Greetings dear AL friends, Anybody know of a Garage where I can get a Hilux Differential axle cleaned and rebuilt. There's a slight play to be adjusted too. This axle was submerged in flood water. Thank you in advance for your kind advice and detections.

I bought a Sakura Diesel filter from Sem#mini Mo from Panchicarwatte apparently they are selling the counterfeit ones. No Sakura logo pattern on the filter top instead their was a transparent cellophane. Had small fiber strings inside so I used a pair of tweezer to remove what I can. The worst is the inner thread is damaged. What a Sem*mini disaster 🤷🏻‍♂️

Wow that filter looks to be of good quality. Recently I bought some Sakura Filters from a local shop and the Sakura quality was very bad. The paint was faded and had print lines on the red Sakura logo. You can't get genuine Japanese filters in Sri Lanka now. So going for the one above is ok I guess. I shall attach some pictures of the counter theft Skura oil filter in case to be of help to someone. Plus I have attach two templates (last two pictures) published by Sakura Japan to help identify counter theft filters.

Same model wow! what a coincidence. I do have a collection of grease guns myself. Unfortunately they don't last long. I hope to do a review on what I buy. There's also a new greas nipple adapter. Although pricey I hope to try it out.

Dear AL friends, I'm planning on buying a grease gun. With my experience they last only about a year (regular uses). Has anyone bought a good quality grease gun? Any recommendations? I hope to do a review and share tips and tricks on the new and old grease guns I have.

One correction to be rectified when I did this project. The universal joint came with a 90 degree bend grease nipple (C in image). When buying the universal joint remember to buy it with a 45 degree bend grease nipple (B in image) as it will make greasing during maintenance easier. Unfortunately I have completed my propshaft with a 90 degree bend nipple so now I have to use a cone adapter to the grease gun when greasing. So remember next time to replace or buy your universal joint with the 45 degree (B in attached image) to make maintain easy with less hassle. In case when replacing the grease nipple on any surface or unit I use a solvent gasket glue (Cure*Real) or multi bond on cleaned threads of the grease nipple to prevent it from losing and falling off especially on a rotating part like the universal joins on a driveshaft or propshaft.

I don't know if it's ok to update this thread. Some may bark at me but with intension to share education and information to help our fellow citizens I'm updating this thread with 2023 information on Sakura Air filters. Below on the right is a Sakura Air Filter bought in 2014 and the same kind bought today August 2023 at Panchikawatta. The markings are different and I wanted to investigate so I called the Sakura filter importing agents in SL and I WhatsApp'ed the pictures. Waiting for a response...

Finally got the propshaft restored. I went to Bruce Moto_r Sp🏀rts. They are very good and friendly. Uncle Brian adviced me and the team assisted me in getting the job done. God willing, everything went out well. We used a press to insert the Universal Joints. My apologies as I could not take pictures as my hands were with grease. How ever I managed to make a few clicks when possible. When we removed the propshaft we noticed a wobble at the gearbox pinion flange. Apparently the retaining nut had got loose. Used a tap to knock out the locking nut and Uncle Brian handed over the torque wrench and the nut was torqued down tight to 130 N.m. Thank you Bruce Nigel at Bruce Motor Sports for all your help and assistance. I highly recommend them as they do a good job.

Good morning everyone, I bought a pair of Universal Joints and I chose the brand GMB as previously I had used TOYO. The product looks good and had the casting letters "GMB JAPAN". I learnt that there are three types of Universal Joints in the market illustrated in two figures below one with the grease nipple at the side of the cross (A), another with the grease nipple at the top of the cup (B) and the common type with the grease nipple at the centre of the joint (C). The price is more for A and B so I went for the C as that's how the original manufacturer U Joint was in the vehicle.

To my fellow automotive enthusiasts, Regarding "Universal Joints" for a driveshaft. I hope to purchase a pair of Universal Joints for an off-road 4x4 vehicle 🛻. Any input on brands, experience, performance and product quality would help me in the purchase. I have come across only two brands in our market "GMB" and "TOYO" are there other brands? Please share your experiences so others can be updated on new products. Please be kind enough not to mention companies and agents as this forum is based on education and not corporate promotion 😊. Go for a Hilux NL106. Reliable 👍 Availability of parts 👍 Can drive anywhere, in any road condition 👍 Good fuel economy 👍 How ever its a bit of a hassle for the elderly to get in as the vehicle is high. The LN106 has leaf springs. A better suspension system is got on the LN107 and the torsion suspension is got on the LN166, a superior suspension system.

Updated on this topic. According to law such LED headlights are not permitted to be fixed to vehicles. So the normal traditional headlights have to be the way to go. We must be curious when driving and not cause any inconvenience or trouble to other on the road. Especially when driving at night we must practice good ethics and not flash high beams at other drivers. Hope this advice is helpful to make a positive impact in our society. God bless you all.

Dear AL friends, A few years back LED headlights were a common and popular upgrade among vehicles owners. Is there any legal issues in adding such LED headlight in Sri Lanka? I don't want to violate the law nor cause any inconvenience to other drivers especially when driving at night. Thank you in advance for your kind response on my question.

Hi guys, That's a humming noise coming from the alternator when the ignition key is turned on. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS NOT STARTED. Does anyone know about this? I called a few electrician but they too are clueless. Alternator indicator light goes off when stated and the charging is good. Everything is functioning very well. Like a Bermuda Triangle phenomenon 🤣 your kind input may help me figure things out.

There seems to be two Dual Purpose selections. Where does Double cabs fall under? Van or Lorry?
