  1. I don't represent this agent here, what I said was their concerns were sensible knowing how complex the hybrid synergy drive system and having a high voltage battery back behind the passenger seat. I'm sure back then they would've done a feasibility and it might've got failed, you never know.
  2. Try your level best to do a solid job and it will certainly reward you long term. What was the tube you used? must be the thickness of it isn't sufficient as this line doesn't hold any pressure as such. How's the petrol filter? you might have to replace it soon if you filled an empty tank and the tank has been dirty. what went wrong with the gear? is gear lever moves freely or it got stuck? if it moves freely the usual suspect is gear links and if it's stuck check whether the lever mechanism and links are ok and the clutch system works fine. I'm 99% confident that it cannot be something inside the gearbox as the BA7 gearbox fitted to 504 is known to rock solid.
  3. don't have first hand experience but few of friends and a close family friend used this and the feedbacks I received wasn't positive. One of them actually upgraded from a SB13 and according to him, the SB13 is far better and solid ride than it's successor. It popped up issues during a short period of time despite the fuel consumption of it couldn't be justified for a car of it's class. There was an engine overheating issue and this was there in all the SB14's I knew of. One of them used to drive back and forth between Colombo - Kandy and his back seat always had 5-6 water bottles stacked up. Apparently what he said was almost all SB14's he knew of has this overheating issue so that's 'native' to this car and he wasn't bothered to diagnose even. I may be wrong here and with all due respect to SB14 owners, this may not be the best diesel option you have out there.
  4. it may be a funny note for those whom are trying to get rid of all these boxes lying in about their car sales. However, I heard lot of my colleagues including my boss praise this article saying how educative it was. I've come across an article which has again released from Toyota itself on safety measures to be taken on certain incidences, such as accidents, etc, and that article and this were more or less on the same lines. So what it was there in the article is not just funny lame sh**t but sensible opinion of a responsible agent and I'm sure all the other countries/governments whom are supporting hybrids would've gone through these cycles of public awareness, user education, infrastructure readiness and more importantly whether the system/model is localized to suite the conditions which has been discussed and highlighted. we're talking about a road system which gets flooded for few hours of raining and half foot or one foot flood is guaranteed after a heavy rain fall in most of Colombo roads itself. I'm waiting to see how some of these hybrids negotiate floods what we used to negotiate about few months back on almost regularly basis.
  5. says someone who can distinguish real leather by smell. . Please do believe your instincts, go ahead and fix it. very rarely you find real leather in car accessories, except for few exclusive brands, most of others are synthetic.
  6. give it to your pet doggie, if it tries to have a bite, it's a real leather
  7. they always react to an all 4 lights flashing 406 with little bit of wiggling of the nose of the car
  8. this will provide the car with +20 BHP
  9. which means there would be many road hoggers ? in this morning itself I had to thrash out two road hogging hybrids to get my way on the right most lane. They'll be worst than the trishaws in the time to come it seems.
  10. it really works. I had peace of mind when I was driving the J44 to work. None dared to come closer or ride closer. There were few incidents or encounters with riders I cannot quote in a public forum.
  11. ditto that.. buses can manage, at least can see them big enough to manage or to avoid an accident let's say. But these sprats don't know basics in driving let alone road rules or don't know what RISK is. What I always say is, in most they go scot free at someone else's efforts or burden. I mean, if decide not to turn the nose of my vehicle and save lots of insane riders, I know for sure they'll end up kissing another vehicle or front side fender of my car. With all due respect to sane and disciplined riders, they too should be limited to left lane or cops should start fining rigorously for reckless driving.
  12. compare the prices of C*C and Rock and you decide. C*C is not that bad and usually known as a good paint for the base coat. The issue I encountered with C*C was that it gets spoilt or shows age too fast if you use that as the final coat. To cut costs, you can use C*C as the base and 2k or Rock as the final coat. Another alternative my painter used to do was paint the whole thing in C*C and then apply the last coat using 2k lacquer, like dupont..
  13. if your budget permits considering a different car make/model, you will be better off I guess. One of my relatives had to buy one due to YOM limitations and budget restrictions his employer enforced in the vehicle loan. I went through a stringent filtering criteria and selected one. A 2002 cup holder model and it ran about two years without any issues. After that some issues popped up, fuel consumption went from bad to worse, one A/C hose blew off, suspension rattles were couldn't solved, specially the rattle of the steering rack despite it's being EPS. Best thing is it started a habit of over heating as soon as it 'sees' an inclined road. Driven the same car around Colombo and Outstation couple of times. Lower-end pick-up and pulling is ok but beyond 60, it'll scream but no go. Remember chasing after a dump truck sorta thing from Marawila on Chilaw road and for about good 5-6 kms I couldn't overtake the lorry despite the best of the efforts and I gave up. Needless to say only I was inside the car. But all in all as a family person, he's very happy with the vehicle he doesn't need to rage with other vehicles and he doesn't know what those small rattles and noises means or whether those are there until I point out.
  14. apparently this was enforced and strictly followed in Colombo - Negombo road. At least about 03 years back for that matter. Used to travel daily on that road back then and driving is a charm on that road knowing the fact that there's no bus, lorry/prime mover or trishaw guys to cut into my lane all of a sudden. Only issue was reckless bike riders. They should be more focused on tightening the screws for reckless bike riders and they're in dozens on the road on any day.
  15. how come this went unnoticed. You meant a place which repairs cables? Or brings down cables? I know this place in delkanda known as pun*ara auto cables and they've repaired the speedo meter cable of the GR. Can recommend their work as it came handy.
  16. you mean to say this multi function and so called 'pus' start are luxuries? And an upper market mark x would not be a luxury car than an axio 'gee' grade in your logic simply because it aint got this 'pus' start. (Oh forgot to mention that the two ford escorts i had this option, and most of layland busses too). I'll tell ya, these so called features are sissy for me and who those praises them like there's no other thing in cars are too sissies i guess.
  17. well the best thing is these buggers aint give this up and don't get discourage or have no shame or what so ever. Prices dropped? Gone up? Yen is down? Up? Japan gives tax concessions? Who the effin cares? Got more threads of battery not charging or power steering squeeks or restoration help, i do care. What a noble attempt of marketing junk.
  18. Chill man, we all learn and as I've elaborated in one of my previous post, what your electrician replaced could've the diode place which includes the charging IC, so I don't see a reason as to why you should abuse him..
  19. you mean prices of hybrids? yes they have fallen down as a result of tax concessions.
  20. ha ha nice try to cover up the sh*t .. it's long gone and came from horse's mouth so you can't take it back. I've no idea about the places in Kandy. There are quite a few places in Panchikawatta whom has this. By the way if you can find something similar you can go for it, things like this need not be original to the dot.
  21. seriously I was thinking what made you to buy and restore that 2CV, yet again it's French too .. well I had some quality weed so no coughing here..
  22. nah, I don't mind mate. You think that chap can shatter me by that post?
  23. Saw some cheap ones coming at EEbay, why don't you give it a try. To my knowledge the answer is No.
  24. ++1 Ripper, another reasons why cut-outs were replaced, they needed calibrating time to time and there's a slight energy wastage because there are two coils (fairly big) and when contacts are in operation it always sparks. Further, you when the battery is topped up you can clearly see a flicker in lights in the night. That is the cut out working frequency, on and off cycles. In IC based regulators all these were rectified.
