  1. Received an email from Toyota Lanka.. Yesterday...Quoted the details from that only...Not too sure about model names in versions...
  2. Toyota lanka is introducing wigo with a price tag of 3.5mn...But made in Indonesia...Kind of an axia with a Toyota badge... Just see whether that helps..
  3. It's the fan.. Check the fan for issues said in above post.check the blowing direction too
  4. first , you should have decent mechanical knowledge to own a 4dr5..no offense mate ..but that it is.. second , why you want to brake when the engine is stopped..?? third, the symptoms you have mentioned are not really symptoms ,,it is how the brake works.
  5. doesn't have abs & airbag..models with airbag & abs starts at 3.05Mn
  6. Tks..noticed the sign..
  7. Just a quick question..is any variant of JDM fd1 comes with hydraulic steering system??..or every car equipped with EPS..??...I don't see the EPS sign in dashboard when starting, in cars I checked..

  10. Its a standard process, but almost all the finance co/ banks do one day transfer and pay the money to seller, but if you feel it is unsafe ..you can do the transfer at RMV and register the mortgage/absolute ownership in favour of the bank/finance co then claim the money. but that will eat your one whole day at RMV as these transactions feed lot of buggers in RMV officially & unofficially.. just compare the charges the banks takes for transfers with normal charges..almost 60% -70% more than usual charges...last thing you can do is that you keep the car with you until you receive the full payment, but to receive the payment from bank the borrower/ buyer has to confirm the bank that he has received the vehicle in good condition.. but if you have a car everyone wants..he will confirm... its a simple bargaining power.
  11. no no buddy you got it wrong..im going spend on the car...probably a mild restoration ..already stripped the car ...will update soon
  12. thanks friends.. i decided to keep the car for a while..probably for another 3/4 years or so....until then I'm going to spend on her (i know it will be an unrecoverable expense ..but i love to spend)...thanks for the inputs...
  13. But its not she is pushing towards an auto gear car...and she is more happy to use taxis/cabs whenever she wants to go alone...its just me gets boiled when i get to know the taxi charges... and im bit worried about the point #2..thats why im holding back with the same car and for converting..a BIG NO... the manuals are rare..i don't convert even i get paid for that.. & a second car is too much for us... Axela is a nice car to consider, was in my mind also...i did not think about the cs3 ..will consider that too
  14. guys, sorry to hijack the thread ..but since my question is pretty similar to the topic i thought ask the it here in an existing thread.. I have been using a Ek3 Vi manual car for the past 5 years..and looking forward to upgrade the car to a relatively newer car.. basic reason to upgrade the car is the present one is with manual gears and my wife doesn't want to /doesn't know to drive a manual gear car, its pretty difficult for me to be available all the time when she needs the car & although i am very fond of manual gear cars i have come to a stage to compromise my interests in order to live a practical life..lived a very satisfied life with the Ek3 though .... and these are my capabilities to acquire & maintain a new car. - i can spend upto Rs.3.0Mn can be stretched upto Rs.3.2/3.3 (but happy if i could save that 300k or more even) without any loans or leases. - pump a fuel worth of Rs. 18k - 20k per month .. i drive 45-50 kms a day thus roughly 1200 km per month (calculated with 8 kmpl) - set aside another Rs.200k per year for insurance and ad-hoc maintenance (services , oil changes included) These are the requirements im looking for - has to be a reliable car..i dont want to spend time on the road, garages or importing parts - I travel a lot with my family hence a sedan preferable with the capability to pull with 4 adults - Decent ground clearance - Fuel economy is not that important..happy with 8 kmpl in city - will be using the car for the next 3 years, I dont have a specific brand preference...please suggest some cars which can come in to my kind of bracket
  15. tail behind a DS Gunasekera leyland..he will safely take you home ..btw seriously .. few years ago we were told to wait untill a DS bus to arrive at a checkpoint by a army personal in dambulla - trinco road around 10pm , since there were less no of vehicles & the risk of elephant crossing the road, we waited till a leyland to come & the Army personal had told the bus driver to take us behind ..driver told us to tail him closely & carefully upto a certain point...atfer a 6-7 km of driving the bus driver honked like nothing & the bus veered to the right suddenly but didnt stop..we followed as well ..there was a elephant roaming on the left side freely ,seemed like good guy though...but hell of an experience... in puttalam - anuradhapura road, i have traveled many time during dusk ..but not encountered a close call.. though saw some far away from the road.. but usually i speed more than 100 (not recommended though ..but less time less risk) but i dont think engine off/ lights off idea would be that good since you dont know what is going to happen & if you are idle the elephant might come closer & then if you act anything stupid ..that might cause problem..usually the elephants never charge at the moving vehicle unless it is totally disturbed.. SO just drive casually and avoid the elephant as much as possible ..dont slow down/dont accelerate fast.. dont flash your lights..dont honk even (that honking thing only applies to leylands..they are bigger and the horn also really make elephant to move away..) just drive past the elephant..
  16. so...you think alto 's are cheap and should not be on the road when your driving your EXPENSIVE car. seriously.. what kind of attitude you have buddy..? you think the increased no of vehicles only cause traffic in colombo & you want the prices of the vehicles to go up simply for you to drive leisurely .it is the lack good roads & and drivers with your kind of ATTITUDE cause traffic.. seriously you should sell your car go back to school..a good school..
  17. i just got married..can you tell how long my wife can .....
  18. Dont know about the taxes...btw government is going curb lending against vehicles ...accordingly maximum would be 70% of the value...
  19. if you still biased towards es8 & fuel econ...get a es8 with manual gears..will give you atleast 10 in mixed driving..or else get a newer ek3 preferably a ViRS...and save some money...you will love it..
  20. try to find a ES5 vtec (though it prized bit higher than your budget ) there are few up for sale these days...ES5 comes with a 1.6cc engine and has better power/weight ratio than the other ES models & might return decent fuel figures than es1/es8..but dont expect 11 kmpl in es5 either..you might get maximum of 10 with correct driving patterns..
  21. guys..just small help..im kind of deviating from the main topic..however its bit regarding hybrid vehicles particularly civic hybrid...since i didnt want to open a new thread im continuing with this..(hope the admins allow..) this is what i required..currently im driving a 96 vtec ek3 with manual tranny..which squeeze little above 11kmpl in city driving(ragama - wellawatte and back..),,however my week running is around 400km -450km.. then monthly around 1800km..which give me a fuel bill of 26k(95 oct) per month..which is bit costly although the car returns best fuel figures.. my questions are.. 1. will a hybrid give noticeable savings if i switch to a hybrid ?? --personally i dont have any problem with the current car apart from the maintenance required for car which is 18 yrs old..and the VTEC is what i never want to miss. 2. If i go for a hybrid what are the cars i can look into.. --civic hybrid in my mind (do not like toyotas..Fit hybrid is ok..but the budget is max of 3.0Mn) --or any newer gasoline car which gives same kmpl ..preferably a Honda... need your advises and suggestions..
  22. taxes are comparatively low than earlier...leasing rates reduced to 9.5%...huge competition out there for banks and finance companies to give leases..even though the return is almost nothing........a person intends to buy a old vehicle on cash basis...now thinking to go for a new vehicle with a lease ...definitely the used cars will loose market...but what will happen next...i could smell a crisis similar to subprime mortgage crisis
  23. ado...this axxhxxx opened a thread to ask whether to change engine oil in zero mileage car???? ...i just want to know whether you married bro...? ..or just imagine the state of his wife...after the marriage...
  24. if it is vtec...then must be CVT....take care of it....VTEC with good CVT is something you cant ask for more
  25. go for hire purchase AFAIK..now banks are giving HPs..considering you are looking a vehicle which is 7 years old..you might be able to go for a HP facility with a repayment period of 3 years..roughly for 60% of the value of the vehicle...
