1. The least considered fact by buyers in SL is safety. While 50km/h crash in an Indian car might kill you or make u lose a leg, a jap will let you walk away yourself. So consider the safety over 2-3 km/l economy
2. Heheee... Yeah they said it's comparable to 2 liter engine. But would fail at that aspect I guess. Won't go well as a RAV4 I guess. You got us there
3. <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="MDSA" data-cid="272899" data-time="1424739428">
I showed the vehicle to a technician and he told me to do these,

1. Engine Tune up (Diesel filters replacement and injector cleaning)
2. Drive belt adjustment
3. Turbo checkup

What should I Do for a tune up ?? Only these two (Diesel filters replacement and injector cleaning) ??????

Turbo didn't give any trouble in the 60000km but I did take care not to drive off immediately, and. It to switch off immediately after stopping. Drive belt actually broke prematurely giving me hard time by the road no experience of a tune up. But a normal tune up place would do IMO
4. Neighbour has a Alto. Same story. I think it didn't take more than few leasing installments for him to find rust in the door edges
5. Infamous I would say
6. Yeah I saw it. For the X1 there wasn't much difference in price. Service is about 10k less, which is good, but break pads cost 25k each. Since I had warranty no option but to get ripped off Or void the warranty
7. He is still kept in ICU. Wonder if there's light to some conspiracy theories like inhaling the toxic fumes of the batteries. Can't be an electrical shock, can it? Wouldn't have survived IMO If that's the case. However this is what Mclaren says http://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/alonso-remains-in-intensive-care-unit-after-crash/?v=2&s=1&r=13235
8. Didn't call it shitty. I said it can't be compared with a F10. Not even with a X1. I compare it with other 1.5 japs. Hope I made myself clear. No it hasn't got a CVT. Hybrid model comes with a new dual clutch 7 speed. With the electric motor assisting from inside of the gearbox. For me "compared to other 1.5 japs I've driven", it's not sluggish. I called shitty to the auto shifting gearbox. Alright?
9. Yeah I know few places now. By that time i wa new to the Beemer and had warranty on it. So didn't wanna void that as well. At prestige a tyre of the brand I mentioned is 78k. 56k at TL. Same story for break pads. They even asked to change break discs at 50k per disc. Didn't let them as I could see there's still quite some margin to the minimum thickness marking. Later a mechanic confirmed it as well. Won't go there again. They changed the DPF at 40k telling me that fuel is horrible in Sri lanka and could result in pump damage. Didn't want to cut corners on that.( maybe ripped off)
10. It was prestige. It is my first BMW and that's what it cost. :/ any BMW user who service from prestige? They said the costs for F10 is even higher. Mine is a X1. I love it unconditionally but if anyone can help me with some reasonable place to service and buy parts from, I can enjoy it even more.
11. Former user. Pros: spacious, not so stiff suspension, good when get going, good on tires and breaks, good breaking power, Cons:gearbox was smooth for one or two years but then became awful. Manual shifts don't work. It makes its own decisions. Huge turbo lag but once it spool up, gets a good acceleration. Tricky to overtake cz of the turbo lag. Fuel consumption was 10-11 in the first two years then dropped to 7-8 despite being maintained by agents. light steering(some might like this, too light for me). Used for four years with good care but interior started falling apart. So sold it. If anyone buying, check the engine mounts.
12. Ok now I know :D
13. Is civic hybrid good on fuel? One of my friends has one and he gets around 12. Is it the realistic figure?
14. I don't know if you like it, but there are some Imprezas around for that money. Bit old, but worth checking them out
15. You drive the best car in the road man. Don't expect the vezel to be even close. I had the same problem when the vezel was bought at first, but if you let the German aside and look at it, works fine for me. Yes paddle shifts make a mess. They ask for optimum RPM to shift up or down. Unless it will shift itself. Shitty yes but maybe they programmed it to protect the gearbox.
16. Correct me if I'm wrong but at least as my mechanics of machines lecturer taught, power is required to overcome the resistance. In case of a vehicle, it's mainly drag created proportional to the velocity traveling. And ability to pull is measured in terms of Newton meters. So a car will feel underpowered when it's doing a reasonable speed and not being able to increase that at a rapid rate. Low on torque means when it struggle to get off the line quickly. hope I am right
17. Might be too soon, but I guess they are good for the no.2 or 3 team. Well I don't personally think they can overcome Williams..Edit: Bulls are unpredictable as well ???
18. Alonso was airlifted to the hospital after a massive crash at turn three of catalunya. No idea of his condition though
19. hahaaa yeah Thanks.. See you r from Kurunegala.. so am I
20. Plus its less frequent to get killed in a Jap car than an indian Tin can
21. <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="iRage" data-cid="272672" data-time="1424528063">

Usually when someone says theoretical it means it was done using calculations rather than actually doing it. So the "theoretical was done by calculating it where one of the assumptions for it to be valid was that there was no speed limiter It would be surprising if someone actually went through the trouble of disabling the limiter just to speed test a Vezel

Yeah that's what I was implying. Atleast specs of some cars mentioned there appears to be true( in case of the X1)
22. <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="The Don" data-cid="272622" data-time="1424448573">
As Crosswind has pointed out in another post, premium brands when it comes to tyres does not equal premium value. This was proven in a 5th gear test as well. Funny enough there are Chinese brands who make perfectly good Run flats. The problem is they currently come as standard only on BMWs and Mercedes of late. So the market is small and the importers are charging a premium.

A friend mentioned a figure close to 30K for run flats for his E90, though he had got his quote by searching around, not through TL.

Yeah. Even the non RFTs of Bridgestone has high price. And couldn't find those 225/50 R17 in many places. Said Japanese vehicles don't come in that size. I don't know about that
23. The site said as I remember the theoretical top speed and had within brackets "without speed limiters" or something like that. Agree with the last sentence.
24. Yeah I was foolish to go for the run flats. But the normal ones were like40k each. So decided to go for RFTs. Bought from Toyota lan*a. Mm I mentioned 40k cz that was what showed on the system when I installed it. And I don't think a honda can be compared to a Beemer. I was putting it up In the normal Japanese car mindset. Nothing Japanese I've driven could give the same fun as the BMW. Luckily my engine didn't cause any trouble at all yet I looked in eBay too for tires and break pads but I don't have a way to get them to here without being taxed. Please let me know if you know a place to buy Tires cheaper here in SL. Ah TL told me that they can give the Chinese made Pirelli for 45 or so. One I've got is the softer EU made one (Romenia I guess).
