  1. i don't know whether this would apply to the specific make of car that is under discussion here, but in my car there is something called 'dual proportioning valve' which distributes the brake force that comes from the master pump to the front and rear calipers/drums....mine had some issues like some oil leaks, etc so i had to replace it and now the brakes seems to be working just fine...ask your mechanic about this and get it checked...other members in the forum might be able to give more info on whether this applies to your car..
  2. that 40K must be for b'new alloys machan. try buying some used alloys that are in usable and fairly good condition....they might look very old with a lot of dust and stains but a bottle of 'braso' would do the trick...i know this bc it worked well on the alloys that i bought very recently...
  3. drop it ARC bro..no point of wasting the time trying to explain him what the real case is. From all his posts it quite clear that he is so looking forward to go ahead with the conversion...even i have come across several converted(gas) VTEC s and the performance of all of them were rubbish...however at the end of the day its his car that is gonna get ruined.. lets just let him go ahead with his great LPG conversion and keep lubricating his valves... ...which is something that we really don't have to worry about since we use petrol..
  4. Yup thats my bad and sorry but was able to find the address on the net, in K&N dealer locator to be precise.. it was given as No. 57, BRAYBROOKE STREET, Sri Lanka ---someone who visits the place more frequently would be able to confirm... http://www.knfilters.com/search/dealersearch.aspx
  5. ...Az pls refer the 2nd and 3rd replies as the location that was given in my original post was wrong....sorry about it bro...
  6. add me also to the list bro.....
  7. Many Happy Returns Arc bro:d
  8. yes agree with kumudug regarding the synthetic engine oil changing interval...its mainly because of the stress that our motors get on srilankan roads....but 5000km feels like a little too early to change a synthetic motor oil ....7000 km seems much more reasonable...I used to use synthetics and those days i did all the engine oil and the filter changing work after every 7000km....anyway this is my view and ideas of the other members may vary...
  9. exactly... totally agree with the comments that both of you guys have made. Once we came across a honda EG VTEC which had been used on gas for sometime and even when the engine was running on petrol the performance that it delivered was no where near what you get from a normal properly maintained vtec...and even when we took it all the way up to the red line, there was no feel of the vtec kicking in... so think twice before you go for a gas conversion...cheers...
  10. could be related to an engine tune up..whats your car? normally in most of the EFi cars accelerator becomes a little bit stiff due to high amount carbon deposits on the throttle body...remove the air intake pipe from the intake manifold and examine the inner side of the throttle body by pulling the accelerator cable..
  11. many happy returns of the day bro..

  13. well i have driven a 1.6L auto N16 that belongs to one of my friends....hmmmm....what if say that the N16 would be faster than the Ex(single carb)....well i dont dont think that the 1.5L version would be that slower than the 1.6L

hey guys lets not start an argument here over a small matter... @2F2...well racersedge has given you info regarding the versions that are available in the market.. what you own now(the single carb) falls into the catergory of Ex.. MX is the dual carb version of the EG8 VTi is the VTEC and machang there are many genuine VTEC s available in the SL..well if you have any doubt you can always refer to the vehicle registration papers and check the whether the engine number on the engine block is same as the one on the documents. ETi is the version that you should always avoid if you expect performance..ETi is the one with economy VTEC engine. The market value of this car is a less compaired to other and its somewhat harder to get rid of. There are several methods that you can identify this model. One is from the top engine cover which has VTEC-E written on it and second is from the gauges. Always be carefull bc some people change the engine top cover to a VTEC one and try to sell the car at a higher prices. If you go with someone who is really familiar with the model he would easily recognise whether its a VTEC-E or not without even looking at any of those that i have mentioned above. If you are buying any honda model always go with someone who knows about them really well.

the problem that i have experienced with single carb is that its a lil bit lazy at high end...if you have driven your car above 5000rpm then you'll understand what i am on about. I have experienced the similar problem with many single carb hondas..beyond 5000rpm the revs build up at a very slower speed compaired to a dual carb or a VTEC. There are people who carryout various mods on single carb but whether they give satisfactory return is somewhat questionabe.. Well ofcourse you'll get a bit more power but you'll also be visiting fuel station more often.. Well according to my knowledge you have 3 options.. 1. Go for a dual carb setup- for this finding parts would be a lil bit difficult.youll have to find a dual carb setup with the inlet manifold,Housing which holds the air filter element, the control box which has vacuum valves, the computer and some wire harnesses---this wouldnt cost as much as a VTEC swap 2. Go for a VTEC engine - this would cost you above RS.125,000 3. Collect some money, sell the car and buy a EG VTEC---this is the best option

Is your car a brand new import?

go for a dual carb setup bro..thats the best way you can improve the performance and a well tuned dual carb would get you a bit more than 10KMLP in fuel consumtion but tuning it is a bit hard. Some of the people here may disagree but a stock dual carb EG would be faster than a stock VTEC...

the cost of the VTEC swap would depend on the VTEC engine that you intend to run. A D15B SOHC swap on a carb model would cost you more than RS.125,000...

what have you got under the bonnet now machang? is it a single carb? and whats the main purpose of this swap? is it performance?
  20. wish you a very happy b'day bro..
  21. may be you got it wrong mate...i am somewhat asking the same question that Jwest asked from GTam...there's no way in hell that the BMW falls into the prestige category mate...may be paly boy was the wrong word. and bro for your info, that guy isnt a nut man he knows what he is talking about....trust me..ill tell you about it later...
  22. mate do you mind telling us about the countries where the BMW 3 series is considered as a play boy's car ...if you mentioned the M3 then it would have been a lot nicer..
