  1. Can someone please recommend a good place to repair a stuck window (power shutter) ,preferably in Maharagama,Nugegoda,Dehiwela ,Mount Lavinia side
  2. my Nissan N16 (QG series engine) 1.6 manual had the issue of RPM going up crazily and it had 2 issues i) Idle control valve was faulty ii) ECU had an issue (it had got damaged due to the faulty ICV valve as per the guy who fixed the ECU ) both above issues were fixed and now working fine
  3. Hi,I need to get an ECU for my Nissan Sunny N16 (1600cc ,manual) 2004 model, pics attached of the ECU Any idea as to where I can get it from and the cost?
  4. I have a problem with my Nissan N16 (1.6 manual) ,it failed its emission test on high hydro carbon levels and then got the injection cleaned and tuned it up, but now the choke is sticking and the engine is revving to about 3000rpm and the only way to stop it so far is switch off the engine and then switch it on again about 3 times any idea as to what caused this and how it can be rectified as I need the car for a long trip in a week
  5. Hi,can you pls give me the Samsung Sri Lanka office contact no to check if they can do a replacement
  6. Its been 3 months already and now got 3 lines on the screen 😔
  7. Any idea where I can get a display replaced for a Samsung S22 with a green line issue (randomly green line appeared after an update) apparently its a an issue that has hit the S series phones Unfortunately this phone is out of warranty as its now 2 years old so the dealer wont do anything, I can get down the display off ebay but would like to know a good place to fix it and how much it will cost me approximately ,thanks in advance
  8. As an N16 facelift user I can recommend the car, mines a manual 1.6 engine and J series imported B/N its very comfy and parts are freely available with AC and in heavy traffic I get 8-10kmpl and on long distances on flat roads its 14-15kmpl,I have not yet had the time to go upcountry to check fuel on climbs though
  9. as far as I know its not possible to do so ,unless its a EV and you have been remitting money to Sri lanka but not sure if that scheme is there or not
  10. You can get a Proton wira automatic one for your budget but be aware the interior on those are very bad esp the plastic bits Engine and gearbox are generally good on those as they are the mitsubishi lancer CB2 ones
  11. I second what iRage has said above,do not convert this car, sell it and buy another one thats automatic !
  12. Well the Nissan Trad Sunny is newer of the lot I mentioned and it has a solid reputation ,also if your lucky you will get the one with power steering as well ,there are different trim levels and all apart from the last are all Carburetor models, last model had one trim level with efi but those are very very rare and also out of your budget (do remember to keep aside 300K for repairs when you buy 2nd hand cars) I used the Lancer A72 car and the C12 Lancer saloon ,of these the A72 came out tops,C12 though better looking is not as hardy The Lancer Box sadly eluded me so I could not own one, but know ppl who owned and they are very good and comfy BUT as all others said a car this old is only as good as how it was maintained and I would humbly ask you to take someone really knowledgeable about cars this old when you go to see them if not your asking for trouble I will also advice you to Avoid cars such Daewoo,Hyundai Stellar,Hyundai Pony,Mitsubishi Tredia (lack of parts and most are hacked out) as well as Daihatsu Charades and the 11 or 12 Sri Ford Laser/Mazda 3232 (lots of them have been raced and hacked out)so stay clear of them Good luck and please keep us posted!
  13. I would also advice like others to keep the Pajero In case you have no other choice and need to get a car then you can try the Maruti 800 (try to get the efi version, there was a 5fwd model which my uncle had and quite good, consumables are cheap as well As for Japanese older cars (40+ years olds) I would prefer the Lancer A72 (car or wagon),Lancer Box over a Lancer C12,my dad had a Lancer A72 which I learnt driving in and was bullet proof (however ride comfort is not that good),it had an AC as well I later bought a Lancer C12 which though good looking and stylish, the body tends to go out of shape and not at sturdy as the A72 (flat light tubelight models),The Lancer Box is of course a very good car and a good candidate The Toyota DX wagon is good but do remember that like the Lancers above there is no power steering You can also consider the Nissan Trad sunny earlier models ,those a good cars too Pls do take a good mechanic when you go looking for cars as otherwise your bound to get cheated by the seller in 90% of the time Good luck!
  14. if the clutch pedal is having a loss of pressure it could be the clutch master pump is losing pressure, it can be due to something as simple as leaking seals which can be rectified with a new kit or might need a new pump, best check it with a good mechanic
  15. Can the OP clarify if its a manual box or an auto? ,if its the former could be a slipping clutch Also in Lankan terms the facelift version of the N16 is being misleadingly sold as an N17 so car imported brand new in 2003 -2005 are actually N16 facelift models!, I have have the same car (1.6 ) and a manual box, in mine when bought the clutch was slightly high and got it adjusted but somewhere in the future it would need a replacement
  16. As I'm looking out for my next set of wheels I have shortlisted the following 3 1) Suzuki Swift (2006 - 2010) 2) Nissan Sunny N16/17 (1500 or 1600cc) 3) Lancer CS series 2005-2009 (1600 cc) Has to be petrol and Manual shift i) what are the drawbacks of these and any common problems and things to look out for ii)how is the spare parts availability and price iii)fuel consumption iv) current market price of above I know some of the above models were discussed before but then these cars were much newer Thank you in advance!
  17. I need a rear windscreen for a 1992 Ford Laser (saloon) ,we have searched all the usual places from Delkanda,Panchikawatte,Samarasinghe,Galle windscreens,Kurunagala etc no luck any idea where I can get one?. Cannot fir Mazda 323 glass as the Fords rear glass is slightly longer, front ones are compatible though This is the model in question

  19. Someone I know of needs to get radiotherapy done for prostrate cancer and he has been advised by one oncologist that both maharagama and the private are the same but the difference is that in private hospital you dont have waiting times However others have warned about Maharagama saying that they use substandard drugs due to massive corruption and they are not that great and to go private if you want to get treated correctly and recommended c******o hospital saying that they have the best equipment,I wonder if anyone can share their views
  20. I would need to get compression test done on a Ford Laser (carb model) as its smoking,my mechanic feels its just the valve seals and the compression is good however before I get down to getting it done I would like to get a compression test done Do you know any place in Nugegoda,Dehiwela,Kohuwela,Mt lavinia or Ratmalana where I can get this done and the approx cost
  21. As a Sri Lankan passport holder are you allowed to bring in (hand carry) either a hiFi set or a TV via the BIA without any duty being levied or do we have to declare it and go via the red channel?
  22. Hows the road condition is it a carpeted road?
  23. Im planning a road trip to Jaffna via Mannar and would like to know the best route from Colombo to Mannar,I would be driving an older car and would like to go on good roads as much as i can ,of course I can go via Madawchchiya but would like to know a short route if possible and travel time Would be grateful if you recommend good place to stop and eat on the way too, usually I have been stopping near Pallavi at a place called Seibels Seafood and its been quite good so far
  24. I would like to know if anyone has insurance with insureme.lk and if so hows their service The cars that we use for work are due on renewal and insureme.lk is the cheapest but I would like to know who is their underwriter and hows good are they in terms of a claim
  25. you can get Toyots DX wagons,Lancer Box or Lancer C12/11,Tube light etc they are good cars and come with AC but getting 10-12kml is doubtful in city you might get 12 kms in long trips thats all the spare parts availability is very good for them and very hardy cars too
