  1. Hey, what I said was if the car you have has an option, an option that the guys who built the car installed on it for a purpose, you could surely use it. Its like you keep your best player out of the rugby world cup final assuming he will get injured, wheres the logic in that ? Anyway the GT-R racing down green path was a beauty to watch and hats off to both the owners for puting them on the track.
  2. I am not sure exactly when this was started but my answer to the question is " YES " , Hybrids have succeeded in Sri Lanka. There is ample proof of that on our roads as almost 1 out of 10 cars you see is a Hybrid. ( My guess only). And still people continue to keep on importing and selling these in a large way. There are so many Harriers, lexus, insights, Prius on the roads all Hybrid, I think there is also now a hybrid vitz. This is the future and its only a matter of time when electric/hybrid sports cars will be doing 0-100Km in less than 3 seconds or less. Sad as it maybe the gas guzzling hot rods will become dinosaurs. The game is about transfer of energy.
  3. Just read the sports section yesterday in the papers and there was an article on the drag races. But it was just one sided and all they talked about was the EZ racing and it was made to sound as if the entire drag race was won by them. There was one big picture of the Honda and thats it. No mention of a GTR or any of the other super cars.... I felt this was just pathetic, as these Ez guys were just trying to get the maximum millage out of this event and quite surprising the papers too being just one sided.
  4. There is a fundamental difference in this comparison, the Navara is a double cab and the sport is a station wagon. And one is used and the other brand new. Its obvious that the sport is the better option out of the two. Plus the sport is a newer model and will retain some resale value Vs the Navara. Btw how much is the new montero sport for the permit ?
  5. Whichever way we analyse this something is not right or fitting in to place. I do take Darin's point that the excessive using of launch control is not good for the car, but surely this is just one event or THE event when this could have been used.
  6. Yes, you can wait for the next duty reduction that's going to happen with the new budget......
  7. Dont think the GT-R was stock, its performance tuned by top secret, also got some sort of exhaust mod, and thought it was pumping out 600+ bhp ? So the power to weight ratio may have been better on the GT-R. Does anyone know if the GT-R was using the launch control ?
  8. Subaru's for the cops... thats good.
  9. This simply cannot be done.... First of all buying a permit is another complicated issue, it will depend on the type of permit as well. If you are buing a permit, a basic toyota is not the car to buy as the duty you save is not as much Vs something else like a BMW d . Best you buy a Honda Civic, or get a Govt job.... : )
  10. Hi Harin, here goes... 1.differance between escudo and grand vitara. Its the same thing no difference, Grand Vitara is the export version and the Escoudo or the Grand Escoudo is the Japan Domestic model ( JDM ) . There are some differences between the two such as heated seats, leather seats, sun roofs, different lights, etc.. so you need to look out 2. any known issues. Assuming you are refering to the XL 7 version, nothing major and the V6 engine is solid, and heats up like hell, so proper care should be taken wrt the cooling system and the oil changes etc.. Some are know to have all sorts of electrical issues, but guess that is common with almost all cars these days. In my view nothing major to be concerned of. 3. agents attitude Err.... this is a tough one, A*W they are good people, but the problem is the place is full of Marutis and the smaller cars, so they are not very focused on the XL-7, some of the mechanic have no clue and simply useless. But the customer care part is done well. I wish they had a seperate unit to handle the 4WD vehicles only. 4. repairability, maintainability , reliability Anything can be repaired, maintenance is not very expense ( relative ) in comparison , also prices of parts are probably same as for any Toyota, but difficult to find. However the agents will bring down any part within a few weeks so no big issue and nothing to loose sleep over. 5.comparision or parts cost - Said above 6. average fuel ecconomy, - 5 to 6 Km/lt Max, but if you could find a manual this will be much better. 7, resale value - Very low, but since you are anyway buying from the second hand makets ( which has already taken the drop ) it cannot do down any further. Maybe another 100k max, since you are adding another user. 8. reasonable price for 7 seater model. Anything between Rs 3 to 3.5 Mil . Sometimes its worth to pay more for a one which is well looked after after. This is a big vehicle, and you get almost all the benifits of a good off road vehicle, so its good value for money. 8. parts availability Already said
