. It's a decent vehicle but they don't offer the 3L twin turbo in the discovery 4 over here so we get the step motherly treatment and an old 2.7L engine which was offered in in the d3. Which to be honest sounds plenty in theory but in practise pretty slow. It won't be tough and reliable as the 200 either. Finally the montero. It falls way behind both the competitors above, in other than the resale value where it'll come in 2nd to the mighty Toyota. Hope this helps. -
Hi guys, i heard from several sources that the govt. is going to change the age of a motor car to be imported from the allowed 2 years to 1 affective from the 1st august. Which is to say that it'll be for LCs opened on and after the above date. I must add that none of them is 100% certain. I ask this question because my supplier has a few cars older than a year to be shipped out over here. I'm pretty sure that there are many more suppliers with stock over a year to be shipped out so any concrete feedback on this will be much appreciated. Thanks guys.

If you didn't get your car serviced as soon as you bought it, get your vehicle checked at a service station. Dirty air cleaners and bad engine oil (specially if there's sludge build up) affects the fuel consumption. get the oil and fuel filters changed as well.

E39 520d never came to Sri Lanka. Only came in 530d guise as diesel. The market for for one of those is around 6 mill. I have an E60 520d and let me tell you that it is in no way under powered. Cracks 62 in 8.8 secs. That's more than good enough for our roads super overtaking urge and a very decent top end. I've personally touched 175 on route to galle and 185 to habarna. There was more to come as well. Almost as quick as an E39 530d. An E60 520d goes between 9-11 mill depending on the condition.

clearly you don't understand the meaning of maths or the English language. I'm pretty sure everyone else understood perfectly what i said. So stop being slow and get with the program. This is autoLanka. A forum for intellectuals. So the smartest comment you made was at the end when you put your name and said OUT. Now do us all a favour and stay out.

Bro before you jump into making comments in threads I suggest you use your head. I said I ran 400 k.m and filled it up till it was FULL TANK. In which point in my post did I say that I ran my tank bone dry????????????????? There were 3 bars left when I filled it. Is that simple enough for you? Also if I had to pump 42 liters my friend I'd have to push the car to the station.

i have a vitz 1.0 F grade with the 14'' wheels. I recently covered a return trip to galle 230 k.m and a Colombo run of 170 k.m and pumped just 24 litres full tank. The above mileage was done with A/C . From my experience the driving style matters the most in getting a good fuel economy. Stop hard accelerations and unnecessary braking. It works wonders. The U grade with the 15 wheels might do a little less. I hope you got your car serviced as soon as you got it.
