well . if it isnt dripping out and you are loosing coolant . its probably leaking through you heater unit inside the car . or leaking into the engine through a gasket . since this happened after an AC service maybe its the heater unit leaking inside the car .

Yhea bn . sold it and bought the lancer YOM 2008 . It comes with a OBD port which its not EOBD but is JOBD which the cheap ebay scanners do not support . I think it has something to do with the protocol used by the obd software . tested on a 2003 mitsubishi and a 2008 mitsubishi . both had the same outcome where the software says that the Protocol could not be detected .

Hi guys . i recently purchased a Lancer CS3 . Ive had one of those cheap ebay elm scanner for some time and figured out that they only work mostly on EOBD protocols . reading through this post i understood that Mitsubishi uses some other Protocol which isnt available in EOBD and that a software called Evoscan could be used for communicating with the ecu , but unfortunately this software works with some other device called openport which is rather expensive compared to an ELM scanner . So has anyone been successful in finding a cheap alternative for communicating with mitsubishi ecus ?

The car i was looking to buy is a 2000 model MPI . recently assembled with a 3 sri number and an austin book . if all the VIN numbers and stuff match with the CR would this still be a dodgy reg mini ? and is there some way of making sure all documents are in order through RMV ?

So i was considering on buying an MPI mini . would greatly appreciate if someone told me the pros and cons of buying a Carb vs MPI . are they reliable as daily drivers ? Any knowledgeable people in SL who knows their way around MPIs ?

Hey guys . im on the hunt for a Classic mini . browsing through the AL posts i learned a lot of stuff . From what i gathered i think its better to stay away from the cut buds . and the dodgy registration ones . and the A pillars , the front near the windshield , under interior carpets are spots to find for severe rust. some people register minis to Morris minor books. Most of the Minis that i looked had their bodies replaced with newer model bodies . some were in pretty good nick . good straight body and all . So these are my questions . How do i identify if a car is a cut bud or not . are there special places to look for like welded joints and stuff.? why should i stay away from these ?is putting a newer model body on an old mini legal ?is there any way of making sure all the paperwork for the car is in order like after putting on a new body some details must be changed on the vehicle certificate ryt ? where i should look for the engine/chasis numbers ?i am looking for a 1300cc manual . these come as EFI and carb models . which would be a more reliable engine?i would like a mini with the new teak dashboard , airbag , new engine and all those things but apparently these are the new ones that are bought down in pieces and welded together ,and then registered with a different book . also i would like to stay away from a rust bucket . my budget is around 1.3mil would it be a bad decision if i go for the newer airbag model ? but i wouldnt want to mess around with dodgy paperwork and all .P.s . any other pointer as to what to look for when buying a mini and the current market value of them are welcome .

Thanks . i was a bit worried coz the punto comes with some kind of a variable load compressor . and i have no idea what type of compressor is fitted in it now .. Crosswind nop it has the dualogic gearbox .

Hi guys . so i have been looking at quite a lot of puntos and came across one which was in pretty good condition . everything seems to work properly and its seems the owner maintained it quite well . however the owner mentioned that he has replaced the AC compressor with a japanese compressor . although the AC is working fine there seems to be no sound of the AC engaging i would like to know if this replacement would affect the car in the long run . If i was to change the compressor to an original one . how much would the Original compressor be ?

Are there two versions of fiat punto . grand punto and punto ? What is the difference between those 2 ?

Im on my way to owning a punto . although some owners of puntos ive checked out claim they are very efficient in city , i have no idea as to the real consumption of them . But after going through all the discussions here i would think yours is a bit high on consumption . Maybe its the Driving style . any vehicle would give a high consumption if you are aggressive and heavy on the pedal . Btw im also interested on the consumption of the petrol fiat punto . Any Punto owners here who drive on Colombo traffic ? would like to know how the consumption is in traffic . thanks

thanks for the prompt detailed reply . yes i owned one of the 4 fiat bravos . it was a turbo diesel one . unfortunately had to let it go coz didnt have time for maintaining it with all the repairs and bringing down parts from abroad . had to even bring down airfilters and stuff because they werent available here . i understand that you own a punto . how are the maintenance costs ? and roughly how much would you thin this selespeed pump repair cost if i was to face with this issue ?

hey guys . I am also considering on buying a used fiat punto 2006 or a 2007 , previously owned a fiat bravo 2 door so not entirely new to fiats and European cars i got to know that the punto had a common gearbox problem . is this gearbox problem a costly repair ? how much would this repair cost ? how is the availability of spare parts for the punto ? and any advice on specific things to look for when buying a punto will be greatly appreciated.

Different vehicles have different idle speeds given by their manufacturer . Usually somewhere around 700-800 . And setting the rpm to the bare minimum would cause the engine to stall and shudder even when pulling off.(that is if its a manual gear )
