@matroskaI think it's like the more popular Japanese model here due to Uber and other Taxi services. You get a newer (2018+) Camry for almost all Uber rides you book. The ride is quite solid as well.

Yeah, sold my father's Suzuki swift 2004 1.3cc for 4.0 Mil within a day of advertising on 2 famous sites. That was easy and within our expected price range. But saw the same being on the market again after 2 days for 42.95/- 🤑. I don't know how that went. But my 2nd car, Vitz 2007 SCP90 was put up for sale the same way but had no luck yet. Just a couple of calls and so many calls from a car sale requesting to keep it at the sale for several days.

Well spotted, I didn't know that. Even better you just almost revealed the license plate 😃 Maybe this was your wife's colleague's car. I barely saw the driver from the rear windshield and for a moment I indeed thought the driver was a different national. Well as I know, a DPL registration is almost like a local registration with only "DP" printed on the plates. So when transferred to a local, the rest of the numbers remain the same and that DP status will be removed. I have no idea about expat to expat transfer. But when a Carnet vehicle (which runs with a foreign plate) is transferred to a local after paying due taxes, I believe that car gets a license plate according to the current series running in RMV. And same applies for vehicles released from Customs custody through auctions after legal procedures are completed. That's why we see older cars with new number series. Ha ha...I didn't think it was something that obvious but this is you. Asked my passenger at the moment (who happened to be my wife) to get a picture of this. Annoying she gets when I ask to do these car related stuff to her 😆 You got that correct too (straight back slightly to the left) Anyways I think you know what the car in question is right?

@Gummybr yes I do have a GR Yaris. I probably should do some updates to the blog ⠀Yes..the GRMN is a bonkers and pure sports car. Has very little to no practicality as a road car
The thing is...the bespoke chassis of the GRY makes it economically senseless for Toyota to keep on making it. There is a lot of talk about the GRC, GR Supra, GR Celica, GR MR2, GR Starlet but the GRY is interestingly left out of most of the chatter coming out of Toyota apart from saying (and I paraphrase) "we shall keep improving the GRY from everything we have learnt and apply it to new and exciting models".
Other than that, they have also been testing the GRC as a rally car across all rallying tiers. Then they also made a mid-engined GR Yaris, but didn't say whether this was a test mule for the MR2/Celica or if they were looking into a mid-engined GRY.
The likelihood of the GR Yaris having several model cycles like the Evo and WRX seems to be low. At most, there might be one more model iteration (since the TNGA platforms get reused) with a new outer shell and something unexpected, like a mid-engined car.
The automotive pundits here seem to believe that the GRY will come to an end with the release of the new Yaris. -

Even the baby engine auto one is an engaging and fun car to drive.

True this. All are seems to quote starting price of the base model with no any options like you mentioned in a previous post. A capable buyer would buy a decent new car and settle while the mass seems to doing is artificially dragging used car prices down. When seeing all these FB page posts atc it's just pathetic. Now that the first vessel arrived, their desperation seems to have doubled. 😃

Seeing funny things on social media. Someone posts as Anonymous to sell a KSP90 Vitz and put the price at 42.75. And usual guys comment 27 ok blah blah. pathetic efforts to bring down the market artificially. Advertisers and commenters all in the same gang I suppose. 😄

Sadly what could happen at the end is most buyers ( most middle-class or above average buyers with a loan/finance who are desperate for a new car) ends up with the said lowest priced and lowest spec'd cars. Still, Basic Yaris for 8 Mil upwards and other low power kei cars around the same price are not worth the money right? Then they'd do all those cosmetic modifications to make up for missing specifications or add cheap after market gadgets. People who can afford will go for cars in the next level which would mostly be 10-12 mil plus. With the new condition of registration should be done within 3 months, I guess these highly priced Corollas, Vezel etc.. will be brought down only for confirmed pre-orders? Anyway, SL car market (New/Used) would never be the same for a considerable period of time.

We could have had similar options if only there were decent cars to trade in, and still our guys would tamper the mileage in hope for a better trade in price 😁

traded-in means people exchange their used previous model of a vehicle with a newly launched one right? In that case, getting them down could actually be worth given agents give a reasonable warranty. If the agents does this, prices of other importers could be somewhat controlled I think. Actually these kind of initiatives are required for a country like ours.

The irony of people not understanding the meaning of "Dual purpose" and what their actual purposes are. It's crazy if people go in the queues to get cabs because they must have any possible new vehicle be it a tipper truck even and double cabs has best bang for buck at the moment. Soon when the insurance, fuel cost and maintenance comes, who knows they're not gonna hate the car, let it waste and pass on to another after a while?

As an owner of a 1000cc Vitz, has experience driving a 1300cc Suzuki Swift and a 1300cc Vitz (My father's), and also as someone from the areas you mentioned, I'd say whatever's 1300cc or more power would give you better satisfaction specially in these areas. I have driven to Badulla so many times along different roads in my 1L Vitz. You can get the job done but you'd wish you had more engine power most of the times. 1300cc gives you more power and driving satisfaction. 1500cc would be ideal in my opinion but you can't go wrong with the 1300. 1L Vitz became popular due to the lower tax structure but current model came with minimum options/features. My 2016 model has only 2 Airbags whereas the 2007 KSP90 1300cc got 8 Air bags, 6 speakers etc. Of course safety features are available in newer models but having experience in 2 generations of the car, I prefer if newer models had those options as well.

Believe me after reading this I got some visuals in my head from movies, names of which I can’t recall. I don’t know which bugger would export a 90s car to Mexico and sell it as a 2015 model 🥸😝 nor I know the car name.
