Range is not updated after fuel refill - Toyota Aqua 2015
Sadik replied to mgtdan n9i8u's question in Electrical problems
Yes Gentlemen, I agree with Davy- All of us are a set of people who have the same interests in mind which is the undying love for these road going metal beasts , a passion only a very limited no of people share.... So we shouldn't have conflict among ourselves. Lets try to reach a well informed decision via doing more research on the subject. Peace... -
Agreed. Because its a very attractive price what they offer. As they say "caveat emptor - buyer beware" i think it's up to us to check the genuineness of the product via keying it in to the brand's database... : )

To date i've actually bought 3 head units from this guy in favorite market. (02nd floor i guess) The first Kenwood i used for 5 years straight without any complaint and others 02 years each until i sold the vehicles. No issues. I think they are bringing down units which are of a older production year which can be dirt cheap in places like Dubai. You will not find the latest release with them for any brand.

Range is not updated after fuel refill - Toyota Aqua 2015
Sadik replied to mgtdan n9i8u's question in Electrical problems
Same scenario in all the cars i've used including the Allion & X-Trail. Unless you top up the tank , the range doesn't get updated. For some strange reason the Montero seems to update even for small volumes such as 10 litres, ( which i do during last date of the month , due to fuel quota reset). But no idea on the technicals -
Well, its' good if you can use a Kenwood reverse cam which would give you good view quality plus the exact viewing angle it promises. But then , why spend 18K , when you can get a good reverse cam from Alie*prss for less than USD25/-. Believe me , in my Allion (2011) i installed a cheap 2500/- reverse cam -chinese-and for 5 years i used the car it worked flawlessly. Don't sweat much on reverse cams mate.

If you havent driven CVT's before , guess you might be gassing up the car a bit too much. Best is to check with a person who has some experience with CVT. For christssake , i hate the long pick up time & engine scream of CVTs

mitsubishi Montero 2013 (4M41) V98W Genuine brake pad importer
Sadik posted a topic in General Automotive
Gents, Well, couple of days ago the Monty went for a service (first after i bought her) at the agents and they wanted me to replace her rear brake pads. She has only done 50K kms still. I went to the workshop when they were about to remove the wheel and observed that the pads were shot to the steel frame. Price quoted was 20K and had to anyway incur it. In the web i see that for the V98W Shogun , genuine pads start at GBP 11/- and so on. One place in Kadawatha quoted 7K for the pads. Can i know from the Monty users in the forum is there any place you guys get reliable Monty spares (especially the R& RSs) in Sri Lanka at a reasonable price other than the agents ? Thanks in advance for your assistance. Sadik -
You can get some decent examples which have been brought to UK. An example with a few thousand miles might fit your budget. I think the UK versions are on a 5+ year warranty - so obviously should be good than what is directly being shipped here for Micro. If i find the ad on FB will PM you. Reviews seem to be decent so i wouldnt too much caution you from a UK version. Micro - Def no no

* I hope you are not referring to the Auris I think its the same car (hatch) but Yaris for the Euro (UK) and Vitz being for Jap domestic. Do a tally on the frame number. If it matches technically the same car with minute kit differences. Yaris , since it's for UK, you might get more bells & whistles for the same amount. On build & ride quality i dont think am an expert enough to comment. If it's the same engine then unless the ECU mapping is different i doubt there will be a significant performance change between the two Second hand market might be a bit tricky as the Sri Lankan market is not yet used to a "Yaris" hatch back. identical to what goes between Shogun & Montero in SL. So, you may not sell it as easy compared to a JDM vitz. But come-on this Sri Lankan market barely has logic for second hand prices Tx

For detailing i generally pick Kl**n Pa*k Ja ela, as not very happy with the Dehiwala service. They do a decent job ( i have been dealing with them for the past 7 odd years) but i think on the pricier side. For a full detail they will take an entire day , mind you.

Hi Jay Z, Maharagama is OK. Would you mind sharing his contact details. On a side note the cam was delivered last friday , a mere 6 day transit which i must say is quite fast for Aliexpress. Thanks a lot for the support

Gentlemen, I went with Jay Z's suggestion & as on paper that looked the best solution of all at the right price. Any of you would care to recommend me a good place for an installation? Does Sun Lanka handle these kind of repairs where third party cam installations are involved?

Not a personal experience but a friend apparently used them for a issue (couple of years back) of a very popular JDM car used in SL. He indicated to me that the mechanics were not very familiar with vehicle and kind of screwed up the thing where he subsequntly requested to stop the work and went to the agent in Wattala. Can be an isolated incident and also this is a JDM. Better consult a few more who subscribe to their services. Thanks

There is a new business in SL where hard-to-resurrect vintage rides are being exported to middle eastern countries such as Qatar as displays. and i've actually seen a few bugs & T2s carrying Sri Lankan in number plates in Qatar (pretty stationary). If someone can get hold of the guys who are doing it, they might offer a turnkey solution

i can faintly remember this brand sometime back in SL. Dont recall why it went off...If the spec is right for your motor might as well install it. A quick search in the web didn't turn out much info. FB routed me to Atlas Battery Pakistan which had a few 1 star reviews with some strong language - So , better keep some change as a contingent in case things go downhill to get a spare battery

Thanks a lot JayZ , NRX & tiv Really appreciate your help on the matter

Guys, I feel that the current reverse cam in my Monty ( 2013 -4M41) , seems to have a rather narrow viewing angle to that of my previous X-trail. Monty was bought used and the reverse cam was installed by the previous owner which i think is a Chinese contraption coupled to a 5" viewing monitor mounted near the top right end of the WS. Can anyone suggest a branded reverse cam (with a wide viewing angle) , and also can there be a possibility of an incompatibility issue with the current generic monitor ?

Toyota Lanka should be able to do it. But could be a bit pricier- Couple of years back for My 260 (2011), they charged me 16K ++ for an ultrasound injector cleaning and tune up.( Not sure whether they changed the coolant also) I can remember there was a place called Vishnu lanka mentioned in one of the older posts. He should be VFM. Just browse and see- Also Narahenpita i can remember someone called Mario- I dont know whether he is in the trade still. But pls dont give it to makabasses. They can really ruin the show for you quoting low prices Seems like you are running at a low idle - why don't you swap the air filter and see first? Generally a tune up is recommended every 30K

Gents, Apologies if i am raising a query which has been discussed earlier, alas did not have the fortune of locating the same. Would any of you happen to have a digital copy of the Monty's (Diesel) onwer's user & service manual covering the 2013 production year? Thanks Sadiq

Which color? White or Silver...Pls suggest
Sadik replied to amsandun's question in Car Buying Information
Certain makes such as Premio / Prado/ Axio in auctions tend to fetch higher prices for colors such as pearl white. But if its directly from the manufacturer i doubt white demands a more premium price than silver. Silver on the contrary fetches a lower price in the auctions because i guess a silver car could be one of the most low key ones. It again depends on the models. For an AT212 or BMW F10 i would definitely pick silver over white. Both are good heat reflectors as well as provides better visbility of the vehicle at night. and also both colours are excellent to hide hairline scratches But again its your call as its is your ride..you decide what color you like. These higher & lower prices at auctions may negate when you are selling second hand in the local market. -
Dear all, I am an existing X trail user an HT32, 2015 JDM. Well, Nissans are anyway not known for fuel efficiency in the past as well. And if i am not mistaken the hybrid technilogy used by Nissan for the HT32 is not as advanced as Toyota. The MR20DD engine can provide around 120BHP + another 55 BHP odd value is being provided by the hybrid motor , where i feel that Nissan tried to provide a 2.5 litre pulling powered vehicle at 2.0 litre fuel efficiency. The 2.0 litre vehicle anyway is very much under powered for that body. If you know about the UK variant , many comment that the 1.6 litre engine which powered the NT32 diesel was very very sluggish. Talking about the gear box issue, if anyone can speak to the agent , they would say that a limited number of vehicles had this issue. The primary issue as per my knowledge is that teh gearbox which was used in the hybrid Xtrail is actually sourced from a lesser known europeon country , which supplies for Renault. If you would go thru the forums you will see that the transmission system has not been previously used by any of the nissan models. i came to know that the metal parts used in this gear box had a certain quality issue where it eroded and causing certain microscopic metal particles be released to the gear oil chamber. Now this specific gear box (pls see Paul Tan.org to undretsand the full functionality of the gear box) has its transmission processor submerged in the gear oil chamber. Due to these particles , the transmission sensor started giving out errors. That is why many technical forums recommended the gear oil to be changed at very short intervals such as 10k. But mind you thiis was only a small batch of cars where this specific metal type from one certain supplier was used. There are many Xtrails which have even done 100k to date and does not have any issue. Nissan did a voluntary recall for all vehicles manufactured between March to Aug 2015 , where they have apologized to the authorized transport body in Japan. (please check the web, it is in japanese so pls use google translate) Many vehicles in Sri Lanka faced a jerk in the gear box or an error , which made many owners to think that their gear boxes has the same issue. But , many vehicles were rectified by only changing the transmission oil , as the driving conditions in SL commands a more frequent CVT oil change that what the manufacturer recommends (which is 100k). The other vehicles , teh repair is not very expensive , as the repair kit now can be sourced at price lesser than 300k. But for JDM's sadly unless they are covered by the warranty of certain shippers this repair has to be done at the owners expense. Am sure the repair kit can be sourced for lesser amounts. Nissan did not recommend to repair the gear box of these vehicles but recommended the installation of a new gear box starting from the code 3SZ. if you trace nissan's history on CVT issues , even for minor component faults they always recommend a gear box change. That is why the local agent never dismantled the faulty gear boxes. The agent quotes around 1.6Mn for new gear box (3sz) for JDM replacements, but there are certain institutions who will dismantle and do the repair kit at a much lesser price. Being one of the people who witnessed the dismantling i can say that it is one of the less complicated gear boxes to repair. From a close source i came to know that in Japan to a price close to 500k we can source a new gearbox , which am sure the prices will go down with time. So owners who have this issue can opt to either privately import the gear boxes or use an expoerienced repair shop and look at changing the components with the new repair kit. Please do not be disheartened by these various rumors. Yes, a few cars have had this issue , but its not something completely irreversible. Only a bit of "yanking the chain" by the agent for the JDM owners. Gentleman, apart from this issue , as a whole all Xtrail owners will agree that the vehicle is very comfortable and good to drive. I personally appreciate the space and the looks which was one of the primary reasons to buy that car. many others will have their own reasons. Am not condoning other vehicle brands but i dont think HT32 should condoned in this manner. All of us love our cars as our children, and what ever faults are issues they have we have plenty of reasons to love and adore them, and i think this forum is full of people who love their cars for reasons personal to them. On fuel i will nt speak , as its a thirsty car. All Nissans are known to be thirsty but have a certain driving charatcteristic like Hondas. ( not speaking about the lower end sedans & hatchbacks) In my case , the company pumps the fuel so i dont complain. I quetly enjoy my ride , espcialy outstations. But if you are very concerned about fuel consumtion, pls dnt go for this vehicle, and Nissan's as whole. Thank you
