Almost all the sumos purchased by the police detorirated very quickly and most of them are not in running condition anymore if I'm not mistaken. Since 32 sri Landcruisers and 61- pajeros are still running it can't only be the poor maintenance. Just consider that as well before buying. Mahindra Bolero and Scopian is also another option but not sure whether it falls within your budget. If you're so keen on sumo try police auction. you might be able to get it cheap and restore.

There is a place called French Lion Automobiles at Pelawatta (near Buddhadasa Stadium). I've seen large number of vehicles there. I've not been there to get a work done.

CEB has introduced a new system called net metering for houses with solar power generation systems. Under this scheme CEB buys the power generated by solar system. If the usage is lesser than the number of units generated by solar system CEB gives credit to the user but not refund/ repay the money. So for those users electric cars is one way of using their credit. But cost of installing the solar system and cost of buying an electric car is out of reach for many.
