For potential Eclipse Cross buyers, Please be aware about following recalls for some corrective measures before you order an eclipse cross. Looks they relate to some bugs in the ECU program. I have decided on a Eclipse Cross, Guys, will the Unit#d Mot#rs do these ECU remapping work involved with the recall. http://www.mitsubishi-motors.co.jp/support/recall/index.html

Yes, indeed.....

Why on earth, someone spend 7.5 million rupees on a car, worry about spending 20 rupees to run 1 km!!!!!! This is just like the secret formula that gvt use to revise the fuel prices !!!!!
-
Yeah, Most of them have forgotten their job earned from tax payers money ?
-
Why these doctors worry much on fuel figures. I came to know number of doctors in Kandy area, who are in the vehicle import business. What a shame for a respectable profession!!!!!! These fellows are just vehicle "brokers" who serve as local agents for few companies such as Kxxe

Scammed by a vehicle rental service – do not over trust online sales
vitz replied to vitz's topic in General Automotive
I doubt whether police will take a quick action. Even today morning the phone of the fraudster was switched on. I called the police, but according to them, person cannot be traced without taking a court order. These people make use of the loopholes of our legal system to survive. Have to bear...... This is wonderful Sri Lanka....... -
Scammed by a vehicle rental service – do not over trust online sales
vitz replied to vitz's topic in General Automotive
Yea Mat.... The guy has removed the add. I informed the I*** too. He will come up with a another phone number and with a totally different approach. Good to learn life long lessons sometimes with at least a bearable cost before it becomes an unrecoverable loss. ? By the way his phone number is still working......but he does not pick up the phone though tried through different numbers -
Thought of sharing my experience for the benefit of others (Don’t try to make fun out of the mistake that I will never repeat) I wanted to hire a vehicle for very short term. As usual to many of us, my first option was to use online search and find a suitable service provider. Went thorough the ikxxx.lk and found out a service provider whose rate is somewhat okay with my budget. So, I contacted the person and he explained me the rental conditions and options available. I inquired about the further information of the business and he provided me the business registration details, copy of identity card. Since I was pretty busy with my work routine and wanted a vehicle urgently, I agreed his option to home deliver the vehicle. After building the trust to some extent, he insisted me an advance of Rs. 20,000 to initiate the deal. As the information provided did not look fake and I wanted a vehicle in very urgently, I deposited the money. Even after the deposit, the person was in contact with me and assured the vehicle was dispatched from Negombo. However, after couple of hours, he stopped responding to my phone call and then I realized I was cheated by the person. Anyways, I lost Rs. 20,000.00 that don’t care much, but the fact that I was cheated by an idiot caused me quite a discomfort. Finally, I lodged a complaint at the Police though not expecting my money back but to bring the culprit to the justice. I can share the business details and identity of the person if it is not a violation of website rules. The bottom line is : do not pay any advance before meeting a service provider personally and before obtaining the service.

It seems, bringing RU1 under the permit is the most ideal option as, no worries about the battery, DCT. Even it will be cheaper due to lower base value (almost one million Y, that compensate the added tax 1.2 million).
-
Thanks. I didn't know that there is a Z grade as all on the road are RS (By the way, I am not a vezel lover at all) Yes, it looks that importers have a profit margin of Rs. 200,000 - 300,000. Very profitable business!!!!!
-
Thanks. That explains it. But, the market price would be 8 million then! Perhaps, ones fetched lower price are available in the market for 7 million rupees.

Auction price : 1,921,000 + 250,000 (Handling + I + F) = 2171000 Y = LKR 3,169,660 (@ rate of 1.46) Clearing and Agent Fee = LKR 200,000 Tax (permit) = LKR 150,000 Total ? = LKR 3,484,660 Is this mean, vehicle importing fellows earning nearly 1 million from 1 unit of Vezel import?
-
Hi, I am trying to figure out the puzzle of permit price of vezels which is in the range of 4.6-4.7 million rupees. In the vehicle market, the 2018 Vezel can be purchased for 7 million rupees. The tax advantage from the permit is 3.6 million (the total tax for Vezel is 3.75 million). Thus the total taxes payable for the Vezel is Rs. 150,000.00. Going with this argument, a Vezel could be purchased for around 3.4 - 3.5 million through a permit (7 million - 3.6 million) !!! What happens to 1 million difference. Is this a result of vehicle importation mafia occurring in Sri Lanka!!!!! By the way auction price of a Vezel RS 2018 is around 1,921,000 ¥

I tried to correct this issue through our Grease Monkey under my supervision. 1. As he detected a mild vibration in the power steering mechanism - The power steering system was flushed and refilled : outcome- problem was not solved. 2. Then he suspected dried up shock ab sober bearing since the noise was detectable when turning the steering - Bearing was re greased and fixed - out come - problem was not solved. 3. Now he thinks its the shock absorber (obviously - ?) 4. Conclusion - problem not solved ( though I can live with it since is a very negligible noise ), Time has come to kick out my grease monkey!!!!!!

Import from Japan or Australia : Honda CRV-S AWD
vitz replied to kam.uoc's question in Car Buying Information
In terms of the cost, The CRV offered by the Agent is quite a good deal compared to high spec CRV from Australia. With the warranty, best to go for the agent. but, long waiting period is the problem with the Agent. Stafford confirmed that the supply date would be April to May if order is placed now. No one could predict what happened to present tax system, exchange rates by then. Though the best option is to import a CRV through the Agent, but the most viable is get is delivered through an importer. There are plenty!!! I heard that there is a huge demand from SL for CRV market in Australia. It looks that importing a brand new (so called zero millage) would take couple of months but "displayed units, units driven for test runs" could be imported in a reasonable time. By the way, Why we cannot import a CRV directly from Thailand!!!! Any trade restrictions or is it a costly option. -
Though people try to downgrade non-japanese/euros, reality is quite different. For example Korean Vehicles. I used a SSangyong Korando for 6 years and sold few days back. The vehicle did not trouble me at all, given services, gear oil changes, fuel filter change were done timely. Though I did not earn a profit by selling the vehicle I fully enjoyed its use during past 6 years. Frankly, it gave less troubles than the Honda Fit we use as our second vehicle...... The problem of Sri Lankans is expecting unbreakable vehicles and considering the purchase of vehicle as a profitable investment!!!!!. We have totally got used for second hand/recondition parts from Japan for repairs and consider the use of a Genuine part as a burden.

Sathyajith. Congratulations on your purchase. By the way is this a JDM ? if so, good to see that the instrument panel display is in English!!!!! By the way, you have chosen the right color. Is this called gun metallic silver?

Hopeful the flood of Wagon R would stop by this move. This has become another nuisance on the road like Alto fellows. I hate some Wagon R idiots who flash bright head light on to incoming vehicles..Mostly I believe amateurs for using cars......

Dear All, For sometime, my vehicle makes a sort of "dug-dug" noise. Some observations I made: 1. The is no noise at the start of a trip. After 3-4 km run, the noise start to appear. In a long-run trip, the noise vanishes after some time. 2. It is not coming from the engine also to the outside we can't hear the noise. But I feel it comes mainly from front 3. After 5-10 min of stop, the noise disappear. 4. I took the vehicle to the garage for a quick check up, they neither detect the origin of the noise. 5. This noise is not loud to be noticed by a passenger, but I am being person got used to the vehicle can hear it. One guy was telling it could be shockabsober bearing related thing. Has anyone experienced such a problem. Vehicle - Hyundai Tuscon

Dear All, I am expecting some information about Nissan Qashqai 1. I came to know that Qashqai (1.2T) does not come as JDM as it is not manufactured in Japan. Looks like, its manufactured mainly in a UK plant. Is that means, the engine/other parts are sourced from Europe (perhaps Renault engine) 2. If so, would it be difficult to do maintenance/repairs, in comparison to a JDM model? such as a CH-R I contacted A*W regarding Qashquai and the response was they are not importing this model but expecting to import a x-trail (1.3) for a similar price range.
