  1. Whoa! These trivia questions demand more knowledge of the world and terminologies used in different parts and in different languages πŸ˜„
  2. So it's a SUV then...I wanted to ask for a clue whether this is a Hatch or Sedan. Still can't understand the link between the answer and "wan*er" word.
  3. Maybe it's time you answer as it seems nobody else is going to πŸ˜‰
  4. I forgot to update here what I did and found out with the above problem. I had this checked at a decent place in August and got it solved. The actual issue (sound) was coming from a loosen nut on a metal part below where the wiper blades are fixed and above the shock mounts. I suspect that when I replaces shock mounts earlier, this area must have been removed and accidentally left this nut loose by the mechanic. All the nuts on this metal plate was properly tightened. This photo shows the place and exact nut that was the culprit. It was not easy to find this exact point as no one would think the problem is here at once. They checked all of front suspension system. During the suspension inspection, it was revealed that lower arm bushes were damaged and some issues in my brake calipers. That was also fixed but the sound was there after everything. Then only the technician suspected this place and had it removed. Once identified, it was a simple job of tightening the nut. πŸ˜‰
  5. Yeah me too hope that'd be all ☺️ I didn't face the issue last evening or this morning. But I'm going to get the things inspected soon.
  6. Thank you for this important fact brother, I will keep this in mind and let the mechanic know to check the alternator as well.
  7. Can you elaborate the issues you are having? When you say "out of order", it can mean many things. Does all of them not work or playing crazy? Please explain what actually happens in your cluster panel after running for some time.
  8. Hopefully it isn't the case here. I will see how it takes me home this evening and most probably I'd get the drive belt replaced for the mental health πŸ˜† and if any razor is out, that too. Thanks for the comments. πŸ‘
  9. The sound is there even when AC is on/off. I think you put this comment with the fan belt in mind right iRage? This morning, I experienced a slight locking feeling (difficult to turn) in the steering and suddenly it releases. I had to put some power to turn it. I showed it to a mechanic close by and he said that if the battery is weak, it sometimes affects a unit (A motor maybe?) which is placed under the dash of the driver's side. Maybe he refereed to something related to steering rack? When the battery power goes down (like 7-9v), this unit may not function properly and also the alternator, which causes the steering to stop like that. So the Alternator, power steering pump, water pump etc is run by the drive belt. He asked me to check the battery first. Also for the sound, he checked the belt and said there is a sound and it might be coming from a worn out razor attached to some unit which is driven by the belt. Asked me to bring the car tomorrow after checking the battery too. I did check the battery and the battery seemed to be good. I am also thinking of doing this and I will make sure to keep the tension correct as you mentioned. Let's see how it goes and will update here.
  10. Hi guys, We bought a 2007 Vitz (SCP90) with 182K+ on ODO recently and did necessary replacements and a full service soon after. Now, when driving, I hear a kind of a noise from the engine bay area which feels/hears like a belt slipping or insufficient tension. It's not continuous, it's on and off. Comes regardless of whether AC is on/off. It's not that bothering but I want this gone/fixed. I suspected drive belt and tried to inspect the appearance but I couldn't say exactly if it's good or bad as I'm not experienced. Hoping to show it to a mechanic soon. According to the WWW, those belts are to be replaced like after 60,000-100,000 miles? I didn't see a record of such replacement done on this car. What are your thoughts? I will update what my mechanic would have to say?
  11. Of course, we are good at giving local names to cars like Palathsabha, Computer Body, Allions with Flower Tail Lights (mal light), singha muna Vanette etc πŸ˜› It could be interesting to guess what heavenly name they'd come up with to this?
  12. Yeah why not? Could be a good selling if they do launch one. Even the name is a unique one neh.
  13. πŸ˜„ only later I also realized the Logo was perfectly centered. What did you mean by Product placement?
  14. He he of course it does βœ… I was so confused at first as this is known as Polestone 01, Polarstone 01 or even BAIC Jishi (I looked up translations to realize that in chinese language, Ji Shi means Polar Stone). That's why I said you may come up with many names. only now I came to know that after your mentioning about it. There is a company called Polestar, a Swedish Auto Manufacturer which is owned by Volvo, that designs a lineup of electric cars called polestar. These 2 are not the same. Yes Yangwang which is owned by BYD very much related or visually same to this 2024 Electric SUV. So here's the full photo and I was lucky to have this taken by myself last May when I had a chance to visit China. Was walking in a mall in Shenzhen and here I sees this shiny beast. Only one thing to do. Take a Photo 😁 I guess it's @Duan27's chance now.
  15. ok let me try my best... in a cash emergency, for a quick loan, in the past we had "Albert uncle in London". Guess where our Albert uncle is now? Then you get the place of origin of this car. It may look strong as a stone and may have the latest technology that could even show us where the Polar star is. πŸ˜‰ Don't be confused that there is a similarly named car series by a company which is also named quite similar to our quiz car. This company is owned by a very famous Swedish automotive manufacturer. That's the best and all I can give brothers.
  16. Also look in AETI (Automobile Engineering Training Institute) in Orugodawatta. It comes under NAITA, well recognized and has high demand for the Automobile Mechanic Full time course. There are other courses like Auto Electrician etc. Try calling them for more details.
  17. Seems Jaffna have had some hidden exotic old super cars like Mustang and 67' Alfa-Romeo Duetto Spider 😁

Really was excited when I saw the first ad for that old Mustang only to realize the truth soon afterπŸ˜…

  18. Bought a 2007 (Reg 2011) Vitz SCP90 (Mileage 180K+) for the family (will be used by my father). Seems to be in good condition but had some new owner repairs/replaces done to have a free mind.

Are the SCP/KSP 90's still at the 5 Mill mark? Was hunting one for a friend a while back- Eventually gave up due to the eye-watering prices. Happy to hear yours is in good nick... the ones we checked were generally bad.Β

Sadly yes. listed between 5.3 to 5.7 mil. Final price depends on condition and negotiation. I had this inspected, scanned, and undercarriage inspection by a 3rd party vehicle inspection company. Turned out a better one from others I had checked as scan didn't result in any fault/error codes, no rusting anywhere and overall condition was determined good. Some minor repairs and replacements was to be done. Drives well too.

We can't expect brand new condition in the cars this vintage but I think it was a good buy. I personally do not think there will be car imports in near future for the old car price to be reduced. So, I went with it without overthinking much.Β

Will start a thread/blog and upload some pics and also got some decent modifications in mind 😊

  19. Sure it does. I looked up the FRONX after your comment and realized it is also manufactured in India and exported to Japan. It does mention for the Japanese market it has some changes such as advance driver-assist, electronic parking brake, 4WD option etc. So I guess the interior material quality would also be more refined than the Indian version. Also saw that it is rebadged as Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor in India as well. Seems rebadging is a very common thing and it's just that we haven't seen all these re-badged versions recently or is it that we, Sri Lankans prefer it better when imported as original from Japan? The Baleno actually looks great from outside but cannot comment on it's overall quality, performance and comfortability as I have no experience with the vehicle.
  20. That is a good thing for sure. Only thing is the feeling that you get when you're in an Indian made Suzuki is so Indian (Material quality, comfort etc..). I mean there could be much refined models as I've not being in every Indian made Suzukis. And we haven't embraced latest Japanese beauties for such a long time that we kinda forgot how they used to be. πŸ˜„
  21. 🫒I must be half-shot then for not seeing "Let" clue but "Star" revealed it all. Ok let's keep this going... You may come up with many answers to this.
  22. Star ⭐ it is... Only one model comes to mind if Toyota and Star is connected, the Starlet. All clues and information makes sense now. I didn't know it was re-badged by Suzuki Baleno in 2019 and of course it is sad to hear that. So the answer would be Suzuki Baleno 1995 model. The original model is said to be Suzuki Cultus Crescent though. Hatchback, Sedan and Wagon are the 3 variants. PS: Did a "suzuki tail lights 1995-2002" image search and it was there too πŸ˜† Suzuki slipped my head yesterday when I was searching as it feels more Indian than Japanese now. But I think it was a good thing otherwise I won't know about this Starlet story.
  23. Which is??... Sorry for all my ignorance here, but since you guys are talking about a modern Toyota and Nissan Primera P10/P11, I am in confuse. Is the second one a Nissan P10/P11?
  24. Can I guess this as BMW 5 Series E39. And it is the first tail light you have put up there. It came in 2 styles as Sedan and Touring Wagon right? This light was so familiar to me but couldn't say exactly. So I did a series of google image search as "Toyota tail lights 1995-2003", then Toyota was replaced by other famous Japanese makes and so on. After main Japanese makes, my focus was the European makes and my favorite one was BMW. Tada! πŸ˜„ I got what I was after in the very first row. Still no clue about your other photo.
